Some reason on hope 7 the packet was dropped but, then picks up again at hop 8, I would like to know how that works. Oh by the way I would really like to quote somthing from the State of the Game 2013 that I found interesting: "there?s still a long way to go and many improvements needed and old bugs to squash before we can be satisfied that we?ve built the best Star Trek game ever" Now can this please include actually improving the connection to the game? Its great to come out with nice features, lockboxes and other stuff but, if no one can actually login and play the game what's the point? I have been having random disconnects with server not responding errors to random game crashes and also seriouse lag issues which have not been solved yet, and now today after a patch I cannot even log into the game;game launcher will not show up. I very rerely express frusteration on the forums but, can these server end issues be resolved? Once that is done bugs can be fixed more content can come and then may STO become the best Star Trek game ever

I had this exact issue last week ... Did not want to send a ticket because we all know how slow they are answered so spent 3 hrs searching thru the support section and the forums until I ran across this in a forum post ... http://files.startrekonline.com/launcher/Star%20Trek%20Online.exe
I downloaded it and installed it and other than the PC asking me everytime if I wanna run it it works just fine ....
Freedom of the press too...Something your media doesnt have...
actualy they do only we want them to be accountable for their actions. hacking phones running people off the roads (princess diana), and printing things without any evidence.etc......
It's resolving through a cognetco server that is leased by PWE.
Also, others are able to access that server and log in, whilst some are not.
As others are able to resolve 38.111.40.114, one assumes this is an issue with load balancing.
Those folks don't understand routing and that CogNetCo is a major internet backbone... More than 25% of all internet traffic goes through them. The problem isn't the routing of CogNetCo, it is the routing of the firewall/router/ds-termination unit connecting PWE to CogNetCo. This is like saying me not being able to send you $50.00 isn't my fault because my ISP/Router is inop.
Said NO to Arc. Gets punished by not being given a free outfit, free lobi, and free shuttle. Now forced to use Arc's site when trying to get to STO site. Still not rewards for beta testing the Arc website by force. Bravo Cryptic.
conspiracy? maybe, kinda, sorta. but i need bran flakes to send me a private message so i can reply with the problem as i earesed her last message and dont have a way to message her.
Waaait... you already gave the conspiracy away.
Brandon Felczer is a girl?
actualy they do only we want them to be accountable for their actions. hacking phones running people off the roads (princess diana), and printing things without any evidence.etc......
Therefore, I couldent say that this server being inoperative was Cryptic's fault because i have no evidence to back that statement up...Interesting

The guy from Cryptic said it had nothing to do with the patch. This was happening before the patch came out he said

Once that is done bugs can be fixed more content can come and then may STO become the best Star Trek game ever
thank you.

I had this issue from the UK using Virgin Internet.... SOLVED using OpenVPN and a free VPN server. Here's the one I used.
Link to OpenVPN config file :-
http://www.vpnbook.com/free-openvpn-account/VPNBOOK.com-OpenVPN-UDP-25000.zip
Login details for the config file :-
username: freeopenvpn Password: J8hfCiu6W
If you dont have OpenVPN installed, heres what you need to install :-

Install, configure, and play. Happy days.

I reiterate:
It happened on the last patch too, for the same reasons.
Expect it on every patch from now on.
let's see if I'm right.

How much would you bet on it?
Glad this works for you, it doesn't work for me
ice block is solid
cooling the server
spring arrives
Either way, I support this motion.
He's dead, Jim.
So was i. Hopefully everything's up again soon.
actualy they do only we want them to be accountable for their actions. hacking phones running people off the roads (princess diana), and printing things without any evidence.etc......
Looks like that's not a solution...Most people say it doesnt help on that topic.
Yeah, there's no connection at all between existing network problems and the release of a big, bandwidth-intenstive patch.
The patch itself may not be the cause, but it's a shifty bit of tap-dancing to claim it's not related at all.
All the forum Rage here that will happen next time as well.
As long as cogentco is in the loop and they don't patch the launcher to sto/perfectworld.com.
Waaait... you already gave the conspiracy away.
Brandon Felczer is a girl?
He's dead, Jim.
Therefore, I couldent say that this server being inoperative was Cryptic's fault because i have no evidence to back that statement up...Interesting
Ironic that.
