  • Yeah I have to agree had I been more knowledgeable about how th Zen market works here I would not of bought a Founder pack. I understand being F2P they have to do things to make money but some things are overpriced ($20 for a companion) and some things are absurd ($6 for slightly larger bank space).
  • It's a soft launch. When they are charging for Founder packs, which had a "feature" of early access, and are not doing any wipes the game is not in beta. Please take off the fanboy blinders and understand this.
  • Basically it's overpriced to try and force those with no willpower to buy Zen, turn that Zen into AD to then finish the task early. Remember in a F2P game they're going to put things in to "encourage" you to buy Zen. This is one of them.
  • Sorry to say this is mostly Cryptic's fault. First off, stop saying this is beta. When you're charging money and not doing wipes, it's a launch. News media have a term for this: a "soft launch". Cryptic knew this game wasn't ready for launch, but they launched anyways. Secondly, everyone who has any amount of IQ knows that…
  • U.S. here also and getting terrible lag, lots of "rubberbanding" no matter what server or character I play. Occasionally I try to login on a specific character and it just gives me a message "disconnected from login server" and I'm forced to log in again.
  • If there is an award for Worst MMO Launch, I think Cryptic is in the running to win. Oh and for the fanboys that cry "this is beta", it's not. Without character wipes and with taking of our money, it's a soft launch. The beta moniker is just to let us know that it was released early.
  • Same thing here bought the Guardian pack and got the email immediately saying I've been billed the $59.99, but nothing showing up on my account page and no stuff in game. *Sigh*
  • I have a few issues with the Zen store. This is a long thread so if it was covered before I will admit I didn't read (as of this post) all 13 pages. The first thing is how ridiculously often the "very rare" lockboxes are dropping. They're purple, which is defined as Very Rare, so I would expect to maybe have 1 or 2 by now.…
  • Did you even read what I said? There aren't going to be any wipes, they are taking our money so this is a release NOT a beta. Rift had an open beta in Feb 2011, I played for 2 weeks then they wiped my characters and launched.
  • I believe that Cryptic was just a developer and wasn't actually owned by NCSoft (which is a Publisher). Remember NCSoft bought the IP for City of Heroes from Cryptic back in 2006, something they wouldn't need to do if they owned Cryptic. PWE does own Cryptic, so that means that PWE owns all Cryptic titles. As far as money…
  • Any game that is not doing character wipes & is taking your money already, is NOT a beta. It's just a "we released it earlier than we wanted to but wanted to start cashing in" release. A "real" open beta is usually just before a launch. Keyword is "just before", meaning they'd do a 2-4 weeks of open beta and then say…
  • The issue with that gameplay video is the same issue that happened with SWTOR, fans expecting something that was never there. Bioware fans were hyping SWTOR as the new game that would set a new standard for mmos, when Bioware themselves stated it would be a standard mmo just with added story. Then people got upset when it…
  • Essentially HOTN buyers would be the Lifetime Subscribers in other mmos. Guardian buyers would be the ones that bought the game and get the free month of VIP. Everyone else would be the "free players". That is if Neverwinter used the hybrid business model. As it stands now, basically Cryptic lumps you into HOTN users and…
  • It's not that we haven't played mmos much, I've been playing them since 1999 EQ1, it's the wonky queue numbers. It's going from 3900, up to 39k, down to 4900, back up to 40k, etc. You'd think something as simple as reporting the number of your queue position would be fixed well before this so-called "open beta".
  • QFT Sorry but no matter how much PR spin a company puts on it, an "open beta with no wipes" is not a beta at all but an "earlier than we were ready for launch". You would think that Cryptic would of handled launch day better considering this isn't their first mmo. Learn from past mistakes and all that.
  • I don't play SimCity but I feel for anyone that does. EA really has a h***on for DRM that is bordering on paranoia. They want to be like Steam, but keep fumbling about like drunken blind guy. I remember the WoW launch issues and Neverwinter's are rather mild by comparison. My new undead warlock sometimes took 3 mins to…
  • I would say I'm 90% PvE, 5% PvP and 5% Foundry. In some games I'll do an occasional instanced pvp battle (warfront, battleground, etc) mainly for the xp or daily rewards once or twice a day. Like a lot of people I prefer grouping and working with people rather than against them.
  • Hopefully the wiki will clarify some confusions. When I read the Drider blog, it stuck me that Crytpic got things backwords. Driders weren't the "chosen" but to quote from a D&D 3.5ed: Driders do not form societies of their own, and they are typically shunned from (if not outright hunted by) any society of which they were…
