Think you got it bad today? Think your $200 investment for a video game that you're clearly entitled to play; giving you the launch day woes? Read this thread, hopefully the contents within could help you with your withdraw symptoms, and make this day a great day!

World of Warcraft
The ever famous, was, is, and will be...
When World of Warcraft first launched, Blizzard didn't anticipate what it was going to be. Initially, stores everywhere were sold out. When first logging in, the servers had queues up to the thousands; and let there be a bug or a glitch......BAM; end of the line. Then the ever famous: Rubber Banding (which is what some of you are seeing today); players experienced this problem for weeks..... Blizzard offered comp. time for players who had these major issues.....

Time until resolved: 1 month

Glad you bought the game... but uh.... good luck getting in :D

Wii U
May the gods watch over us...
WiiU was an unreleased product! When nintendo actually boxed the units, they were missing major parts of code for the firmware. They thought they could continue to work on code after the units were in production; and simply force users to download the update when they unboxed it. And as anticipated; users were prompted with an update; however; thousands were meet with a frozen update screen (for weeks) - when turning the box off it bricked.

SimCity (5)
The already boring....
EA... oh EA. Servers were destroyed with overload; as users were unable to completely play the game (due to having to be online to play - no offline mode). It's rated as one of the worst launches in video game history. EA has directly felt the issues of this launch, and tried making amends by handing out free copies of DeadSpace 2, BF2, etc...

Let's not continue down the road of EVERY major MMO launch, having some form of issue including:
Guildwars 1 and 2, Diablo3, Age of Conan, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, Ultima Online, EQ 1 and 2, EvE Onlulz, SWTOR...........

So far, two issues have been fixed; lets have faith in the devs. as they continue to make this the best MMO Launch out there.

PWE have published enough titles to know what launch day is like. There are no valid excuses.

Want to know why Neverwinter is so laggy? Check out the "Latency" section in this thread.

I don't play SimCity but I feel for anyone that does. EA really has a h***on for DRM that is bordering on paranoia. They want to be like Steam, but keep fumbling about like drunken blind guy.

I remember the WoW launch issues and Neverwinter's are rather mild by comparison. My new undead warlock sometimes took 3 mins to loot a level 1 skeleton as the servers were crying in agony from all the people playing. Login servers were crashing to the point they disabled armor rendering at character select.

Now if only Cryptic would fix the absurd prices for Zen items....

Here's a couple more to add to the last:

Diablo 3. (BRUTAL first day, rough first 2-3 days)

Age of Conan MMO. Launch was rough, and 50% of the game was broken/inoperable/not working as intended.

Final Fantasy 14....this game failed so hard, squarenix formally appoligized for the mess they created, and are RE-RELEASING THE GAME a year or so later.

Dark age of camelot, a beloved MMO for the ages (like WoW) had a TERRIBLE launch that nearly killed the game off entirely. One of the most catastrophic launches of all time, yet managed to pull itself back up to become one of the most classic MMOs of all time (Especially for PVP combat!)

...list goes on, thats all i care to add for now :P
