  • I second the staunch worms. They are over the beach by the Tideborn city. They don't fight back, so they're just punching bags for your pet. If the nix has a little trouble with them at first, just get on the ground and one-shot all the low level mobs until the nix is strong enough to kill the staunch worms more easily.
  • Are you feeding your pet regularly? Feeding it will increase its loyalty, which will make it fight harder and gain more experience. You should have recieved 200 pure water from a quest when you got your pet; feed the pet one water whenever it gets hungry. You can tell when the pet is hungry by looking at its picture, next…
  • Summer Sprint only works on the ground. No effect in air or water. b:surrender
  • The pet is a separate creature that merely takes commands from the veno. So attacks, stuns, etc. directed at the pet would affect the pet.
  • As pointed out, the gender-lock is probably due to elements of Chinese history and/or mythology. But really, it's no big deal. I play both male and female characters (What's wrong with having a hot dude on my screen? b:chuckle) and it hasn't really affected anything. Very rarely have I been hit on by either gender, and I…
  • You should be able to solo the single mode (I've done those with a Quadrastral Beetle; any decent tank pet will do), but there will be fewer bosses and a much lower drop rate. The Herc is needed to solo squad mode.
  • Solo mode? Sure. Pretty much any pet that's decently tanky can do the solo mode, especially if you have at least one or two pieces of channeling gear.
  • Actually, 1 strength and 4 magic every level is twice as much strength as you need. Magic gear only requires 1 strength every 2 levels. Any more than that is pretty much a waste on an arcane build.
  • You're welcome. I myself am an arcane veno who plans on restatting to heavy armor later, for PvP purposes. Heavy armor has the largest repair bills, so you'll find it easier to save up money for your endgame build when you are arcane or light armor.b:victory
  • How are you spending your stat points? Are you spending them at all? If you don't know what I'm talking about, press C while you are in game, and your stat info will appear. There are four stats: vitality, magic, strength, and dexterity. Each of these values begins at 5, and you recieve 5 points every level, which you can…
  • A heavy armor veno? Frankly, that's for veteran players. You are better off making an arcane or light armor veno first to get a feel for the class, and then when you understand what you're doing, you'll be better able to pull it off. In fact, many heavy armor venos begin as arcane or light armor and only switch to heavy at…
  • The Armored Bear is a good tanking pet. This means that it can take plenty of hits without getting killed, so it's good to send this pet against a monster while you attack from a distance. It doesn't deal a lot of damage, but damage is not the point of a tanking pet; defense is. However, you must be at least level 80 to…
  • I got Blademaster. O.o I got rid of my BM ages ago.
  • If your mana was at 0, perhaps. I never let my mana get that low (I usually flip at about 20-25%), so I can't speak from experience. Also, if there was any kind of DoT on you, such as poison or bleed, that would have done it.
  • The emergency burst of healing would be nice, but no purify. That would just unbalance the mystic and cleric.
  • Play wiz or archeri f you want to deal damage. If you enjoy soloing and/or semi-support role, play veno.
  • When you have the hotkey menu open, make sure you have highlighted the command you want to remap. Just click on it on the menu, and it should highlight. Then press the key you want to remap to. The only reason I can think of that it would not work is that you failed to highlight the right item, or tried to use a locked…
  • What Dyskrasia said. Press k to see the hotkey menu, and from there you can remap all hotkeys. My own hotkeys are extensively customized, and yes, I can send my pet to attack at the mere push of a button. b:pleased No clumsy clicking for me. So try it. It may take some experimentation to find a configuration that is…
  • I'm well aware of the drawbacks of LA; I see it as a beginning to mid-game build, for the most part. My veno is currently arcane, but will likely be restatting to HA at endgame. If I ever level the mystic that far, I might restat him as well and share gear across both chars. In the mean time, my bf is trying a HA mystic…
  • Yeah, you didn't really need to make a new character just to level a pet. In fact, pets level way faster than players, so it honestly would have been easier just to level it on the character you already had. You'll come to see that pet leveling is like a part-time job for a veno. I'm careful about keeping all pets…
  • For one thing: heals are for healing. Sounds obvious, but seriously, that's what heals are there for. Nothing wrong with healing yourself mid-fight. In fact, I'm pretty sure the mystic heal was made for mid-fight healing; the short channel is perfect for it. Arcane armor is excellent for any magic-wielding class. You will…
  • Is shaodu cub's big brother! :O
  • And if the steps and links here aren't doing it for you, you can ask another veno in game (maybe one in your faction) to demonstrate and coach you a bit. I've done that for faction mates before.b:victory
  • I'm not even sage or demon yet, and I am a fan of this skill and always use it on bosses. It seems to help keep the barb's repair bill down, since his armor doesn't take quite as much abuse.
  • What Vorken said. Reflect is what enables AoE grinding, which is one of the perks of the Herc. Mobs hit the Herc and get damaged (and thus aggroed) by the Reflect, whether the Herc is attacking that particular mob or not.
  • Sage version has a chance to give two sparks, but consumes one spark. Demon version gives one spark, but has a chance not to consume a spark. So either way, there is a chance to generate 2 sparks out of one. Regular Lending Hand is just one spark for one spark, though.
  • I don't think I'll ever get rid of my Quadrastral Beetle. His name is Bucket, and I've had him for ages. I got him because of his tanking abilities, but was soon squeeing over how cute he was--come on, he's tiny and blue and makes these cheerful squeaks at me. Even after I get my herc, I may still use Bucket while questing…
  • I might be going with the Herc first after all. When I want to do fast grinding or DPS, I already have a sawfly and a scorpion. And yes, my sawfly has gotten his head stuck in the mud a time or two.b:chuckle
  • That's what I've always heard, but I'm also told that TT is less profitable than it used to be, which is why I'm wondering. In any case, I think I'll suspend judgement until the mystic arrives, just to see what kind of impact it will make, although I don't plan on giving up the veno as my main.
  • A pet requires skill scrolls in order to learn skills. These scrolls can be purchesed from Mrs. Zoologist in Southeast Archosaur (the big city that you travel to at around level 20). Most of these cost about 200k coin, so they may be tricky to afford for a newer player. You should look them over and choose carefully. There…
