any NIC on the way could be faulty, that is true, but then there would be other services impaired as well... maybe there are, maybe not. But since players are online and I guess it's the same Datacenter, the problem should be well within the Datacenter...
Not really, it depends on how they route/load balance. It could be the specific route into the center for the patching. The point being that some people CAN patch means it's network and routing related - the server would not discriminate between locations, that's a router/load balancing job.
Anyway, it's all conjecture as I do not know their network layout. Was just offering a best guess at the problem.
Strangely enough, I tried tethering it with my mobile and it did seem to allow me to download the patch, However trying to swap back to my usual ISP only went back to the usual patch loading problems.
Fun times, A year out of the game and I try to come back to the same reasons I left in the first place.
actually i cant even get to the startrekonline website , same thing as the launcher , no connect possible

Also the cryptic staff are doing their jobs and trying to get this sorted, which is all anyone can do at the moment so shut up and post yer damn traces.
for that I would like to have a Dominion with the Escort Carrier in it for compensation !
I already opened several of these Boxes and I only got junk !
Hah! Count yourself lucky. I must have opened 150odd boxes (if not more) with the same result as you, luckily I'd saved up enough Lobi from the past that I was able to purchase the Dreadnought from the Lobi Store, sell it on the Exchange and buy an Escort from my winnings.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt the money I put into that is the last ever. Wasted far too much on boxes for that Escort, and besides, I can't see myself wanting any other alien ships. The Cardassian, Breen and Jem Hadar ships ought to be enough for me.
i opened about 300 boxes and got a bunch of other stuff but no ship i would like a heavy escort carrier as well! i think its stupid that you make us spend so much on keys and don't even offer up an increasing chance relative to how many boxes you opened.. its absolutely ludicrous what it takes to get one of those..
Whilst I can appreciate how annoyed you might be, you can't blame Cryptic for their lock boxes. Truth be told, they aren't forcing you to put money toward those keys. It's by your choice and greed for an alien ship (a ship that is equally on par with some FED ships anyway). Fact is, it's a random gamble. Doesn't always work in our favour. I've got two lock box ships (and the Chel Grett). These will do me just fine.
Same problem. There already was a thread about this but it has been moved. See you there when they are merged.

i see the last post was over 3 hours ago,,, maybe some people are back in-game, but there is no such luck for me. just wanted to confirm this is still an issue. thanks
Strangely enough, I tried tethering it with my mobile and it did seem to allow me to download the patch, However trying to swap back to my usual ISP only went back to the usual patch loading problems.

If you've managed to patch, try loading the gameclient.exe in the STO directory.
I wonder if its the same router issue it was before. I would test it by just trying to bypass the router, but Its a pain to get to, so I won't. If anyone else wants to try, we sure would appreciate the feedback.
Firstly, I'm one of the "few" that cannot open the patcher, but before the servers went down, I was able to purchase a ton of Zen. When I purchased this Zen, it did not show up in my account as processing or anything -- like it had never happened.
So, I contact support -- I get a canned response that it is Paypal's fault. I call PayPal and the agent at PayPal insists I'm being scammed and that their systems are running as intended -- he also states that PWE has their money as the transaction shows clearly on PayPal's side. So, now to clarify the situation and to give PWE a chance to explain things, I call, I call, I call, I call some more... I've been calling since 20 mins ago and no one answers the phone during their normal business hours....
I am so inspired by trust in PWE right about now.....
Said NO to Arc. Gets punished by not being given a free outfit, free lobi, and free shuttle. Now forced to use Arc's site when trying to get to STO site. Still not rewards for beta testing the Arc website by force. Bravo Cryptic.
I made the mistake of having Steam verify the files
Looks like I won't be getting a monday morning Q XP boost... I just started on Saturday, already a Captain thanks to that. Would probably be an admiral if I did less PvE.
Aside (I can't make new threads yet ): is there any point in opening Dominion Lock Boxes before you're level 50? I got a great purple piece when I opened one earlier, but it was a Mk II and is now useless. I'm guessing I won't get any ships, etc.

...nope, not working here either.
They are investigating and can't give an ETA since they don't know what the problem is yet. That's the latest update so I assume nothing has changed.
