Just another thing. It might take a little while for them to get and do every thing in one patch. So you just have to be pacent with them.
    I'm so happy :D

    Howdy Taylor,

I agree, yet I feel like this is worse than LoR . That wasn't as bad as this. I can't seem to play sto for more than 5 minutes, since season 8 launch. And it's soo depressing. I'm wondering if I'm ever going to be able to play the game or visit Bajor ever again. I can't even log in sometimes.

I agree about the winter event, my reason for loggin in right now is to just play foundry episodes.

Yet I can't even stay logged in for 5 minutes.

By the way, luv the pic of Cloud, that's one of my favorite psone games I have.

I'm on the east coast of Canada.. not sure if different regions are having different outcomes.
Some are playing with no problems at all :(
Really sucks you can't get on though. I hope you have better luck tonight.
*granted, I don't think it was this bad for LoR*

    And yep
Same here my, one of my favorite games... Story and soundtrack were brilliant...hard to find games of that quality anymore.
One of the few games that have actually made me choke up. Been meaning to buy the pc version from good old games... :)

Anyway hope this gets better for everyone...I know this game is great, and theres some sad ppl out there with sto withdrawl..

Have that too. At first I got into the character selection screen and got kicked with a "Login2 Timeout..." message.

Now, I can't even log into the game.

Seems like the Login servers are wonky...

I'm not saying it is your problem, but it's not on our end, as evidenced by the tracerts posted in this thread.

Here's what I've done: I've passed along your tracerts to the team and requested, that if possible, to forward them along to the Cognet.

While I wish there was more we could do in the immediate, I will continue to monitor the tracerts posted in this thread and forward them along.

Re: the above - we heard back from Cogent, and they actually mentioned for those affected to reach out to Time Warner/ Roadrunner to report the issues you are experiencing. It looks like many of the tracerts in this thread start with .rr (Roadrunner/ Time Warner).

We hope they are able to resolve it quickly for you.

    Cheers,

It will be interesting if anyone gets Time Warner to say it's their problem. Every time I have DC'ed, I ran a Tracert and found that the ping times to everything EXCEPT cogentco were in the 60ms ping time.

I have a bad feeling that providing the trace route to TWC will result in nothing but passing the buck around because the trace route is fine until it hits Cogentco. Nonetheless, I will contact TWC as soon as I get home and experience another DC to where I can perform a trace route. Here is hoping that I dont get stuck between a rock (Cogentco) and a hard place (TWC).

This is pretty much deja vu. Cogent is saying exactly what the other company said. "It's not our fault it's your provider's fault." Time Warner will come back and say it isn't their fault it's Cogent's. Cryptic will continue to apologize but say it's out of their hands and eventually some non-related change will occur somewhere in the pipeline and the issue will magically vanish with no one having to accept any responsibility.

    Same here.

Yesterday I had the worst connectivity. I get high frames, and yet with the lag it felt like I had 10 fps. Switching to the US proxy server seemed to solve it for me. But now it's worse.

Dropped packets from hop #1 onward ?!?! This does not look like a healthy network at all... Try rebooting/power cyciling your router AND your ISP modem/gateway and see if this improves the connection. You may also need to check your network cables, as something is causing serious data loss starting from your home network...

    Matt

Just an update from my call with TWC. Anything before *.tbone.rr.com (TWC's backbone) is TWC responsibility. After that, it is on the other providers. So using my trace route below, TWC's responsibility ends at Hop #6, after that, guess who picks up the connection.......

BTW - I am on TWC's Wideband (50Mbps) connection in central Ohio.

But if the problem is being caused by the ISP and Internet backbone providerrs, there is nothing that Cryptic/PWE can do, as they don't own the Internet, and only the ISPs involved can correct the issue...

If it's the code base, how would you explain that the majority of people don't have the problem.
  • amahoodamahood Member Posts: 0 Arc User

looks to me like alot of people are having the same problem I am. Fact is, if the problem didn't exist before season 8 , then it's only logical that it is still STO's or cryptic's fault to fix.

That's ok, I've seen how nothing is going to be done with it, so I'm finished with STO for now.

Since the attitude of sto is it's not their problem, then there's no point me spending any more money on this game.

that's sad, I really like sto.

Yet if that's their attitude I've had enough. And I don't doubt that alot of others whom feel as I do, will do the same.

Goodbye sto, too bad you aren't willing to admit your own faults.

    :(

What I have put in Bold is the problem that most of us have been saying. Everything is fine with ping times until you hit Cogentco and then at least ONE of their sites has an abnormal ping time in relation to everyone else.

Now look at the final hop which is Cryptics server and compare it with the one I put in bold. The problem is not Cyptic's and there is really nothing we can do about it. If you (or anyone else) is mad or frustrated at the DCs, I suggest that the best course of action is to direct that anger towards Cogentco. There is nothing that Cryptic or your local ISP can do about the wild ping times from Cogentco.

looks to me like alot of people are having the same problem I am.

    :(

How can they admit a fault that is not theirs? As most everyone here that has posted their trace routes to the patch server have noted, it is COGENTCO that is the problem. If it was on Cryptic's end, then the ping times for the last hop would be out of the norm.

Please keep in mind that there is A LOT of reasons for lag and disconnects. Could there be something in the last patch that aggravates the bad ping times; sure. However, until the COGENTCO ping times get back in the norm, there is nothing that points that it is Cryptic's fault.

I wish you would reconsider quitting STO since you like it. If it was a situation with Cryptic that I feel was their fault, you better believe I would be hitting the devs up about it every time I got an opportunity. If you have not done so, please post your trace route to the Cryptic server so that everyone can see. It may be COGENTCO (safe bet) that is causing your problems or it could be something else. Without it, we are just guessing.

Okay, I can't be the only one suffering from this. I mentioned it to Branflakes during last night's Community Rampage - to which he said everything was fine on their end - but it's persisted since then, to the point where the game is almost unplayable due to repeated "Server Not Responding" messages.

Just to clarify, i'm in the UK and everything else seems to work fine when it comes to what I can see - internet, other online games etc. If it's a regional/national issue, then, well, I have no idea.

The most curious thing is it only seems to be affecting my Klingon toon. Playing as my Fed or Romulan seems to be fine. Touch wood.

Anyone else suffering from this lag?

A lot of rubberbanding in space and ground missions. But it seems to decrease in severity after about a 1/2 hour or so.
I thought it was my ISP, but everything is in order according to them.

My friend and I are getting it too.

    Both UK based.

Both good laptops, both decent internet.
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.

    I hope STO get's better ...

Pro Tip: If your "fix the servers" thread is the only one on Page 1, it's probably not the servers.

It might not even be the servers fault, if you even considered that.
anyway, this would be better answered in the troubleshooting section.

has it occuared to you this could also be on your end and/or a connection error?
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
    What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!
