Armada what's that? My fleet had a purge back in June that wiped out half the member base so that we can join the Armada. They then did another Purge in July to make some kind of adjustment for the Armada leaving us with about 69 fleet members. I left STO after that and haven't been back till now. Last email from the fleet…
Hi, Suggest going here to help you get started. http://sto.gamepedia.com/Main_Page It's what I started with to get familiar with the game. No you can put a cruiser skin on an escort. Wiki will give you an idea of the variants/skins that available for any ship. Also do a search in the forums here or on Reddit for Defiant…
Hmm, was interested in the topic and just checked on the PS4. No elite queues are offered currently for either ground or space. We had them before so not sure what happened to them.
Deleted Klingon Tac, Romulan Sci, Fed Tac. Use Fed Sci (main), TOS Tac, Fed Eng, Romulan Eng. Decided as played the game as to what worked for me. You'll have to do the same. TOS has account wide benefits so deleted my other Tac captain. No time or needed for two for me.
I play on the PS4 due to ease of use, certainly not because I can't afford a PC. Did PC for twenty years and just got tired of the constant maintenance to make a game work well or even some times work at all with each patch that came out. I use to play complex combat flight and other type of simulators. Spent many long…
There must be a way to do it as I see characters all the time at Earth Space Dock in full armor on the PS4. Does the Wiki offer any help on ground armor visuals?
To the Op, From the console side of things, [PS4 for me], pets are nothing more than a small buff to the ship. We have no commands to control them. Just launch and check your HUD ever so often to see if they are still alive. I've had a Heavy Escort Carrier since late December and I have seen them do little to help me.…
To the Op, The above says it all. While I'm a PS4 player and not PC, my engineer captain has 3 ships to fly. Pathfinder Science Ship, Andromeda Cruiser and Heavy Escort Carrier. It does fine in all of the them. What matters the most is how you set up your ship, boffs and captain skills. Stick to one energy 'weapon' type.…
For EC & Dil, focus on Admiralty. After hitting rank 10 in all 3 factions, you should have 4 epic yellow ship cards and can keep ships on assignment almost continually, if you have the time to do so. I have 4 characters and one just does Admiralty to support the other 3 and churns out new white Doffs for fleet project…
Not sure what you want exactly. You ask for a list, you got one, then you say you don't trust the list. It's a starting point. You can try a white or blue version for cheap before deciding to go for a purple one, though myself, not sure purples are worth the price. The prices I see for a purple Gravimetric Scientist don't…
Since I'm on the PS4, queues for now are done to get specific weapon or ship sets or traits. Once my TOS captain obtains rank 5 in all reps, I doubt't I will continue to play queues. I prefer battle and adventure zones, both space and ground. You don't have to wait on them and I found players in all of them.
Crafting, stories, admiralty, queues some of the time, ground missions, encounters or just working on character and ship builds trying out different setups.
Yes, they can require a lot of grinding but they are trying to show how to get the highest dps out of budget items. What you have to walk away with these builds is what mix of things drive dps and how are they setting up their ships. Between playing the game and reading their stuff, I have learned that you can do a lot…
Oh, the item set works very well together. I have the Quantum set in both my Pathfinder Science ship and my Heavy Escort Carrier. Pathfinder use the torpedo, console and beam array along with two other Polaron weapon sets that have similarsetup for set bonuses. One of the Polaron sets uses an Omni beam so it allows me to…
1) What is your long term plans for the character? Do you plan to use him / her on other type ships? If so, I'd lean toward balanced. Also looking at the stats on all 3 ship variants, there is no commander science seat so you can't run high level boff science abilities like Gravity Well 2 or 3 as they require a commander…
You need to provide more information. What type of captain do you have? What are you using for ground boffs? What gear, weapons and kits are you using? Same question for your boffs? Asking as I have a level 54 Tac Captain and no issues with ground. Using gear and weapons, blue and green between mark IX to XI. Tac, 2 Sci…
Since it comes down to how much time I can put into the game, I either store in another ship back at starbase for a different future build for that ship or I sell it. Hoarding costs money for additional storage so it has to go on one of my ships or the next event ship. If not, gone. Most purple items I am getting at end…
I have a PS4. Not sure where to look exactly as I did this ages ago but in the options, you want to make sure the option is checked to back up game progression to the network. I believe it is checked by default because I remember doing a restore from the network due to corruption for one of my games stored on the hard…
Well on the PS4, TOS toon just isn't another toon. Mine is level 24 also and is priority focus to level as the toon can provide a variety of account wide unlocks for my other toons when the temporal recruit system is added to PS4. I posted a thread asking about the benefits to creating one a week or so ago in the general…
If you're happy with your Romulan character, create a TOS Fed, Tac one preferably, to get benefits for being a Temporal Agent. I have 5 characters, 4 at rank 60. Going forward with my Temporal Agent currently rank 20, I'll mainly be playing that and my main Fed Sci character. I may delete my Fed Tac and Rom Sci rank 60…
Have to own the T6 version. Only applies to the ship you bought and earlier Tier versions of the same ship. So if you say have T5 and T3 of a T6 ship you bought, you could now apply Type 7 to them. Eg. I have T4? Voyager. I bought T6 Pathfinder. Both are the same type of Science Vessel so I can apply Type 7 to my T4…
As the OP to this thread, thanks so much to all that replied with their helpful posts, PC and console player alike. All the helpful replies gave me necessary information I needed to institute a change in approach for gaming with now 5 characters as of this morning. :) Put some excitement into some things to look forward…
Right now I run 2 Sci & 2 Eng for my main Sci captain. No Tac. Mix between blue / purple boffs. Gear from last Future Proof mission on console version. Various Mark XII Rep weapons rewarded ranking up. Make sure half weapons use expose and half use exploit. Captain carries one of each. Been picking up good gear / kits…
After reading patch notes, looks like I'll get my new character up to level 10 quickly and focus him on the weekly event rewards and have my main do the story for 400 xp to get things rolling for the event ship. Only need 15 days to complete once that is done.
Seems like it though I'm waiting to see what STO posts in their console blogs today or tomorrow. See if the Recruit event is mentioned along with rewards for it. It comes out on Valentine's Day so I'm not checking it out till Wednesday anyway so should know the status on the event by then. :)
Agreed. I see nothing referring to the Temporal Recruit System. We might not be getting those benefits so my new character may last the course of the event, then retire. Too bad as I already worked up an idea for a new character. :/
