Patrols. It's an issue since DR was released. At least you were more than 50 when you came to DR
Avoid ground, reward is abysmal. Stf reward is really low to.
although this 'hard levelling' is pretty easy to be honest... this is what is referred to as "hell levels" in the gaming industry (wonder is that word will be filtered) and they put them in for new stuff (although the hell levells in this game are more like cakewalks without icing in comparison to the rest of the levels which are pure cakewalks with icing) and then remove them down the road as the content gets older.
Go play Ragnarok Online or the earlier days of Lineage then come back and this "grind" will seem like a breeze...
Oh look, another "it's worse somewhere else, so it's great here".
You can always find worse. Doesn't means it's good. Also, this person think it's a stupid grind, as do I. Who are you to tell us our feelings are wrong ?

Fun police. Always here when we don't need them.
Yeah, that's kind of like one of those "back in my day we didn't have such and such... so it's unfair that you should too" arguments. If it can be made better, then we should push for it to make a better game that is more accessible to largest amount of people in order to preserve the longevity of the game we enjoy playing.

Many games take a lot of time to level up to maximum level, but at least they don't necessarily force you to repeat the same stuff over and over and over.
That's why I like games like guild wars 2, you can level the way you like, it takes time, but you can level doing quests, killing stuff, killing other players, clearing dungeons, crafting, exploring, sure, leveling up to 80 might take between a couple of weeks and a month, but at least you don't have to repeat the same stuff ad nausem to do it.
Having played Gw2 since release, I can say that is an abject lie in every way.
GW2 is easily one of THE most repetitive MMOs on the market, since there is so little content in the game that gives any sort of real reward.
It is true that GW2 gives very little stuff to do but the occasion jump puzzle and mindless bashing of the same skills over and over, but the log-in system alone gives about 15-20 levels a month in 'gain a level' tomes so leveling is so easy it is absurd.
Oh wow!!! Another little man with an inferiority complex talking big words while being anonymous behind your computer screen, big cojones my friend got to admit it....rofl.
It was just a commnent,he posted that he tought the grind was long and tedious and since this is a forum i expressed an opinion contrary to his, maybe next time you assimilate that tad of information i gave you and you relax, breathe deeply and THINK before posting something so agressive.
The Dyson Space Battle Zone is decent place to get a few XP, as well as the Kobali ground zone.
The only draw back is it can be quite laggy at times. But like others have said, certain patrol missions are the way to go. But I find it best to run a few patrols then maybe switch to a few stf's or maybe a sector red alert to break things up a little.

I've had framerate issues in those areas, but rarely lag. Maybe the OP will have better luck then some.

Repetitive? I beg to differ, you can explore, that alone can get you to level 80, you can complete quests, there are hundreds of them, you can play pvp (instanced or worldvsworld), that's never repetitive, you can level by gathering and crafting, you can level by daily rewards, you can play story mode, you can clear dungeons, you can kill world bosses, you can participate in world events, if that's repetitive then I don't know what STO is.

Patrols might not be so bad, if all the Patrol missions in all the Sectors were made available and repeatable upon hitting Level 50 or 55.
That way, when you get bored with your 27th Heirarchy trap sprung, maybe you could go face off with the Borg or the Dominion as a refreshing change of pace.
That would go a long ways towards easing the burden, and frankly it's something that should have happened long ago.

I'm thinking maybe pancakes." ~ John Casey

Well ... one reason why this is not going to happen ... some "early" Patrols are actually about Diplomacy ... you don't have to shoot 5x Waves of Enemy X etc ... so they're probably "too easy", and nobody would do DR Patrols anymore ....
Patch Notes : Resolved an Issue, where people would accidently experience Fun.
so should I park in the delta quadrent and just do doff there? Just don't want to do any of the delta story missions just yet till I'm 60
As the Delta Quadrant Missions are there to help get you from 50 to 60 is there a reason you do not want to do them until you are 60? Are you trying to save them for the Spec points?
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
- Doffing might help (there are certain Doff Missions with reasonale XP, especially if you're KDF)
- Patrol Grinding as well
but Level ~55 - ~60 is supposed to be an "epic" leveling experience & "everyone loves it" ... so enjoy
This. Many players didn't think there was any issue with the XP nerfs mistly because they had yet to hit that wall at 53-56. As more and more players get around there, they begin to notice their levelling come to a crawl. From that point on, the game gets this feel of grind when maybe what they're actually sensing is a lack of progression.
Whatever the case, I'm amazed that Cryptic doesn't see what the players experience around these levels. It can be mood altering with the gameplay and can feel like a real pain in the butt to get to 60.
It's not even how long it takes as much as it's one pace getting to 53-56, then it's like swimming in mud. A slog. Pretty doscouraging, too.

Start a new recruit or play other characters while the doff XP piles up.

Still waiting to be able to use forum titles

Anyway, I leveled all my toons from 11-60+ by doffing alone. About 1 Level per week.
If you're FED I'd say "DQ" or "Sphere"
If you're KDF - there are also a lot of "Gorn Uprisings to suppress" in Eta Eridani
