Nothing wrong with being heavily armed. Carrying a lot of guns on your ship doesn't mean you can't come in peace anymore... it just means that you're prepared in case the other party isn't interested in a friendly meeting or First Contact.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

If it were me personally I'd rather go for a well armed/armoured military ship, yet with a specialized science/sensor suite. A bit like a cross between a heavy escort and a sci ship.

Sensor Analysis (more exploration!)
+10 Aux, +10 Weapon power (compromise!)
5 Fore weapons, 2 aft (Even more compromise, the people that want 5 weapons get the front part, and the ones that want 2 get the rear part. Perfect!)
Console layout:
5 Science (You gotta have lots of those for 'exploration'!)
4 Tactical (It's dangerous out there!)
2 Engineering (Left overs.) What? I didn't say anything about suggesting this be the Winter Event ship or other giveaway...
Bridge Officers:
Commander Science (Exploration!), Lt. Comm Universal/Temporal (don't know what you're getting into, it might even be time travel!), Lt. Comm Tac (Go boldly, and carry a big stick!) , Lt. Comm Eng (need to keep the ship together and/or enhancing your weapon power)
Shields: thick
Hull: decent
Turnrate: at least 8 (these three will be needed to be balanced somewhat, I don't feel like back-figuring from current T6s)

Depends on the perspective of who you're meeting. Remember when the Xindi were surprised by the high resolution of Enterprise's sensor scans. Archer had to explain that despite the armament she was an exploration vessel.
I'm also fond of the Starfleet proverb on classifying Orion ships. "If you're unarmed it's a pirate ship, if you're armed it's a merchant ship."

Want to give them battle cloaking and cannon options while you're at it? Maybe a rewind mastery trait, that refreshes your cooldowns, gives you a hull and shield heal, and has a jump built in? Let's just mash too much good stuff into a ship for a race that's only just barely peeking out its own atmosphere. First step to Mary Sue status there....

i'm curious to see what will be made without the restrictions past 'new' ships had in terms of design theme.
And since everyone seems to be chiming in with Lukari ship thoughts, I bet they may wind up building something that equates to our Exploration Cruisers or Star Cruisers. Something durable, decently armed, but ultimately, dedicated to peaceful research and discovery.
It'd be neat if we could maybe get a Lukari BOff of some sort. Maybe as part of a Cultural Exchange? Heh.

On the Xbox/PS4 side, endless special event grinds one after another coming so fast it's crazy.
Then again, maybe the winter ship will be Breen science. A Breen secondary deflector could be quite interesting.

As for what ship they should build, they can have their cake and eat it too. All they need to do is make a regular sci ship with a secondary deflector. That can cause more than enough death and destruction to satisfy the war minded Lukari while supplying the best in exploration technology. Who needs warships when you have a good science ship.

Somehow Tom Paris didnt mention any early days of human explorers like Colombus and theirs great deeds of torture and TRIBBLE of indigenes ... yeh must add more cannons to defend all those "peacefull" explorations against stone age salvages
