Does your friend not broadside? (Which he should be doing with that many beams for optimal output). Also, power settings? 6 beams will suck weapons power like it's candy... EDIT: Ultimately the Dyson's Proton DHC is really just for show if you're using beams. I broadside in my Dyson and Intrepid and can push 5-6k out of…
The biggest problem you're going to run into is that 'best' is subjective. For example, I personally don't think A2B is best because it sacrifices too much survivability. That's just my play style. If all you're concerned about is doing as much damage as possible, roll a Romulan and fly a Scimitar. You'll be a glass…
Personally I've never been fond of the A2B route. This is my dual-cannon build on my fleet Avenger (I'm also an engineer :) ) http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=bilisknercannons_5768 There are modifications you can make (like not getting the MkXII Jem Impulse engines) that won't alter the effectiveness too much. I'd…
I've noticed the patching has been extremely slow for me lately as well. And I know it isn't my connection since I still show 23Mb/s down in a speed test. Not sure whats going on there. Only thing I can tell you is to find something else to do while you wait. (I start patching on my lunch break and it's normally done by…
I've seen some of the youtube vids and this looks like it would be pretty fun. I think I can put together a build on my ACR or Oddy that would bring it down to spec. Handle's @sgcdialler. :)
My using dual cannons is purely preference. From what I understand the community tends to prefer DHCs over DCs. For me though, I like the way DCs work better than the DHCs. I've run trials over and over between the two and I keep coming back to them. If/when you can afford it, doing testing like that is always worth it.…
I use a Fleet Avenger myself, and I have a DBB and a DC loadout for it, both centered around the Dyson 3-piece and Obelisk 2-piece. Dual Cannon build: http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/?build=bilisknercannons_5768 Dual Beam Bank build: http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/?build=ussbiliskner_5768 The…
Basically do whatever you want. Take your time to look over what gear you may or may not want. Or be like me and get it all so you can play with it. But as far as missions/rep/PvP/PvE, yea basically have fun. Half the time I just fly around sector space looking for Red Alerts lol As for the Fleet Avenger.... you think you…
Whenever that happens I just go to the chat box and type "/invite player@handle" (w/o quotes of course). Works every time. Unless they're in another team. In which case, they get laughed at and then invited. lol
I could see this either adding a good measure of fun/Trek back into the game... or being a giant pain that's only in the way all time when running STFs
How about no? To OP: If you don't like the rewards, please go play something else that you like better, and leave the slot open for someone that actually wants to play. "Don't be a d**k" --Wil Wheaton (edited for politeness)
I'll start by saying that I'm an engineer at heart, so someone correct me if I'm wrong. :) From what I've seen there's almost no way to reduce the cooldown on GW, other than using the Photonic Officer boff ability (grab a Photonic Studies doff to reduce the cd on Photonic Officer). You can get a bit more out of GW if you…
Anyone that is running full DC and MACO/Borg should be able to finish it. I'm running MACO and 3 points in DC with the Solanae core to finish it with 1.5 minutes left on the clock. So my question is, are you still starting it in the bar at ESD (or on Qo'nos)? If so, start it in sector space instead, since it's now…
You could initially expand the bank by 4x12 slots (total of 48 additional). Now, you will be able to expand the bank 12x12 slots, which is 8x more than before. 8x12=96. The wording in the post is, admittedly, confusing, but technically correct. EDIT: looks like someone else got the math in before I did :P
I run with MACO engines, the Solanae WC (Subspace Fold), and 3 points in DC, and I can generally finish with a couple minutes on the clock (provided there isn't any lag and I don't TRIBBLE it up :P ). My route is as follows, using slipstream and subspace fold as often as I possibly can. I start in the Pelia sector, and hit…
That is correct. The effect is minor, since HE isn't a shield-drain power (meaning the drain only comes from the secondary deflector's abilities), but it is there.
