If people did not buy gold with their in game coin, then the gold sellers would not sell it.
Because people do buy gold with in game coin, the gold sellers do sell it.
Gold sellers set a 'lowest sale' price. This will be the lowest that they will sell their gold. If it sells well, they may increase the price at which they sell gold to see if it sells as well. If it does, they may raise the price again. If it doesn't, they will lower the price.
So, so far, what we can see here, is... people who aren't paying directly for gold... are the ones setting the prices.
You say that gold sellers are greedy, and I agree with you. I am greedy. If I can sell my gold for more money, then I will. Because when I sell something I look to make the most out of it.
Why should I sell my gold for 200k, if people are willing to buy it for 400k? It's like asking somebody to sell a ring worth one million dollars for $500k so that you can afford it. Sadly the world and it's economics does not work that way.
Yes, gold sellers are greedy. But this is because we look to optimise profits, just like you look to optimise your spending by buying things cheaply.
I will give you an example.
Let us say you see an two FC weapons you can use in the AH. They are exactly the same, with two sockets, imbued with two garnet/sapphire gems and are +5.
One of them is priced at 10 million.
The other one, exactly the same, is priced at 20 million.
You wouldn't by the expensive one, would you? No, because you would be wasting money.
Reverse the situation for gold sellers, and there you have it.
You're just as greedy as we are.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Madness, why not just permanently add them instead of continuously messing up the already fluctuating player market, the damage has already been done in the past like players quitting. There wasn't always packs in the boutique, game just feels like a casino wanting to rip you off now.
Ever think about how one day the packs and sales will push non-cs'ers to far and you will start losing you're veteran player base more and more if not already? PWI is doing something right but it's only been a year and MMORPG's in the past have died quickly. Q_Q

.
I feel funny quoting quote..... But yes, this is really what is boils down to. PW was smart to see that they can keep the money that people would be spending on "illegal sites" in-house by providing a venue for people to buy cash shop items with in-game coins, and being able to sell the cash shop items in game for coins and gold directly. It also removed all the security issues of players going to those sites.
In case nobody has notices, PWI amaizingly devoyed of Gold bots, which are a common feature in every other F2P and P2P MMO out there.. even "that new one".Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Few things -->
1) Not surprised, we all knew they would be back
2) There were actually quite a few people on the forums that wanted them back...mainly because of the tokens and the ability to get their Sage/Demon skills
3) You have to admit, the tokens are awesome
4) Gold is not going up because of the Anni. Packs, it is going up because of the Dragon Orbs being on Sale...this would have happened even if there had been only DO's on sale
5) Go with it...it is not like it is not something we have not been through before
6) Gold might remain lower since there are many on the server who have gotten what they wanted form the boxes (not me do not get any ideas b:surrender)
7) I think MOST people are over it except for those who have proven to be huge cash shoppers
* No need to QQ...I actually laughed because I knew they would be back sooner or later. With the expansion, new server, holidays and New Years, it is only natural that they would have this "Blow-out Sale"
* Gold prices only go up because people are willing to pay the price the sellers are setting, you cannot blame the Dev's nor the GM's for that
* Everyone breathe...we have done in several times already and can do it again....[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I think most reasonable high end players won't give a damn....including me. I CAN buy it but iI just don't care for them...like most of the other players. Oh and I won't miss u, just another QQ less to hear I hope. This ranting everytime PW does smth in the boutique is getting ridiculous. Oh I see, judging by the way you post, you're trying to be some internet tough guy. You start flaming people because they're complaining about Anni Packs and you ask me if I have anything better to do on the Holidays?
Shouldn't you be asking yourself that question? I'm not the one coming up with disturbing methods for QQers to hurt themselves.0 -
There's no real point in this entire discussion. What do you all want to be heard? Wanna get your point across that anni packs are ruining the game?
Simple way to get noticed is. Stop Playing. Actions speak louder than words. Also you think that won't work, he's the chain of events that will ensue if say 1000 players just leave.
1. 1000 less people buying gold
2. 1000 less characters in the game to actually DO things.
3. Inability to do things like TT's because lack of player will force more to quit.
4. Cash Shoppers and PKer's will get bored cause there won't be much to do. they'll leave. Big dent in PWE pocket.
5. PWI dies out, or is purged to start anew.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
yay for another thread to call gold sellers and/or PW greedy! there's nothing wrong with these packs, and if youre heavily dependant on CS items to get things done, i highly suggest adopting a new play style. in the rare occassions my woman buys me a charm, i make them last 2-3 weeks . play cautiously/use potions, you have no need for gold.
these packs dont inhibit your gameplay, so why whine?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

