Tour of the galaxy daily version

sanokskyratsanokskyrat Member Posts: 479 Media Corps
So I've given a go with tour of the galaxy. I have mixed feelings about this now. here are a list of the changes. Mission gets drops after 15 mins.

1. Now Daily. (20 hours cool down)
2. Map now shows you area you need to go.
3. Reward amount changed (25,000 EC, 35 Exploration XP, 25 Trade XP)
4. New Romulus sector added
5. its now on a 15 min timer

First of all I've tried this with 5 toons all with Borg sets or MACO (and Drive coil maxed) and its hard to finish. this is because sometime when you go to some sectors they do not trigger.

Also now with NR added its hard to finish fast I keep getting to Cardassia Area and it gets drop before i can finish the mission.

Not saying its impossible to do... just not sure its worth it.

    -polite snip-

..wow, that sounds like they further nerfed the tour - it might be a constant 25k ec bonus now you can tie into your doffing, but in general its a massive, mind boggling nerf on top of a nerf

It hardly seems worth it anymore with the reduced rewards. I think they should restore the old rewards. The rest of the changes seem OK. Fifteen minutes is about how long it would take players with the max driver coil and the Borg engines to complete it, though they can't dawdle.

Wow Cryptic, you really hate the Tour don't you? Just go home already.

I just ran the Tour on Tribble. None of the sectors in the Iota Pavonis Sector Block registered, even though I'm sure I passed through them all. I went through all of them a second time just to double-check.

Even with my ships doing transwarp 30 or 35 and borg set or MACO and nothing doing wrong i still can not finish it.

I would have finished on time if the sectors in Iota Pavonis registered. They need to fix that bug.

So, the old version had a full hour to complete and the new version only allows 15 minutes?

That's quite unfair. I used to pick up DOFF missions on my round each map.

I can understand the reduced reward, but this mission needs enough of a time limit to be almost completable without any fancy ship gear!

Do people actually still do the tour? I haven't done it since they gave it a cooldown I just didn't feel reward was worth it anymore.

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

Wow, half the amount for half the event frequency.
    5. its now on a 15 min timer
Even with Borg or MACO engines, I barely complete this in 15 minutes on the Fed side. I would like a dev, with a normal ship, with less than 3 skill points in Driver Coil, without MACO/Borg engines, with no "-50% Quantum Drive cooldown" upgrade, to do the whole run and show me how this is possible.

So, half the rewards, and barely enough time to finish it.
What's next? If you can't complete it, all the rewards you gained from the sector blocks you passed through are taken back with a fee?

Devs, if you really hate us making money by not grinding and murdering our way through elite STFs, just say so and stop beating about the bush.

We're planning more changes to this (and fixing the Iota Pav./ Psi Vel. bug), so it's not in its final reward state. Watch for patch notes with more info.

Looking at it from a programmer POV I see you guys are working pretty hard pumping out some major changes every week. Nonetheless how the Tour has been handled, I have to mention (again) that considering the Tour, it has been nothing less than a real facecouch.

Um, at least as far as EC goes it's NOT half the reward, it's the same amount. 25k*14=350k

I think something else you might want to look into is getting Quantum Slipstream to stop auto-deactivating after changing maps. One of the main reasons the Tour used to go so quickly was the ability to maintain Slipsteam through multiple sector blocks as long as there was still time left. I haven't been able to do that since LoR came out. Once that's fixed, there might be different results with the 15 minute timer.

Nah, the reward was always per Sector Block space. In the old version, this would mean 50k for Federation space [Sirius/Regulus/Pi Canis] - in the new version, it's 25k for Sirius, 25k for Regulus and 25k for Pi Canis.

Adding them all up on both versions, and the total amount is the same: 350k EC

At least if I'm reading all this right...

But yeah, 30 mins would work better imo; it'd still be a rush, but there would be room to do it

    Nope, not worth doing still.

Make it a 30 minute time limit, 1-2 Million EC and 960 Dilithium for completion, and then we can talk.

Anything else and you might as well just go the whole way, and remove it from the game.

Thanks. I had not noticed this. In that case, the rewards haven't been reduced for the complete tour. The EC reward is the same, and the CXP rewards are slightly increased. However, there is no longer any advantage to running the short route.

Does time spent in the loading screen count towards the 15 minutes you have to complete the tour? If I remember correctly, the cooldown timers for slipstream and transwarp don't count down while you are loading. Since players have no control over how long they spend loading, I don't think this time should count towards the time limit.

I also noticed that the Tour can now be picked up from the mission journal, so you can start the Tour from anywhere. Has anyone checked if aligned Romulans have the mission contact for the Tour?

Lastly, at some point, a bug was introduced preventing you from zooming the map out all the way in certain sector blocks (I believe the vertically oriented ones). It is very annoying to have to drag the map several times in order reach the location you want to click, especially during the Tour when you are pressed for time.

I think it's unfair. I've got 4 toons, With my Primary (and first toon I've been playing this game) shouldn't be problem to complete in 15 minutes (I have all the borg set). But for other three toons (not possible - they don't have borg set), and when I talk about my Romulan (reman) toon - even 30 minutes would be questionable. Becouse romulan ships are soooooooo slow, that I don't think even borg set would do the trick. And with that I wonder - why did they made romulan ships soo slow? It's so anoying. What's helping you if you have all mk XII weapons if ship turns and travells with SNAIL SPEED?

By using a borg engine i do the new tour in approx. 12 minutes.
Borg Engine MK X you can get quite early in the omega reputation.

Fed-aligned Reman here. Can pick the tour without any problems.

When people were doing the tour at the set hour they saw some other players racing across the galaxy as well.

This no longer happens with the current daily solo-tour which as people already pointed out is so absolutely not worth it besides that.

Anyone that is running full DC and MACO/Borg should be able to finish it. I'm running MACO and 3 points in DC with the Solanae core to finish it with 1.5 minutes left on the clock. So my question is, are you still starting it in the bar at ESD (or on Qo'nos)? If so, start it in sector space instead, since it's now available in your daily mission list. Also, try looking at your route, make it more stream lined so that you're backtracking across sectors as little as possible.
