That's pretty much THE way to do it, make sure you're offering 25 dil per zen to ensure there aren't any mishaps and you end up with the zen and yeah then quickly cancel the order and withdraw on whatever toon, there is no other way of doing it.

Well there is the Romulan Rep Gear, which I guess is the closest equivalent. Although would be nice to get a mission reward set with an Omni Plasma weapon that can be mounted alongside a crafted one (be that Imperial Navy Munitions set or something else).
