I really wish that they'd take some high-quality foundry maps and turn them into settings for STFs, PvP, Fleet Actions, etc. People get pretty creative: whole cities, destructible buildings, etc. It's a little hackneyed but fun. A season of 6 STF "halfs" (i.e. space map, ground map) to add to the queue (as well as…
They made a movie about stealing space whales... to the future. Hold off judgement until you can get the full picture of where these beasts fit in, story-wise.
Don't know it until you see it in action. It'd be oddly specious to single out this game when there's an entire film about saving freaking space whales.
I hope that never happens. The devs have done a fine job in my estimation. The game's improved considerably since launch--and seems to have picked up development pace compared to its first year. I don't post nearly as often here but I just wanted to thank those who've stuck with the game and kept a cool-head, despite…
Divide 40 by these teams:* Neverwinter (currently ramped up for its beta and release) * STO * Champions Online * Company-wide staff (R&D, server/network admins, marketing/community management) It's easy to see STO having 10 or fewer dedicated employees.
A short mission can be story-based too. My whole philosophy behind my own UGC is that if a parent with a thirty minute break on a work night can't complete my mission then I've outstayed my welcome. Not that I don't admire incredibly long and intricate missions--just that personal preference can account for things too.
This raw understanding is, of course, tempered by the fact that dilithium is best acquired through other activities. STFs are primarily about their own currency now (Omega Marks) since they contribute to both alternate progression and cheap gear access (much cheaper than buying gear through dilithium or fleet stores).
Except the time investment for the mats required for most individual projects (reputation, doff) is way less than most alternate advancement systems. The game is not free-to-play and everything can be gained in under one fortnight. It's free-to-play. The advancement for non-guild projects is on par with the rates in WoW…
So Long (But Not Quite Good-bye) .....For those who aren't aware, it's tough for me to log into the game nowadays. It's not from lack of content (I enjoy what's been added during the past year far more than any content from the first year of release). .....I'm terribly busy and can't commit to maintaining this thread…
The thread is called "what are the devs working on" not "what have the devs worked toward development hell." :) The Queen has been in concept art and various models since before Cryptic took over the project. This image is recent. Dstahl mentioned an "Into the Hive" playthrough in a recent interview. As such, I added a…
Updated: * Borg Queen (Into the Hive) 1 Note: I heard a Dstahl interview saying they've done a boss playthrough of Into the Hive. It's the content leading to the boss fight that needs polishing before it can be released, he said. No ETA.
* Quark is rich, thanks to going franchise with his bar. (though a dramatic reversal-of-fortunes might be nice). * Odo became one with the ooze. Of course, that could get boring too.
Sorry for the lack of activity lately. I've been extremely busy at my new job for a non-governmental organization. I'll gather some notes and see what isn't in this thread since I last updated. Screenshots of updated foundry features and recent starbase projects are likely. :) I'd like to mention a lot of the amazing…
Hey, ladies, gents, and every shade in and outside that paradigm: The Neverwinter devs have worked hard on some new foundry features. Some (not all) are being ported to Star Trek Online. (Video 1) (Video 2) Some cool features: 3D asset previews, interior editor, UGC creator levels (called "Dungeon Master" levels in…
This. I seriously doubt that the devs would assign dilithium alone for these missions, considering the daily fills that niche. Item rewards are much more interesting.
My guess:* Daniel Stahl (exec prod.) * Thomas Marronne (asset artist * Jesse Heinig (I forget his role: systems and content? uber-nerd?) * Brandon (community manager)
It would be called Season 2. The PvE content would be blown through in a weekend and the playerbase would still be jaded. *However* What if the developers converted these great Klingon missions en-masse? That would be 43 new KDF missions, already sorted for progression.
