  • Taking all other things out of the equation, including the hamfisted way in which they removed AD from Leadership, the bottom line is AD should never have existed in the first place. Every other game I've played, both subscription and F2P, has had one primary currency which you can earn through all aspects of play - mob…
  • Good luck with that... What you'll likely see is far less real players in the game at all, and far more bots in dungeons and skirmishes to farm AD.
  • If by 'get there' you mean the complete removal of the playerbase, you might be right!
  • The thing that really stands out here is the level of incompetence in the implementation of these major changes. For arguments sake, let's say earning AD from Leadership isn't good for the game, and needs to be changed. You don't just 'renovate' your house with a sledgehammer overnight. You need a solid design and plan, so…
  • Sure, if you want to be literal. I'm pretty sure most games I've played have had a reasonable difficulty curve, where rewards and progression are commensurate to the content though. Do you think that running normal Temple of the Spider forty or fifty times a day - which would still likely fall short of most peoples'…
  • How many people are seriously going to run normal Temple of the Spider and Dread Legion over and over and over and over... on multiple characters, just to have an income that barely scratches the surface of refining/upgrading? Even if they reintroduce the missing dungeons, people will always go for the most time effiecient…
  • The full force of this is yet to hit. Right now, we have the majority of posters in this thread saying what a ridiculous idea it is. We're probably the minority who actually follow the forums and news, and keep updated with information on the game. Come Thursday, there'll be a whole lot of players logging in to to find…
  • They'll need to hang on to a handful of players with bottomless wallets then, as the majority will stop playing the game if they continue in the direction they're currently heading.
  • You expect people to give them the benefit of the doubt with all the bizarre decisions they've made recently? Especially when this latest massive change - scheduled for next week - wasn't even seen as important enough to put in the news section... unlike the 'slim chance of Celeste Companion' news which flashes in front of…
  • It's worth stating that you actually ARE spending real money in a sense. Every Zen you gather from AD to purchase the VIP has been paid for by someone out there, so you are generating revenue for Cryptic/PWE any time you use the exchange. I think many forget this when they talk about 'free players.'
  • Exactly! In fact, I've never played an MMO in the last sixteen years or so in which alts were pretty much such a necessity. Progression is so painfully slow and costly on main characters, that you essentially need alts to prop them up with a steady AD income. What will happen now? I can't honestly see many players logging…
  • I suspect the developers have completely lost the plot... Firstly, the dungeons. It's great that the need to be online at a specific hour has been removed, but they've basically doubled the work you have to put in for a similar reward: Old: Single dungeon run = 3000 AD for the Daily + 3000 for opening the chest with a free…
  • I think you're missing the point. All those 'active player' rewards are attained by investing large amounts of time and/or money in the game, and keeping the game alive for everyone. They aren't 'free' in any sense of the word, whether the game is promoted as F2P or not. These freebie codes for former players are earned by…
  • No problem :) I'm not a Twitter user either. I bookmarked the page after the last huge maintenace delay. It's worth keeping an eye on when the inevitable problems arrive :/ https://twitter.com/NeverwinterGame/
  • Twitter update: "We're aware of the issues with our servers and have been working on getting them up and running again."
  • The top three currently are pretty much no-brainers as far as I can see: 1) Fix the difficulty curve, starting at levels 60 through 70, and then right through DD and Skirmish content. Sharandar, Dread Ring, IWD, etc. should all be 'easily' soloable content, other than heroic encounters. I love grouping with my guild, but I…
  • 'A bit' doesn't begin to describe how difficult solo content is for squishy classes. Try taking a freshly levelled CW into the Portal to Tuern quest, even in full 115 blues. It's brutal. At least an OP can complete it, even if it takes longer. 60+ content seriously needs to be looked at if Neverwinter wants to keep…
  • Or until you die from severe head trauma after repeatedly bashing it against the desk in frustration.
  • "The Summer Festival Talent Show was a hit with the onlookers... after a jug of ale... or ten..."
  • 4 Disconnects in the last half hour... ohh and there's only one piece of the Sunite Garb on the vendors. Testing... what testing ...
  • I've been playing MMO's since the mid-90's and I've never played a game where the "solo" content is so difficult and unforgiving. What game do you want to compare it to? Ultima Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Rift, Age of Conan, Tera, World of Warcraft, Runescape, Guild Wars?
  • It's also why the world was split between Trammel (consensual PvP) and Felucca (free PvP). It pretty much set the tone for every MMO since, where players could choose to avoid the griefing if they wished.
  • There's always going to be a grindy work-like element to MMO's, unless someone has a radical idea to change the way they're played. It's been the same for every MMO I've played in the last twenty years. Some are better than others, as they realize you need to have as much fun in the game as grind. Neverwinter's problem is…
  • The event is definitely garbage, but I wouldn't overlook the easy coupons. They're account bound and have no time limit until opened. They've already said the invocation coupons shouldn't be dropping 100% of the time, so they will be changed. Changed to what, who knows with Cryptic. Probably a one in a billion chance…
  • You can get tokens from the event, but seems pretty random. I placed around 10th with 15 fireworks and got a token, then placed 6th on another character with 30 fireworks, and didn't get one. No way in hell am I going to try and get 25 tokens for a 50% mount, let alone all the other stuff. The event is either bugged or…
  • You can get them as a reward for turning in fireworks during the event, but seems pretty random when you get them. I guess the higher you place the more chance, but it'll be hard to collect enough for the companion, let alone everything for achievements.
  • It's not exactly a stealth nerf, it was stated a couple of days ago that they weren't intended to be in every bag: Ironically it was in a thread complaining about having to delete things which autodelete after an hour anyway. No more unlimited 15% item discount sadly...
