  • People always say Power has no diminishing returns, but it may be more accurate to say that it's already diminished returns. So, while it may go from 100 Crit to 500 Crit to get 1% more crit, and Power will keep on giving 1 damage per 25 Power, that doesn't change the fact that your 1% crit will deal more damage until…
  • /bind <key> "string"
  • /gfxsetdefaultfov 75
  • When it tells you bonus stuff, it's bonus on top of another amount. The most glory it's ever told me I got was one of my worst matches, because I didn't earn bonus stuff. So, yeah, when it tells you your awesomeness got you 25 glory, check your tab and note that you get 200. Then 25. Similarly, when you get a blue, it…
  • I'd suggest: 3 Votes to Kick The initiator of a kick has a 15 minute delay on being able to initiate a new vote to kick. This encourages a group to use its kicks responsibly and helps defray abuse.
  • I kinda wish the game showed a difference between "red circle - stand in me and take a little damage continually" and "red circle - you'll lose half your health and get knocked prone" and even "red circle - will one shot your sorry soul"
  • Turns out, the trick is to fling the monsters off the cliff, and then it's pretty fast. Given all the monster forced movement, it even looks quite intentional.
  • Ah well, there goes the hopes of something functional like a bag or cat :) I'm a bit disappointed there was nothing given for the loss of celestial coins or astral diamonds. I only lost 8 coins between my characters, but my wife lost 19 - and she'd gotten the blue ward from one of the 7s she cashed out Sunday, so that's a…
  • Thank you very much!
  • Eh, fwiw I found it a pretty **** awesome fight too. As a DC. It did take us two shots to figure it out - we paused after the first wipe, discussed things, and that got us through to the end. I did go through quite a handful of potions, I will admit. Presumably more than the rest of the group (combined). Still, boy did it…
  • You're also presumably healing, which could share Foresight, which can add another, what, 11%? (Or 2 x 11%?) Though everything might be multiplicative, so 1*.6*.6*.89*.89=28.5% damage taken.
  • Two rogues and two clerics sounds like a pretty good group to me :) Especially if the two clerics communicate with each other and load up appropriate powers. I think it does actually try to class match to a certain extent, it just gives up a certain point. In my last three skirmishes, I got DC (me), TR (my wife), GF, GWF,…
  • Evocation only works for a very few clearly all the time AoE skills, which doesn't include most of them.
  • So, for normal packs you should be able to chain on the pull, then divinity sear the pack. Or reverse timing if appropriate. I prefer Daunting Light over Searing, personally, but that should still be true with careful timing. That should clear the chaff and then your damaging at-will of choice for picking things off. What…
  • The following powers can smash monsters into the floor, as long as you have at least 1 point: Daunting Light Searing Light Chains of Blazing Light Do you have at least 2 of those? If so, toss them on your bar and you should be good to go. Just kill pulls before they get to you instead of trying to outheal monster damage.
  • You're thinking of Ice Storm - which is the huge spikes of ice from the floor that flings people everywhere. It hits hard, but is generally a terrible spell for groups. Again, there may be exceptions, but Singularity is so amazing in comparison that they're few and far between and only for the experts. Which I bring up…
  • A skilled CW can do wonderful things with Repel. It's a good option, especially one cycled in and out as appropriate for the pull, for CWs who have groups who know how to use it. Don't bring it to PUGs. Ever. You've got other options. Tab-Repel does great damage? How about tab-Chill Strike. Great damage, stuns an enemy,…
  • It'd be really dumb for companions to get Recovery bonuses if they did nothing. Their powers are all "encounter" powers with 2-30s cooldowns, for instance, so it should work just fine. That said, it probably does nothing. ;)
  • I have to admit, people have been eerily quiet. I don't know if that's a f2p thing or what, but I've largely stopped chatting because no one else does and people just sprint to the next objective.
  • It's not increasing the control by 10 seconds - it's increasing how long the trap will stick around. Where trap is when the glowing symbol is on the ground before monsters step on it. You might only see it if you miss on your targeting. You can use it prepull and have it last longer.
  • I'd be fine with being able to lock onto one ally as well as one enemy - then you can prime healing word for the tank. Alternatively, fix the targeted heals to not be targeted. Healing Word could be a burst that affects all allies, or that targeted the lowest hp ally in range. At reduced effect, in both cases I'd assume.…
  • It is pretty amazing to me that they didn't word it as: You gain a +60% bonus to heal your allies. Same effect, but quite the difference in initial perception.
  • I jumped onto foundry and tried out a level 31 wizard - most things affected ice storm, but did _not_ affect Singularity, which I'm guessing gets processed differently (not as an AoE, etc)
  • I tested this in the Foundry using a level 31 wizard, and every point added 1% to damage when I mouseover-ed spells. (ie, 1000 -> 1010, 1020, etc) The similar talent that clerics have that adds Healing to Wisdom adds directly as well, as far as I can tell. I have to imagine the talents will be redesigned at some point in…
  • The logical response to that is - so respecs should be free for the full extent of Beta. Not only does it dodge the problem with faulty documentation and effects, but it also lets characters be more agile so they can properly test the system. Good idea, clockwerkninja!
  • So, I do think the respec cost sucks. It particularly sucks given some of the obfuscated information in the system, and the difficulty in trying out powers beforehand. I actually really feel the power spec system could use some major improvements. But, at the same time, napkin math on respec says it's pretty dealable to…
  • Most chests I've seen lately have allowed multiple PCs to open, though only one at a time. So as long as you shuffle through at a decent pace it's been okay. No idea what distinguishes a one-use chest from a multi-use, though. I'd like to see them all go multi-use.
  • Neverwinter is not like 4th edition. You can't blame its failings on 4th edition, nor the other way around. Also, WotC's clearly not counting on it to be a flagship for the system since they stopped supporting the edition before this game came out. And Blizzard went to Games Workshop for the Warhammer system before making…
  • If you're trying to edition war based on how things play in Neverwinter, you really might want to stop. Cause it's a really good way to look uninformed and devalue any actual arguments about Neverwinter. Video games have different needs than tabletop. The game works like how Cryptic wanted it work, not like how WotC wanted…
  • There are recipes that need shears. For example, you can make a blue quality rare recipe that way. The worn ones work - though, sure, they're not as good as the purple ones. Honestly, the next tier up isn't that big a deal, so the worn ones work fine. You don't need to pay to use any of the crafting system. You may need to…
