    E3 was all about this.
could care less about gta, Tom Clancy's The division looks brilliant though.

It definitely does! I was interested in GTA V before it was released on last gen consoles. I haven't played my 360 in about 3 years so I didn't get it. Considering they force you to play 3 different characters through out the story, I was glad I didn't dust off my 360 to play it. Too much time has also passed for me to even care about getting it for the PC or XBOX One. WatchDogs is a good example of what GTA V should have been.

Those things you put your drinks on while you're playing video games on the PC.

half a dell with a tv slot. cant change it or alter it, its systems are worse then pc platforms and significantly less powerful, also less memory to load and save. completely overpriced for such a product and its games. hopefully these console companies stops doing playstation and what not and release the source codes to build an emulator for the pc so i can finally finish off the halos after 2 which was the last one on pc before microsoft went exclusive with their own platform. lame then, still is. anyways, there is the gearbox console coming, but its significantly more expensive then those box. basically a whole pc custom chassis and the software with emulation built in according to what i read.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

I have the 360 version of the game and bringing it to the 8th gen and PC just means an overall better experience for what the game could be immersion wise, casue frankly the 7th gen version ruined it.

Least I can bring my MP toon over to the PC version so I don't have to start fresh.

I honestly don't think console games were ever better than computer games. The last console that I bought was a PlayStation, but I had most of the major consoles prior to it, like the Atari VCS, 7800, NES, SMS, TG16, MD and SFC. I've also had various computers from the VIC-20, C64, Amiga, IBM PCs from an 8086 through to my current Core i7 and even a DEC Alpha system at one point. In all of that time, I have yet to see any console games that offered the type of in-depth, open-ended and/or thought provoking gameplay that computer games had.

Sure, there were some good console games, but most of those were simple platformers which ultimately never gave me the same sense of satisfaction as a good PC game. I could list off perhaps a couple dozen console games that I found memorable, yet I could probably write an entire book on all of the computer games that have stuck with me over the years.

Back to the topic, I may get GTA V once it gets a PC release, provided it's not encumbered with intrusive DRM. Disc checks, serial keys or better yet, DRM-free are fine. The installation of additional software that runs in the background, phoning home or requiring an internet connection for single player is not.

Funny thing is most of the demos I've seen from E3 thus far, they look and sound better, but the actual gameplay and fun side of things doesn't seem much different than it was on the original Xbox or the PS2 a decade ago. Take the shine off, and it mostly looks like a whole lot of "didn't we do this already?"

As for GTA5? Pft. Maybe when Rockstar remembers how to have the perverse glee of Vice City again instead of a game that nags me and makes me hate the characters.

You cannot compare psI and before with current consoles. Even I know that despite not owning one.

The industry shifts the consoles into the role as primary game medium. I'd say at least 90% of the current games worth mentioning (outside the mmo sector but that is changing too) are console games and only on PC as ports.
That's a sad thing because the console controls do not work for certain games (like the good old wing commander and x wing games)... But that's how it is.

not really. about the only thing the pc lacks is racing games on the level of forza or gran tourismo.

and as for the kb/m vurses pad argument... if it was true, fighter planes would have mice instead of sticks.
the only real advantages of mice comes in cqb fishtank twitch shooters like cod or counterstrike.

Yes really. Absolutely really in fact.
That many games get ported to pc does not change the fact that they are developed for consoles.

And back in the golden age of pc games every non-idiot gamer had a joystick for flight simulators of any kind.

You've missed my point, which is that even throughout the golden age of video games, consoles did not offer better gaming experiences.

There are still many PC games out there if you look beyond the mainstream marketing machine, possibly more being released than on consoles. I'll further say that I probably wouldn't enjoy the games that you think are worth mentioning, but in the event of a good multi-platform game that originates on a console, the PC version will almost always be the best version.

I'd rather go back and grab some of the older PC games that I originally missed from gog.com than play most of the stuff being pumped out by the large game companies now.

I am guessing that will be the case, since the new consoles are essentially low/mid-range x86 PCs.
