  • To clarify, there is no randomness in the targetting of Bionic Shielding. It is however a targetted power, which means it will effect whoever you have targetted. What you are experiencing as randomness is probably the auto-targetting that happens when you try to use a heal on an enemy. It will automatically re-target to…
  • There are probably more than these, but there is a 2-point advantage on the Evasive Maneuvers power that will give you a 50% chance of completely wiping your threat level with all targets. There is also 2-point advantage on the Palliate healing power, 100% chance. That one has a longer cooldown though.
  • It is not entirely reasonable to claim to be a glass cannon if you have Con as your primary superstat. Anyway, the general consensus seems to be that the game is a bit easy for freeform characters built with power in mind. But then again, is that a bad thing? Let powergamers be powergamers, it is better if the game is…
  • Err, putting that question aside, you are not really supposed to be using your energy builders. Pick whichever energy builder lets you pick your other powers quicker.
  • While I agree to some of your points, I think you are looking at it from the wrong angle. Support and Tanks do make a difference in fights like the Gravitar, but it is rare to see much real need for them elsewhere. It seems hero power is being inflated quicker than villain power. That said... All my characters are "tanks"…
  • Rank 3 Regeneration and Gifts of the Storm should generate a 300 point heal every 9 seconds. This is not terrible for 2 advantage points. It is not quite so bad as you make it out to be, but there are a lot of things that can mess it up when you are in a team situation. First, you have to be getting hit a lot for…
  • This already exists, sort of. It is a rather well hidden option so there is no wonder that you have not seen it. Press 'o' (for social window) Go to the search tab Click 'Privacy Options' at bottom left corner of the window Check things you dislike being spammed with.
  • The way damage dealing is set up in Champions Online means that it is fairly easy to mix power sets as long as you decide on either ranged or melee damage. Mixing Archery and Unarmed is going to be a bit more tricky, unless you make a build where damage is secondary. You could definitely play a support character that uses…
  • Don't go with IDF unless you plan to have a lot of minions. I would suggest getting a regular form like enrage instead. As for electrical powers that work with the Heavy Weapon set, you should consider Sparkstorm with the Electric Personality advantage. It will let you keep this running in the background while you smack…
  • Resurgence is not a bad skill, but it has a long cool-down and is only useful for getting you out of emergencies. You need something a little more reliable and constant if you want to be a good tank. Presence no longer has any impact on threat. What you need is Challenging Strikes and Crippling Challenges on your main…
  • You could also look into advanced key binds to make you change costume automatically when you use certain powers. Problem is of course that there is a cool-down to changing costume.
  • This, by the way, is my gunslinger. I never even toggle my energy builder to on except when I have to resurrect a lot (Basically against Gravitar), since that does not build my energy, only consumes it. Nano-swarm Gunslinger It is tank-oriented though which may not be what you wish for.
  • No, the way Conviction works is that it both heals you and increases your maximum health until you get hit again. This allows you to pre-heal if you so chose, stacking the heal ontop of your regular hitpoints. The boost to max health is pretty minor though and is unlikely to make much of a difference. It is primarily a…
  • Refreshing stacks does count for the energy return. Killer Instinct would definately help you, but you would not get a lot without Ego or Recovery as a super stat. Perhaps Molecular Self-Assembly? It scales very well with Intelligence, but requires powers with cool-downs to trigger. Are you using something like a lunge to…
  • You are not entirely wrong, but you are missing a crucial part. Accelerated Metabolism adds a very small and instant amount of energy. (I think it's 10 or so?), and the 15 second "buff" is actually a lockout period where you cannot receive the energy boost again. Basically there is no way to get significant amounts of…
  • I know nothing of CoX so I cannot make useful comparisons. As for money, there are three primary types. Resources. These are mainly used to buy secondary gear for and mods to slot into primary gear. The reason your numbers aren't matching up is because 7000 "local resources" is converted to 70 "national resources" which is…
  • Right you are, I forgot that part. I would still suggest getting overdrive in place of MSA though, since having your energy return trigger off of self heals as a damage-dealer is impractical. MSA will give you better energy returns per shot, but overdrive should be up at all times unlike MSA.
  • You will have some issues triggering Molecular Self-Assembly with this build unless you need to heal yourself constantly, consider switching to Overdrive? Alternatively get rid of intelligence completely and put all those points into EGO instead to use Killer Instinct as your energy unlock.
  • PowerHouse (Link to this build) Name: Nano-swarm Gunslinger Archetype: Freeform Super Stats: Level 6: Constitution (Primary) Level 10: Ego (Secondary) Level 15: Dexterity (Secondary) Powers: Level 1: Gunslinger Level 1: Two-Gun Mojo (Rank 2, Crippling Challenge) Level 6: Killer Instinct Level 8: Regeneration (Rank 2, Rank…
  • It does have challenging strikes, according to the wiki. That said, they are two rather different skills. Maintain vs Click for example. Different activation time and all that.
  • There are already plenty of powers that perform a similar role though. here are a few examples: Shuriken Throw Shadow Embrace Iron Lariat Iron Cyclone Breakaway Shot Upheaval Quicksand CO Wiki - Knock Not quite the same so your suggestion is still valid, but these might help you meanwhile as they do allow you to stand…
  • Area of a 25 foot circle: 25^2*pi=625*3.14=1932.5 Area of a 50 foot cone with an angle of 90 degrees: 50^2*pi/4=2500*3.14/4=1932.5 Do you see the massive advantage of a 25 foot circle? No? No? Why are we arguing basic math? As for knock up and challenging strikes. That is an entirely valid discussion but the fact is that…
  • This is an unreasonable comparison though.* Both of them are considered ranged damage and scale off of Ego so it is strange to say one is better because of it. One may however argue that a ranged skill does not belong in the might set (would be an off topic discussion). * Shockwave has twice the range * Shockwave has a…
  • "Requires 1 power from Brick or 2 non-energy-building powers from any framework." Clobber is from the Brick framework and thus qualifies. Pick Clobber first and then Unstoppable at level 1.
