This is an engine issue and is not related to system build as it has started majorly with certain maps for a lot of people just after S9 was released. Please refer to the following threads on the issue as we await feedback from the devs once the new Delta Expansion is released:…
SSAO or Screen Space Ambient Occlusion basically adds realistic shadowing to objects in a scene like so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IFxjKT7MXA#t=21 It should not affect game performance that much vs say actual shadow/light quality settings and AA settings based on system build.
I have posted my test results in the following threads: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1090131 & http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1124241 I have and can confirm this is not a gpu/build issue esp on my end this is a game engine issue as it's specific to STO.
We have had this discussion since beta about the flight axis issues in this game: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=sto+flight+axis+site%3Asto-forum.perfectworld.com full 6dof like what there is in star citizen ain't gonna happen cause it's a limitation of the game design, as for just adding vertical and horizontal flight we already…
I have the 360 version of the game and bringing it to the 8th gen and PC just means an overall better experience for what the game could be immersion wise, casue frankly the 7th gen version ruined it. Least I can bring my MP toon over to the PC version so I don't have to start fresh.
*shudders* XP I recently did a clean install from 7 ult 64bit to 8.1 pro 64bit. The game runs pretty much fine identically between the two even with gen map specific issues I have encountered since the launch of S9 from my testing.
What is your display? What is your gpu? Do you game at night or during the day? Knowing this might be able to suggest some settings that will improve your gamma (generally have it set at 1.2 or 2.2 depending on your display settings), contrast (your whites, most often set to 100%) and brightness (your blacks, most often…

I'm sorry what? Wrong, a Quad = Duo if a game uses only two cores. However, thanks to the extra cores, some work is taken off of Windows processes, so a Quad > Duo. As for the few you must be looking at the mac stats over on steam, hell I have a quad core in all my work pc's. As for upgrading a gaming pc, 3.5-4 years is a…
I'm not worried about the temp tbh, I run a/c in the summer and its winter now and it keeps my room warm lol (I'll just up my fan ratio's in the mean time). I'm looking to do a full tower build in the future and might run a water block build, but that's in a few years. As for the FPS like I said in the other thread its…
It's still early to recommended it as a must get item for a PC gamer but it's valid enough to at least keep an eye on it from my point of view when it comes to new tech.
