Yup. It's one thing to blame a user's computer, but given the amount of issues it's obviously cryptic servers to some effect. I started noticing issues yesterday when I tried to update. I too have done normal troubleshooting procedures and this is the only program that I'm having issues with.

Now comparing your original 'Trace Route' results and your 'Path Ping' results, the Path Ping is only getting to Hop #7, while the Trace Route completes in 13 hops. It appears there is something wrong (as far as your STO network connection are concerned...) with the Cogent backbone...
You might want to post the All of the diagnostic results on the Network Section of the PWE Tech Support site, so that PWE IT people can put a little pressure on their Cogent business relationship to see if they can get something done about this...
another day has come and it's still kicking me out of the game every 1 to 3 minutes. this started right after the 2nd emergency patch yesterday morning when i woke to see a second small patch. Everything was fine till that. Now for the life of me cant stay in the game longer than a few minutes before seeing 'Server not responding' or ' couldn't connect to game server'. The launcher is acting stupid to with 'Error 118' whatever the hell that is. Good job Cryptic, maybe you will save me some money.
WTH Cryptic? Look, i work all week long and only get to come home on the weekends. I was thinking 'Man, cant wait to get home to try out the winter event and work on my rep'. But you guys have shot that all to hell. Come home only to find out that not only does the launcher not work but neither does STO. Out of 5 tries it worked 1 time, then when i did get in, it came up 'Server Not Responding', kicked me to the login screen. tryed to relog and ' Failed to connect to Gameserver'. Now what do i have to look forward to? STO is where i spend not only my time but also my money. Went and bought 100$ worth of Perfect World gaming cards and already redeemed the codes only to find out i cant stay in the game but a few minutes without being kicked out cause 'Server not responding'. Now i will have no choice but to wait till NEXT weekend to see if you fixed this or not. Thx very much for this awsome winter event (NOT).

Now this can't be right... The pathping is claiming you're directly connected to the crypticstudios.com network with nothing in-between...
DNS issue??? Try doing a DNS flush (GOOGLE Search will get you the instructions to do this...) and try doing the test again.. And if Hop #2 keeps timing out, you should contact your ISP and ask about that...
100% Packet loss at the Boston Cogent hub, definitive proof that this is the cause of your connection issues...
Hubs can be configured to not respond to pings, thus giving 100% package loss when pinged, even though they do through-traffic just fine. This is often done to improve web traffic.
Saying that a 100% ping automatically means it's the culprit is similar to saying someone is dead because they are not answering the phone.
If the hub would have a 100% package loss, the connection would stop there, not go on through to the next hub.
However....
From what I saw from those traces of people complaining they have connection trouble, a huge number have cogent as hubs.
Good news.

I gave up expecting Cryptic to fix these problems relating to the graphics issue. Despite Bran Flakes closing down that thread and saying that the issue has been fixed is incorrect because I'm still experiencing those same graphics crashes.
Star Trek Online has officially become the worst MMO I have ever played because of the lack of support with Cryptic trying to fix these issues. possibilitiesare a thing of hope, sometimes it drives us toward something better
between the constant game crashes in the middle of doing anything even as small a task as changing ship equipment all the way to full out battle in stf's to the also ever so constant server disconnects this game is becoming a nightmare to try to play...ive tried everything i can think of and read about to keep the game from crashing and nothing is working...i really wish someone would fix the profound problem because im pretty sure its not a "user error" on my end causing this TRIBBLE to happen!
Everything looks good on our end -- none of our reporting shows otherwise. It could be a local or regional ISP issue, but unfortunately, there isn't anything we can do on our end about those.
Hope it resolves itself for you and others experiencing this!
While I appreciate that "everything looks good" on your end. Is there ever going to be acknowledgement that when you guys do whatever it is you did in the last week to your code, chunks of your playerbase suddenly cannot maintain a connection to the game?
You honestly expect us to believe that these two events are not related to each other?
I don't expect you to know each and every connection issue solution, but at least a "hey we realize "something" happened and we're looking into it" would be appreciated.
I've been unable to play STO due to the disconnects now for almost a week coming right on the tail of another "emergency patch"
I apologize for the bluntness of my post, and I know that you're mostly the poor sob that's gotta get out here and talk to us, but can we at least have honest discourse?
I ran 4 characters this morning through the 'Fastest Game on Ice' & 'Winter Invasion' as well as several 'Snowman' events without the slightest issue. So the Servers are working fine, and something else must be causing your problems...
I'm going to add myself and my father to this thread as having an issue with staying connected. We both live in different parts of the US (MT and NC) and have different ISPs. While he did not suffer nearly as many crashes as I did, it was still noticeable. This is my first time playing since the Winter patch was introduced, and I've already crashed to desktop about 13 times. I'll add that I've never had troubles with crashing before this point. All of these crashes occurred when the game attempted to stream data, and especially when I tried to transfer zones. My father's crash consisted of one solitary moment, however he was unable to reenter the game because the launcher stuck him in an hour long patch loop that never actually patched anything in the game; it just refused to connect with the server and verify that nothing needed to be patched. I'd mark it up as 'odd' that a bunch of different people are crashing so suddenly and haven't had connection issues in the past.
I ran 4 characters this morning through the 'Fastest Game on Ice' & 'Winter Invasion' as well as several 'Snowman' events without the slightest issue. So the Servers are working fine, and something else must be causing your problems...
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
Not on a wireless network, connected directly to my modem.
Anecdotally I've had no issues whatsoever with any other game, and until this last week I've had no issues connecting to the game in any way shape or form.
I have not altered/edited/upgraded/downgraded/shifted/changed/installed/uninstalled/moved/shimmied or otherwise changed my computer/internet/software/hardware/ any-other-ware/ set up / home/location/connection/hairstyle/clothing/ or food tastes in any way between when my connections to this game was fine about a week ago to now, where I get dc'd after about 2 minutes of game-time.

I ran 4 characters this morning through the 'Fastest Game on Ice' & 'Winter Invasion' as well as several 'Snowman' events without the slightest issue. So the Servers are working fine, and something else must be causing your problems...
Thanks for this totally worthless response.
