The forums are the worst place to get general opinion from. It's mostly disgruntled players. Don't listen to people here. In fact, don't even listen to me. (aside from this next bit) Get the game and decide for yourself.

I honestly couldn't tell. Blasted text. It just doesn't convey things as well as it should. I've already done what I've said straight on their other forums. There should be logs of what I did. Enough to track down what they need to find. In other news...I just finished my vBulletin downloader. I started working on it…

You say that now, but...well, the post-move exploit still works. Various other DOM editing related exploits still work (they attempted to hide them with CSS. That did not work). There is also an exploit that allows me to obtain information that I kinda assume I'm not supposed to be able to reveal, but Vanilla's system is…

You were doing it correctly the other way. You do not put a DNS host entry and an IP address. Just one or the other. Putting both will cause it to only use the last one written. In your case, the IPs. In Windows Vista and above what you wrote simply won't work. I was thinking it might be a non-local wireless connection,…

That's because all you did was flush your DNS cache, which was completely unnecessary as pwieast3.perfectworld.com was translating to the correct IP. PWE support strongly lacks technical networking skills or knowledge. If you want more help, you need to provide Sylen with a Speccy report. Sylen explains how to get it in…

Hop 6 and Hop 11 are the problematic hops from my point of view. Hop 12 just isn't bothering to respond to ICMP packets. Probably for anti-DDoS reasons. Anyways, uh, I'll let Sylen handle the rest as it doesn't seem like a networking issue to me. At least not from these results.

What exactly are you expecting?

Take money troubles to PWE/Arc support. They should be able to help you resolve it. They are rather fast about these kinds of issues. Link to support: https://support.arcgames.com/app/support_center

If the name was too long, you couldn't append [1], [2], etc. to the name as it would get cut off. They would have to increase the total name size by 3, which means 6 extra useless bytes for every character in the database. Unless they use variable size names with a max cap. Also, if you did this, someone could conceivably…

Since when? I've actually seen activity pick up since coming back a few months ago. Anyone spouting this opinion is just the typical doomsday spreader. They've been spouting the same **** since the game started. As for your question, the name database must be shared between servers for them to merge. Also, what if you had…

You are only off by one level. Level 21 is the start and Level 80 is the highest. Each Jolly quest level is sectioned off like this... 21-30 31-40 41-50 51-60 61-70 71-80 You can only have 1 character for each grouping. So if you have a level 41 person and a level 51 person, they can both get Jolly stuff without…

Before this thread deteriorates further I'm going to attempt to fix the conversation... Vanflyheight, since you only have 1 computer, you can not say with certainty that it isn't specific to your computer. Also, the fact that it works on mine says that the problem does lie with your system. As for the AV issue, it is not…

FireFox is just overly dramatic about SSL security. It's not as unsafe as FireFox makes it out to be. Don't get me wrong, they should update, but FireFox is also a spaz. I mean, as an example, they won't allow self-signed certificates to be used which results in a large number of big sites, such as Google, to be blocked. I…

I don't want to ruin the fun thought of that, but... To be honest this is a very Chinese thing. This is the year of the Sheep (or Goat).

You should have given the things you've tried so we'd know where to go. This is a checklist of things to try. 1. Remove Arc completely and reinstall it. Then try to run it. That worked for someone. 2. Try running the patcher through the Arc bypass method. Go to the "Program Way" or "Manual Way" on this post (ignore the…

It's a random bug. Some days the event works fully, some days half of it works, others it doesn't at all. I've had the first part work and the boss part not. I've had the first part not work and the boss part did. Then I've had both work and I've had neither work. It's totally random and there is no correlation to anything…

Both of you need to go read the stickies in the Technical Support forum. Seeing as how the connection to PW's servers has been relatively stable, aside from whatever was going on the other day, this is most probably an issue on your side. Excluding Dreamweaver, because I don't know what is going on with that server. If you…

Nah, they actually do put a link in place to add the sigpic BBCode, but they put it in a really awkward location where it's hard to notice it. They didn't bother to make it look like a button or anything. If you look to the right of the image you uploaded, there is a message that says "Insert Signature Picture". Clicking…

Support can help you recover an account as long as you have the security question answer, your name, DoB, at least 1 character name on the account and its server or the account username (or maybe even the display username) set on the account.
-
I know you might feel stupid after I state this, but if you look at the bottom of the page on the Signature Editing page. There is a part called "Signature Permissions". Under it you should notice that a ton of BBCode is disabled. Namely the ones I noticed that you tried to use in your signature. The only image you can use…

If you open the patcher through the bypass methods, does it do the same thing? If it does do the same thing. PWI needs to be reinstalled, cause it sounds like the patcher got corrupted some how.
-
So am I hearing that they half fixed it? Can I get the specifics. Has everyone who installed the newest Arc update restarted their computer? Does the game patcher open when you try to open the game? If not, if you open up task manager, can patcher.exe be found running? If so, could you enable the "Command Line" column of…

Probably Halloween. It's the only holiday that gives me an excuse to eat candy in a manner befitting someone who wants to have a heart attack.

I caused the forums to throw up information the other night. There are still bugs. I have not disclosed this one yet, though. It may have been already reported to Vanilla for all I know. Either way, the forums, without a doubt, have security issues spanning far outside simple user posts.

I was not being routed through the internal LA node this time around. I think anyone using Time-Warner cable may also have been experiencing issues due to a backbone node problem, that is actually still ongoing.
-
Short Explanation: Was gone, but I have logs which show...nothing that could verify the point of a problem. Long Explanation: My ISP is BHN (which uses Time-Warner Cable's backbone), my logs (while I was gone) show very significant drops from both them and telia.net. I also saw mild drops happening from pnap.net and PWE.…

Do you know about the "Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool"? You can just pop Windows Vista, 7, 8 (, 8.1), and 10 onto a USB with it now. In my opinion its nicer since people generally have at least 1 working USB port. Whereas I've seen a number of computers that, for some reason, did not have DVD drives or their DVD trays…

If you think mere classes are draining, you will probably never make it. I quit it because of the insane stress of the work. I mean, I enjoy security and breaking malware down, but it's a lot of work. It requires serious patience and you really, really, need to know everything new. It was just a little too much for someone…

AFAIK, only a PWE employee should be able to remove them. Optionally, if possible, when reawakening, try to complete the quest within the specified level. I find it strange that they expected us to be able to do anything.
-
No you can't. Downloading something will not do anything. You can only get issues from being an ignorant user. I haven't had a virus on my computer, ever. To not get one you just need to have all plugins disabled while viewing anything and use up-to-date browsers for your own safety. Also don't install/use anything you…
