I guess this means Season 9 will come with missions that require us to hold dozen+ items for something
You are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Wrong. Nothing to do with season 9 at all. But it does however have to do with ................ Just teasing lol
The math on the bank slots doesn't add up. 12x12=144, not 96. Either you have the wrong total or the wrong number of increases, since 8 increases would make 96.
Thank you for both the free base increase and the extension of the ability to purchase more. It is much appreciated.
It used to be you could purchase 4x12=48 additional Bank slots. Now you can purchase 12x12=144 Bank slots. That is an addition 96 slots over what you could originally purchase.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Please reconsider ARC. Please make it optional, at the least. PLEASE.
It seems the vast majority of your most active players (forum regulars) hate the idea... and while that's a small subset of the playerbase, I think it's an important constituency.
THE PLAYERS DO NOT WANT THIS.

You could initially expand the bank by 4x12 slots (total of 48 additional). Now, you will be able to expand the bank 12x12 slots, which is 8x more than before. 8x12=96. The wording in the post is, admittedly, confusing, but technically correct.
EDIT: looks like someone else got the math in before I did :P
Obviously the answer is yes, otherwise they wouldn't do this, wouldn't introduce an Account Bank, and wouldn't increase the maximum number of ships you can have per character.
p.s. I KNEW I was going to regret dropping a few thousand zen on bank increases for my alts last week because something exactly like this would happen (okay I was expecting a services sale, not free slots, but close enough :P ).
Oh well, I'm still incredibly happy about this, especially since my main character already had max bank and inventory and was running out of space with no way to expand. In the end it's also an increase in the total maximum allowed so spending that zen will still benefit me later.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.

We appreciate your sacrifice to make this happen.

Oh, you're correct. I didn't get that it wasn't talking about total increase, but increased increase.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

There are those of us that are starved for even crumbs when it comes to the Galaxy X being made into something more in line with the other end game ships out there.
What, only more storage slot? Why no free Dilithium and Zen?
This game is DOOMED.
I distinctly remember not too long ago (ok, it might have been a couple years) that this game was pretty much at its max for inventory, ships, and BOffs because the dataspace size on the servers for each of our characters was something like +10x the size of a typical standard MMO character, as each of our BOffs and ships take up the same size as a standard MMO toon. Not only that, each of the inventory slots on our characters, BOffs, ships, personal inventories and banks also take up a portion of the server's non-infinite space.
Obviously something changed. Technology marches on. Faster servers, more highly-available data storage getting cheaper. Possibly even some database optimizations.

Each free ship slot comes with a 5 minute mission where you need to chase around Mini-Q 5 times to unlock 100 Dilithium?

This is a very welcome thing and I would like to express my thanks to who made the decision for this and got it to happen.

As much as I've stubbornly complained about bank and inventory storage limits for ages now, this news couldn't be more welcome! I've maxxed out purchasing all available bank and inventory slots and was barely squeaking by (particularly with bank slots). Very happy player here! Many, many thanks for this gift and news!:D

No it's the new Galaxy Dreadnought that will actually take up 12 inventory slots...

Thank you very very very much. I don't know about others, but I will be treating this as an apology gift/peace offering for all the Season 8 snafus. It would have been nice to be able to spend an equivalent amount of free ZEN as I wished, but I'm not complaining. I'm just making a suggestion for the next time, which we all know will eventually happen
