Your level 52. You haven't even hit "The Wall" yet that starts around lvl 54-55. You may think levelling is fast at this point and honestly, up until you get where you are, is does move fairly well. When you do hit The Wall, from then on, you will begin to lose your sense of progression since it will become a crawl. You…
So it was an exploit the last two years for me to play even more than necessary, grind out all those pearls, so I could get a head start on the next event? Cryptic sure seemed pleased that I and many others were padding their metrics for the last two summers with all the extea gameplay. But to them, that was yesterday, I…
"XP Bonus Weekend" *used* to be par for the course as far as normal, in-game XP goes. They've nerfed one thing after another for so long people forget/don't know that the bonus weekends were generally how the entire game was and it was really, really fun that way. Yes, some people levelled fast. What does that matter in a…
As someone who has played a KDF main since the beginning, with all its meager pickings, i can say from experience that the KDF is pretty fleshed out considering it's status in STO. The Feds are what Trek is based around so I've always understood the focus on that faction. With that said, the KDF needs most of the canon…
But everyone gets the added bonus of now having to stay logged in longer because...metrics. And I was mocked by the Cryptic Defense League and a dev for suggesting this was the point of the revamped space. Go figure.
My KDF and Federation Fleet banks have "lost" nearly all items and seem to have a faint bluish tint where items used to be. I mainly run the fleets alone but a rl friend in my fleets also remarked that fleet bank items are missing/not appearing. Most consumables seem intact but very few items or consoles are appearing. I…
I'm 43 and when I was born, not so much as Pong existed for the mass public. I think your comment that MMO launches have been like this for over 40 years is a bit misleading to say the least. I'm not sure anything even called a true MMO even existed prior to the 90's, maybe the very late 80's.
This. Many players didn't think there was any issue with the XP nerfs mistly because they had yet to hit that wall at 53-56. As more and more players get around there, they begin to notice their levelling come to a crawl. From that point on, the game gets this feel of grind when maybe what they're actually sensing is a…
Inaccurate. The queue is for the login *portal* which goes to all of the games like Neverwinter, Champions, etc. It doesn't mean anything one way or another concerning STO, just that people are trying to get into Cryptic's games. Neverwinter just had an expansion. It can just as easily be that as new players to STO.
I've played STO when content was a dry desert. We are a looooong way away from those days. People are stopping alt play just to make an attempt to gear up one character and (imo mistakenly) trying to keep up with shinies. There is an abundance of content that could keep me playing for years with alts. If I was spending…
I don't see the OP yelling doom at all, just pointing out that Delta recruitment doesn't seem to be doing what might have been the purpose which is to bring more players to the game. I'm not agreeing with the OP but simply saying he/she may have a valid observation. I'm not seeing much more activity than I have been. Maybe…
Once I found out the rewards for the tech was wai (character bound) and the dilith is bound to a specific use and the "account-wide rewards" are meh at best with the exception of maybe the BO, my DR is left right where he's going to stay, just past the tutorial and sitting on Q'onos. After 12 alts and 5 years, I began to…
There is nothing Star Trek in these designs at all. I'm all for a loose interpretation being non-canon but they've jumped the shark and made the design non-Trek completely. I'm not sure what this game is even trying to be at this point.
Don't feel bad. I tried to start up playing again and am getting consistent CTD/game client not responding errors almost every time I tried to go from ground to space or vice versa. If I start again after the CTD, whatever char I was on is in the zone I was trying to get to. So much for attempting the Delta recruit thing.
This is a comical statement, both for it's inaccuracy as well as for a lack of comprehension of the dil market. If you don't think upgrade costs were over the top before, wait until it takes 300+ dil to get 1 Zen. Try getting enough Zen for just playing the game to make any purchase in a reasonable timeframe. I'm no market…
This is such a completely flawed perception of how the dil exchange works it's hard to know how to counter your point. The "demand" for dil is created by sinks as you've said but the *supply* of said dil is determined by how many players are actually refining it, i.e. playing STO. I'm sorry to say that a lower dilex in the…
Yeah. Some people seem to be incapable of understanding supply-side economics. The best way for dilex prices to drop (meaning less Zen for cash but more Zen per refined dil) is to lower the costs of the dil sinks which Cryptic is clearly unwilling to do. The addition of dil through different means might have stemmed the…
This. For all the dil added to the game, it hasn't matched that less players are refining less dil overall so it becomes more rare and the price goes up. Econ 101. The dil sinks *are* atrocious vs. time played and the addition of dil was meant to try and mitigate players leaving. I have news for you folks...adding…
The only thing that surprises me is how they do this ^ over and over and people *still* aren't getting the purposeful nature of it. Release some awesome, OP ship or ability then nerf the TRIBBLE out of stuff so people look at the new, op shiny ship/ability to purchase. Command didnt work out so well since the ships are meh…
I'm only dropping in to make these comments: People can paint the "big picture" all they like. If STO was truly healthy and growing and making PWE a good profit, people wouldn't lose jobs. Cryptic would be hiring even more. It is astonishing to see the lengths people will go to in order to not see what so many players who…
I have decided to go out commenting on this thread. It sort of sums up everything for me. Yes, OP...it has been strange playing this weekend. I've felt something I haven't felt since the DR changes/nerfs...progression. I was going to drydock for a bit and come back but I got in some game time this weekend. My main and my…
The same could be said of many of those things. Changed, yes. Improved? Hardly. Unless monotization is the barometer, and for Cryptic that's all that seems to matter. Gameplay is an afterthought.
