Wow, this thread is sad. Despite many of you putting in enough time to earn college degrees I only see a few names that I might consider good at STO. Why not go do something with your lives?
They wouldn't know where to start as they lack the prerequisite experience necessary to balance PvP. They would either need to learn how to play PvP at a decent level, or consult with high level players. You also have to contend with the fact that this game is unbalanced by design in order to sell more shiny trinkets.…
Ok, I guess I'll make my contribution to the Panda circle jerk too. It goes to show you that adaptability is everything. The Panda team seemed to take a little while to get back into full fighting shape (six months away from the game and all), but even after the HOBO team changed builds mid match on the pretence of a…
I don't doubt that Cryptic has some technically proficient people working for it. That said, the non-technical people seem to be the gaming equivalent of Michael Bay. What was going through your guys' heads with these Beam Overload changes? I don't play STO anymore (thank God) but I'm hearing reports from friends of full…
Cryptic has been effectively killing PvP for a very long time. They don't give a **** about you or PvP, and you shouldn't give a **** about them or their ****ty game. PvP will never get better. Cryptic will eventually assign one guy to fix it (on top of his other duties no less) as they have done in the past. Doing so…
Irrelevant. If Cryptic was willing to put any kind of resources into PvP they would have done so ages ago. PvP is never going to be in Cryptic's focus and therefore it doesn't matter how the PvP community behaves or words its threads. The PvPErs still left in this game aren't guilty of expressing their disappointment in…
The misguided team ability change made it so that the only way to kill a competent player with a tanky build is through sheer team work. System CD shouldn't go back up to 15, but 10 would do nicely. 0 breaks the game. It's far more simple than that. Players who lack the intelligence and self reflection to blame themselves…
The guys who whine about premades today will always find something to complain about, no matter what you change. They find fault in everything that inconveniences them in the slightest, not realizing the real fault lies in their attitude. You can see it everywhere in this thread.
I don't play STO anymore, but it's great to hear some sensible words coming from a dev. A queue with absolutely no teaming does not make sense in an MMO, and it really took me aback when I heard about it. One with limited teaming certainly does make sense, and is similar to the way MWO and many other games separate their…
They can't both be bad? And just to clarify, it's OK to be able to instantly vape someone when it requires considerable skill, timing, and teamwork. What is not OK is when you can still do it with those aspects out of the equation. Likewise it's OK to be able to sustain someone almost indefinitely, but that too should need…
The sky fell some time ago, my friend. ;) But yeah, I have to throw my hat in with those who think this is disastrous for PvP, or at least would be if there was still PvP in this game worth having. I really don't care any more, I've come to accept that this game isn't ever getting better and I have no urge to come back to…
I'm not sure what's more sad: * That you just completely broke PvP and made it possible for a team to rarely, if ever die * That no one at Cryptic has the design sense to realize what a terrible call this is * That I doubt there are enough serious PvPers left to care * That I really don't mind any more, because a huge part…
Healing just went to crazy stupid levels. The 15 second global was too much, but no GCD is even worse. The perfect GCD would be 10s between dissimilar team abilities -- enough to encourage taking more than one type of team ability without breaking the game.
A pug only queue in an MMO is nonsensical, but I'd love to have a premade only queue and a "max team size of three" queue. Let people still enter the general queue with teams larger than 3, but enact a 15% damage and hit point penalty per person over for the entire team. Give the premade only queue appropriate rewards and…
They aren't exploiting anything. Kills don't count when the last hit comes from certain forms of DOT, DOT which your team applies and the receiving player has nothing to do with. Serious PvPers count up total deaths to see who won a match, and the rewards are basically the same for winning or losing so it doesn't matter…
