...when it clearly states later that you need a pilot hybrid seat and this will be found on new pilot ships not yet released.
For a moment there I thought that Cryptic had finally listened to the hordes of players who have provided feedback that they want to upgrade their existing ships and would pay for the priviledge to unlock hybrid seating on T5/T5U etc.
But alas no.
For the record I still think they would sell more if they introduced seat upgrade tokens.
There would be a set of tokens for each spec (Intel, Command, Pilot).
Each token would change one seat on one ship (of the relevant rank) into a hybrid seat that accepts skills from that specialisation. You can use more than one token on a ship, and you could even use more than one token on a single seat as long as its from a different spec (e.g. to get an Intel/Command seats like the JHSS has)
100 zen for Ensign seat
200 zen for Lt seat
300 zen for LtC seat
400 zen for Cmdr seat

Probably because they don't have ANY pilot ships yet and don't want to show any pilot ships yet.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Maybe, just maybe, they did that temporary on their own servers to test out the powers while the ships receiving them were still in the works? Nah, that seems to obvious. Its probably that all existing ships will be 100% pilot accesible.
Ya know, ever time someone posts a thread of "please allow me to pay more money for more power creep," someone at PWE celebrates by strangling a puppy. You don't hate puppies do you?

can't stand the things.
besides this isn't 'i will pay money for power creep'
this is 'your current strategy for deployment of new systems (i.e. restricting such systems to a handful of new ships) is not currently wanted/desired/liked by a large proportion of your playerbase. please offer a monetised alternative'

Is this meant to advertise doing those threads?
I saw the reason for intel and command but hardly see any for pilot, weapons or kitchen ships.
I suppose it would work on fighter or shuttlecrafts though.

Money is the reason. RP-Things are not considered, except they bring money.

But it will certainly be disappointing for players that want a Sovereign with Pilot skills.
Unless it's a hint that more is in the works? Maybe a Tier 6 upgrade for Tier 5 Upgrades that turns a Ensign BO slot into a Lt. BO/Hybrid slot?
But I doubt that. No need to get anyone's hopes up, especially since it would seem to defeat the business purposes of a new ship tier.
