The most important thing to get from the Temporal toon is the unlock for Mk XIII UR Rep gear. That alone makes it worth making and leveling through the reps.

That's what I was thinking. I wonder why they're not going to include it with the initial update? It seems important.
It also says that when it becomes available all the rewards will be retroactively given. So there is no need to hold back on making a character you will still get everything just not right now.

The UI isn't, but you will apparently still become a Temporal Recruit. That's the important thing, once your character gotten that Temporal Transponder, you're safe and can spend as much time as you want to complete the recruitment related tasks. (For the server wide rewards, it's still a good idea to start now, but the account unlocks will be extremely valuable in the long run.)
Before this patch note ,there was no clear explanation of whether Delta Recruitment would even happen.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.

Ok - so it's "temporarily not avaiable" and "not functioning at this time" - meaning - they work on fixing it, so just play Temporal Agent until you get the Transponder thingy and then wait until it will be fixed. Believe all us - the account rewards are really worth it.

And borgified007 - to get the Ultra-Rare Mk XIII reputation gear from Reputation projects you must first finish all Reputation to Tier V on you Temporal Agent Recruit (at the time i did it it were only 9 Reputation, no idea if you need to do the new Lukari one too), then unlock the reard on Temporal Agent Recruit (by using Transponder thingy and claiming the reawrd there), then you can unlock this on any other toon on your account by going to your Temporal Agent contact (near the promoting Admiral for Feds or somewaht close to Security Officer on Quonos First City) and unlock it from him.
If like on pc your given an extra character slot with the event, & the event is not yet active meaning I'll need to buy zen to get more character slots, then I think I'll wait. Was it a challange to get the transponder on pc within the time frame once the event started?

No. It's just the tutorial plus 6 normal missions. And the event lasted for 6 weeks on PC.
No challange at all - it can be done in one afternoon - it's only 6 missions plus some walking on Earth Spacedock.
BTW - don't dissmiss the first ship of TOS character - once dismissed it can not be buyed back - the Spacedock did not have it in shipyard - best way to deal with it after you hit level 10 is get new tier 2 ship, and put the old one in drydock - at least until you hit level 52 and Admirality system goes active.
Yeah, you need one to get the account wide rewards from the weekly events. Delete the capt when it's over if you want, I probably will. Don't know yet.
Yes good lord yes make one eveb if you dont finish the transponder quests for a year. The acctwide and even char specific benefits are too good. Free zemok and graga mal, acctwide ur mk xiii gear for life, traits, a mountain of dil.. no reason not to. Unless you hate baby kittens.. then i suppose....
After reading patch notes, looks like I'll get my new character up to level 10 quickly and focus him on the weekly event rewards and have my main do the story for 400 xp to get things rolling for the event ship. Only need 15 days to complete once that is done.
Like others said, by all means, do it! on one char.
It's a single time opportunity for this specific type of recruit!
Make it finish the tutorial (and 1st line) ASAP and play until you (are 10+ and) get the transponder DURING this event (to be safe).
The event is great for the AoY char itself and very beneficial forever for all the (non AoY chars on the same) account.
After getting the transponder, you can then rest and unlock other things at your free time, but I'd advice you to invest time and efforts into your AoY char, in fact, it may become a very formidable character while you unlocks things for your account (for non AoY chars) and for the AoY char itself for later.
A second AoY char has a diminishing return so is less recommended having, (or at least it was so on PC,) since every AoY unlocks rewards for itself (by the transponder) and there are some great account wide unlocks - some of which are made by a very tedious work - and those are valid also for the other non AoY chars on the account. (claimable by a NPC (Philip Crey?) after unlocked first by an AoY char by the transponder, though there may be a level restriction for using the NPC /claiming some rewards.) Each AoY unlocks its personal rewards only by its transponder and does not benefit from other AoY's unlocks, be it account wide or personal. The rewards the AoY char gets though are at least equal or sometimes even (significantly) better than those of the matching account unlocks, once unlocked by that specific AoY.
Note that as of now, the transponder will track your advance toward (future) unlocks for rewards which will be enabled for PS4 in the future.
As for (future) AoY (or having an AoY's) benefits, others also explained/link better than I did, but this post meant to emphasize that PS4 WILL get the transponder/device, and to urge not to miss this opportunity.
For more (accurate and detailed) info regarding PS4 and AoY's transponder's availability status, look at the patch notes (and later announcements), but I say again, do not miss the opportunity to get an AoY char during this event and make it entitled for having a device called Transponder.

I referred to an existing patch notes for console from today.
You WILL get a transponder for your AoY chars which would fulfill requirements at least (I am not sure if the requirements are the same but said just in case - fulfilling PC requirements for transponder just in case won't hurt here. The events seem similar), advancing your AoY chars take time to fully harvest the fruits of your efforts, and trust me, you will learn in time that the (personal and) account wide rewards (which are unlocked by transponder) and the advance of the character are more important than those server wide bonuses rewards now (which PC had BTW a version of, and) which are a very nice appetizers (basically AoY's chars across the server making efforts to earn levels/tiers of temporary, maybe weekly bonuses for the whole server for the next week/time, while the bonus type changes between the weeks/times, or something to that sort), and that creating an AoY char which is entitled to a transponder is a one time, important opportunity.
That transponder tracks of your advance even if transponder's rewards are not here yet. Those will come later, and probably would be hefty like the PC's eventually.
All we can give as an advice are what we learned, announcements, and cut paste from patch notes/forum posts/others' experience etc, or any interpretation, memory or processed/faint memory of such We are not computers, too. We can't see the future or what which was not announced. BTW, more on server wide rewards you could see in a new announcement. This may likely be my last replay for you, though can't promise such.

I'm a veteran of the PC version and own an XBOX One and have played the game there. Don't be ungrateful and throw away advice from PC players, specially because we probably know the game better than you and know where to find detailed patch notes for the console versions.

All rep gear to XIII ur on all your characters on that account is worth the pain - especially as (on the pc at least) It counts for new reps as well, so you'll be getting mk 13 ur gear forever