  • You are entirely right. Parry is not a good idea unless dexterity is a superstat. Another good alternative is Force Shield with advantage if you want more energy while tanking.
  • PowerHouse (Link to this build) Name: A hurricane of claws Archetype: Freeform Super Stats: Level 6: Strength (Primary) Level 10: Constitution (Secondary) Level 15: Recovery (Secondary) Powers: Level 1: Bestial Fury Level 1: Shred (Rank 2, Rank 3) Level 6: Pounce (Crippling Challenge, Nailed to the Ground) Level 8:…
  • Sure, go for it. There's a whole bunch of ways you could make it work. Wind could provide you with decent area threat through briefly applying hurricane or wind breath, and you can otherwise focus on claws or bestial for your damagedealing and energy recovery. Or you could use claws/bestial to just get closer for the…
  • Sure they do. They do not, however, trigger off of energy builders since a recent patch.
  • Personal Force Field is applied after most sources of damage reduction, which means you get full use out of armor and dodge. Other sources of shielding are applied underneath the Personal Force Field though and are thus somewhat useless. I suggest taking a look at this thread for more details: Cyrone's PFF Q/A Help Thread
  • An addition to what Ajanus said; Crippling Challenge has a side effect that completely bypasses threat level to force an enemy to attack you, but that effect has a duration of 4 seconds and an internal cooldown of 10 seconds (not modified by intelligence and such). Basically a tank arriving late can have the enemy on them…
  • Personal preference: I play a tank and would prefer being granted Primal Majesty. It adds more bonuses that help me tank than Protection would, since my resistance is already high enough. This really comes down to a choice between making people better over all (Primal Majesty) or helping the fragile characters stay alive…
  • Pets do work if you are ranged though. Just set them to passive whenever she puts up a bubble. Pets should be able to run away long before the bubble bursts. It is still not a very good idea to bring pets against Gravitar though, they'll be running away a fair bit and a failure on your part will likely lose you most or all…
  • I have tanked Gravitar on several occasions using Regeneration as my passive, it is not a problem. I would however not recommend it to others. It certainly does need other powers to support it for those nasty orange bubbles. Defiance and Invulnerability are generally easier to work with.
  • Having both Master and Tempest is kind of pointless. You'll do just fine solo with Tempest anyway, probably better than Master. Storm's Eye Prana is a very small advantage that will likely not be of any use at all unless you are tanking really tough enemies. You already have plenty of defenses in the form of Lightning…
  • Primary strength has a bunch of nice specialization options, but diminishing returns on damage is at 70 already. You should only push past that if you really want knockback resistance or are using one of the rage forms. You should probably avoid it since you are using a martial arts form. To clarify: I am not arguing…
  • Drag and Drop the mod instead. Here is a tutorial for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTKpNk3uHos
  • Hello! That looks like a pretty neat build, but there are some wrinkles that you might want to straighten out. Major points: Drop Reconstruction Circuits and get Bountiful Chi Resurgence instead. The main reason is that Reconstruction Circuits blocks out all non-power armor powers while active. Additionally, the advantage…
  • Overdrive requires skills that are maintained, of which you have none. You might want to go for Molecular Self-Assembly instead as it triggers off of Mighty Leap and Conviction You might also consider taking Intelligence instead of Recovery. They both do about as good for your energy if you go with Molecular Self-Assembly,…
  • If you want regeneration, pick regeneration? I think Defiance is probably a better power in your build, but there is a passive defense that grants regeneration. It is suitably named "Regeneration" and is found in the Supernatural sets. You have more attacks than you need to. You're generally better off picking just one…
  • Looks good, though you should probably switch Endurance to Recovery. Overdrive scales scales only with the highest of Intelligence and Endurance. A less obvious factor of Overdrive is that it also scales with recovery. Each point of recovery is worth twice as much as a point of intelligence or endurance. Ranking up…
  • Regeneration relies on good gear and defense specializations to make up for the low innate resistance, but I think it might be nice for power armor since our self-healing options are quite limited. I tanked Gravitar twice with the above linked build today, so it's working out alright. I do have the Heroic chest of…
  • I have just started working on a power armor tank build on my own, though my success has been somewhat limited. I can help with some points however: * Micro Munitions and Chest Beam use the same slot, and you will never be able to use them together. * Conviction will be on a very short cooldown thanks to Intelligence…
  • Ah, this is true. You cannot chose it upon character creation. But you can chose to retrain to it right away.
  • It should be, but you do need to take a Munitions energy builder to be able to take Bullet Beatdown at level 1.
  • It is probably too late now, but incase you are still working on things... I have a radically different approach to this with my own character. Healing through toughness, it may be suitable for your combination. It centers around the excellent synergy between Regeneration and Iniquity to keep your own health high while…
  • You need to give us a bit more to go on than that. It really depends more on what sort of powers you take rather than the power set they come from. Take a look at this site and pick one which coincides with one of your superstats and intended attacks: http://www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Energy_Unlock Some examples…