2 words: ripple effect
another 2 words: chain reaction
these packs will raise gold and thus raise prices of standard items as rapid inflation occurs0 -

there is da reason why its called Anniversary Pack....if i remember rite i didnt started pwi 4 years ago :P0 -
_DarkSeph_ - Sanctuary wrote: »Yeah, but you have to be offering players something worth their while before they spend money. The first time I spent rl money in the cash shop was at 79 to help fund my TT80 set. I really liked the game and planned to be playing a while so I made the investment. Anni packs were just out too, so I said heck it, I'll contribute some dollars and give the event a spin for fun. Won a best luck token. Over the next few weeks I added a few 10$ here and there on charms.
Then anni sale 2 came along. Then anni sale 3. Gradually I noticed friends quitting and the game becoming far less fun orientated and more of a power drive. Endless strings of bugs and glitches cropped up with no fix. Popping $10 every week or two became meaningless... becoming decent started to require $100 investment every week or two.
It was about then I lost motivation. I made an alt, quit my TW faction, learned all the tricks to buy/selling and have been a F2P player who just plays to have fun with friends ever since. Nothing in the game motivates me to become P2P or contribute. End game goals are far too pricy and the devs don't really give a damn about anything but profit. I don't see a bright future for the game worth investing my money in anymore.
This is the killer. Exactly this. I am a cash shopper who decided the same thing. I will never reach end game, I don't plan to anymore. Why? Not b/c its so "hard" to level. But because I will NEVER be able to attain the things I need in this game without spending lots of real life money I don't want to spend on pretty on screen characters I will never rightfully own. I will have the cheapest **** I can find to play with and try to make it thru.
This is exactly how they are losing money. Maybe someone replaces us, maybe they don't. But if they hadn't lost us as customers, they'd be making that much more.0 -

Now, lets not forget the part:
1. 1100 new people join the games since they read reviews that rated PWI the best F2P game out there, and one of the best MMOs overall.
2. 1100 new people buy gold
3. Cash Shoppers and PKers rejoice, new players means new buyers and new people to kill
4. Tons of new people to do things with. Sooner or later they will be high level like the rest of the players (it took a TB 2 days to get to level 80+...)
5. PWI stock goes up (as it has been going up since they went public a year ago), and they release more games into their portafolio, hiring new employees and helping the RL economy of California by providing jobs to more people.Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Who will do FF's? TT's? RB's? These things would happen less often. Making it more pointless to play for the ones that didn't quit, from there it's just a downward spiral. It's pretty simple to understand.
it doesn't matter if it's Cash shoppers or not that quit, the game needs players to run. Whether you pay to play or not. Take a Good portion of that out, it's like removing the foundation of a building, only a matter of time before it falls.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

That's the same decision I came to as well, especially after 4 times of anni packs. Yeah the first round it was nice to get my TT90 green with the help of those packs, but now I have no use for them. I, too, know I will never be endgame, that's why I settle for the stuff I can manage and be happy if I get a +3 from refining without dragon orbs (which I have only managed once so far x.x;), helping my guild/building my guild, raising pets (as its fun having one for each occasion :P), and for farming lunar squad mode.
Yes I have fashion and things that I've gotten from me buying gold, but those days are done for a while until I make the coins in game... now if the devs would just slightly increase the drop rate for those of us surviving off in game coin and slight merchanting alone.... *hint hint devs* (not that they read this <.<)_Jaysun_'s Wife

Uhm, most 80+ r either Cash shoppers or accepted how PWI works...
If u get to that lvl without using cash shop, then ur not going to start complain now....If u do, why the hell did u even start lvling to 80 b:sad.
PWI always did things like this, and thus won't quit doing it now.
I need a hammer to bash some thick skulls here.0 -
Although there is many ppl who hate that the anni packs are back... there are those who love it that they are back, thus the PWI owners get their money because of those ppl, so of course they would bring them back. If ppl would quit buying them (which we know thats never going to happen) perhaps they would stop bringing them back and actually wait to bring them back on their next anni.
Seriously though, since their keeping the anni packs around... they need to change the name of them because their anni. was over a looong time ago b:chuckle0
