How can I get higher contrast/lower brightness for beach events?

(Already put a note in STO feedback, looking for user suggestions)

I'm trying to get a higher contrast setting to be able to discern the sand "clumps" from the beach sand (and the tricorder beams as well.) if you are colorblind There used to be a separate GAMMA setting but all I see now in the display options is "brightness".

Does anyone know a way to set graphics/display options for an even higher contrast/lower brightness in the game?

Maybe you are suffering from the excess of bloom that cryptic introduced after season 9. Try to lower the quality of the bloom or the intensity.

If that doesnt work, try to deactivate the postprocessing.

    Cheers.

    What is your display?
    What is your gpu?
Do you game at night or during the day?

Knowing this might be able to suggest some settings that will improve your gamma (generally have it set at 1.2 or 2.2 depending on your display settings), contrast (your whites, most often set to 100%) and brightness (your blacks, most often set to 50%) settings.

If you are using HDMI with an nvidia card I recommend the following thread: Using HDMI and getting accurate color format

Bloom wise ingame set it to low or medium as high over saturates it in areas like risa and nimbus and objects that reflect the simulated sunlight heavily in maps.

And set the ingame brightness (iirc it is under the display tab) to default so that you can readjust it based on the updated display settings.

    Is this what you're seeing?

Try setting "Bloom quality" to "Low" or "Off".

I've been complaining about this problem since it appeared on Tribble.

Setting Bloom to OFF really made a difference.

    (AMD 7870)

I can't say the result is perfect but its considerably better and playable.

I'm eager to see what other areas (like Nimbus) look like now...

    Thanks!
