Mine also crashes at the black Cryptic screen. I have tried at least once a day since Season 8 patched and it has crashed every time. The most frustrating part is I have submitted by crash reports and not a peep from anyone at the help desk. I paid for this game, at least have the curteousy to let me know you are working the issue!
Consider that your report is among probably thousands, and at this point any reply would be, "We are aware of the issue and are working to implement a fix. Please refer to (twitter/forum/Aunt Martha) for the latest updates on this situation."
During the10/3 issue, it got fixed on 10/10, and I think I finally got an email around the 13th.

i can log in but as soon as i load a particular toon the game crashes my other toons are perfectly fine it's just this one toon
Have you filed a support ticket? You're the first I've heard with a specific toon crashing it, so either you have an unrelated issue, or your case might be useful for tracking down the problem. Go to the main website and file a support ticket.

Well if it doesn't get fixed in an alotted amount of time I would think they'd have to consider rollback as an option. You can only dump so many players then its not worth keepin the doors open..
Won't happen. THey'd hate to lose those of us who have this problem, but I think we are only about 3 to 5 percent of the playerbase. Most players have no idea there is a problem.

There's absolutely nothing you can do to get back into the game, but wait.
It's a problem on Cryptic's end of things not on your system; trying to tweak things or reinstall is just an exercise in frustration... many have tried and many have failed.
It's the latest Academy test: The No-Play Scenario... no amount of original thinking is going to get you out of it!
Just as it did for many of us on Tribble, Holodeck is crashing upon load up. Let's start at the beginning.
I loaded up the Season 8 patch and started it up. Since the server wasn't up I expected that it would close the shard and send me back to the log-in prompt. It launched, the music started and *crash* back to the desktop and the cryptic error report prompt.

This is really getting old everytime you have a major update it seems some of us can't sign into the game because cryptic keeps crashing why is this . And I suppose that if you can't fix this problem in time those of us that can't sign in will miss out on the tribble you are offering . I for one am sure glad I didn't buy lifetime subscription to the game because i'd really be upset . But thanks for letting me vent yours truly disstatisfied game customer . Hmmmm well they known about this for a bit over a month now but yes, I loaded Holodeck and crashed ;(
My problem is a bit different than yours tho, I make it to the Black Cryptic loading screen and crash never make it to the second loading screen.

My problem is very similar, the 1 loading screen loads a s normal but the 2nd one shows for around 20 - 30 seconds and goes to a black screen with the usual music. If I hit enter and wait like 30 seconds I can hear I'm on ESB but no video. I enter some known commands and I hear the usual dings and peeps. SO I'm on the game just no video. :eek:

Unbelievable. I've been half watching this thread since it's inception as I'm one of the afflicted, and in 750+ posts I don't recall seeing an actual dev respond even once. Seeing as I can't get into the game, I've been reading the forum and watching dev's respond in other threads about other issues. Why is this one seemingly being ignored?
And before anyone goes into the have patience, they're working on it, it's a priority. Yeah I've heard all that. And to you I say, this has been a known issue since S8 went live on Tribble. I personally don't think it was taken seriously until it hit holodeck. Why? Because within 12 hours of it being on holodeck the devs said it's on their end, we can do nothing to fix it ourselves.
In the month or so it was on tribble it was ignored because it didn't seem to affect that many players. Hmm, so the devs make the decision to not allow the majority of the player base to test on tribble (I'm talking about silver members), which if they had they would have seen a much larger group of people experiencing the crash. (I hope this is remembered in the future). And those silvers were barred from tribble because they 'might' have spent money on holodeck if they weren't playing on tribble. I'd bet more money is being lost now from the people who are crashing than would have been lost if tribble had been open to all from the start. This issue would have been resolved long before it was released on holodeck if that were the case.
So what happens if this crash goes on for 30+ days? I'm sure there's more than 1 fleet leader affected by this. They finally get back in-game only to find the fleet they worked hard to build, maintain and lead handed over to someone else. Yeah, I can feel the love from that now.
I would like to get back in game, mainly to get the tribble. Why is it being limited to the 21st anyway? What knuckle dragging mouth breather made that decision? Meh, I digress.
Don't get me wrong, the Lobi, FE Rewards and lost dil would be nice too. I just don't think there's any chance of that.
Ya know, if I were a betting man, this would be where I put my money. This crash bug is either caused by a conflict with the new code for the Mac client, the changed Shader code, or the changed DirectX code. And now that it's in place they can't figure out how to fix the crash without changing the code back to what it was before. At least not without wiping out the newer code and starting over. And I could be totally off base as I've not seen a debug log and have no access to the code to see for myself.
So how about it dev team? Can you spare an actual dev 5 minutes of time to come to this thread and give us some idea of what's going on? A ballpark estimate of how much longer it will be before we can play? I (and I'm sure many others) would really like to have 'some' idea of what's going on behind the scenes.
PweBranflake has been giving a response at least once a day but sense I dont think he has anything to do with the patch its self (hes a middle man) info seems a little limited, I don't blame Flaky Bran he is doing his part. But yes a time frame for a repair would be nice.
Aye, I know Bran has been giving updates, and I'm grateful for what he's done. But he's not a dev, so not actually in the know to explain anything.

I can now log into the game but my main is stuck in ESD limbo...i cant log into that character or boom game crashes
SO.. i can play my 10 other 50s and do tutorial and play with my commanders lt commanders and lts and caps and rear admirals
but i cant play with the one VA i really wanted to play with
what should i do? how can i resolve this

LOL, nah, he does a good job calming the masses and getting information out. It's whoever decided to 1) lock the majority out of beta testing, and 2) limit the seasonal tribble to the 21st that I'd like to publicly tar and feather.

Also, this is a minor setback. Were you here for S7? Or LoR? Or, of all things, the 3rd Anniversary? No-one could play during those releases.
