I hadn't noticed there was a build thread specifically until now. That's probably why I haven't heard a response in awhile.
I've been having troubles with my character build for a long time. In terms of damage output he was doing just fine, but as far as defense goes he could barely stand his ground. So before I retcon him again, I need help with his build. This is what I had in mind:
The Corvid
I kind of want to build him around The Specialist, only using gadgetry instead of guns and using a laser sword as his energy builder and melee. Any feedback would be appreciated, and it would also help if someone could tweak this list to give me examples of what I might want to keep.

That looks like a pretty neat build, but there are some wrinkles that you might want to straighten out.
Major points:
Drop Reconstruction Circuits and get Bountiful Chi Resurgence instead.
The main reason is that Reconstruction Circuits blocks out all non-power armor powers while active. Additionally, the advantage on Chi Resurgence combines very well with the high dodge rating you can get from primary dexterity and the Parry advantage)
You lack a working energy unlock. Overdrive only triggers on maintain skills. You have none. Try Molecular Self-Assembly instead, it will trigger from several of your skills.
Smaller points:
The advantage on Form of the Tempest will not help you or your allies much if you have any sort of regeneration (such as Bountiful Chi Resurgence). This is due to it having an 8 second internal cooldown.
It will only help out in a small way if you receive very big heals every 8 second. Use the points to rank up Bountiful Chi Resurgence instead.
You might also want to squeeze in an active defense skill for emergencies. Lightwave Slash seems to fill about the same role as Ricochet Throw in your built. You would probably be fine with just one of them.
You could also try to fit in one of the Dragon style attacks if you can make it work thematically. Their Rush buff would be able to create a very significant amount of energy along with other nice effects.
Ego does not really do much for your build, you could switch it to Constitution. The damage bonus from Ego is not significant if you have both a form and an offensive passive due to diminishing returns.
