Especially against them epte spheres that seem to own everyone when they don't use this console -rolls eyes-
Regardless of this console, I don't understand how people are honestly complaining about EPtE of all things.
Oh no! You actually have to... move! You can't just sit there and spam spacebar! THE HORROR.
Even still, though... this console ended up getting a buff in PvE. More damage and a Weapons disable. Now the Gate can be shutdown allowing people to get in close for Cannon assaults, or to lay down EWP onto the dreaded running Spheres. Or stop the ships that slip through and assault the Kang. Or neuter the Cube so you can take out the Nanite Transformers. Or eat the Assimilated Carrier's pets. Or lulzify a Tac Cube.
But no, it's worthless because it doesn't do everything and cause the NPCs to self destruct.
It would also seem that the biggest offenders for use of this console are premade fleet teams as well. Just adds a whole new dimension to what they bring to the queues.
"Oh look, we only have 2 copies of TIF, 3 sci ships, 2 of of which are carriers. We can't possibly have enough cheese to throw at a pug team, so lets have 3 ships with this stupid console. That way we can be sure to drive pugs from the queues!"
Pathetic really, typical high end PvP fleet mentality using broken and OP stuff, the very same stuff that's not allowed in private and league matches, perfectly acceptable in a public queue though.
I gave up last night after 10 matches, only got 2 decent battles, the rest were spam filled premades using this console in multiples , amongst other OP stuff.
Keep on going fleet teams, you might find you won't have an opposition soon and the queues won't pop.
I know of 2 fleets that were big in PvP have quit PvP because of this behaviour from others.

The real shocker I get is that people don't seem to remember that spheres ALWAYS had EPTE. Like, way before LoR hit.
Thing is, it was never worthwhile enough to notice. It's why the spheres seemed to 'zip up quick' to the transformer, yet the Nanite spheres seemed to lag behind.
Now with the EPTE change, (and something I called back then), spheres are just running all over creation.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
I think the pattern suggests the problem is one of process, and that responsibility falls squarely on D Stahl.
The pattern suggests QA testing comes after PROD release. I can't be critical of the guy who does his job under the process he is required to follow. I do think that D Stahl deserves all criticism he gets for managing a software outfit under a blatantly flawed process, but alas no one calls him out in a serious way in a serious medium.
It's the nature of the gaming business though. Big gaming media has to play ball to get the exclusive interviews, and those sites thrive under the fan site model. Journalism... not so much.
true eds, and Dstahl mentioned changes to the QnA procedure about shortly after F2P as a priority goal for cryptic. My point...whatever it is they did...it didn't work.
Just to be clear, i have no grudges against fark, or anybody trying to do their job as best they can. Sometimes trying isn't enough though, and QnA still remains a farce.
Also *yay nerf* maybe some testing on tribble could with QnA or with Systems design implementation.
Im glad to see the console getting a fix. Yesterday some fleetmates and I queued up a few times, and every fight was decided by the guy spamming the console. There was one capture and hold match where 8 of my 11 deaths were attributable to the console. It is literally an I-win crutch to a DPS player. Push button, free kill. (I know now because I have one too, the damn thing is like a science debuffer captain in your pocket)
In any case, fight fire with fire and use them against those that do til the patch goes through. Hopefully PvP can get back to the usual bugships and subnukes.

actually the complaint about epte on spheres is more how the spheres then fly, in giant, random loops, in all sort of directions, many times away from the target they have agro on. unlike the asimileted raptors that use it which at least continue to go after their targets.

Listen, I get it.
I've run over 5,000 STFs at this point (probably closer to 8k), I really do get it.
However ISE even in it's current state can still be completed in under four minutes by the fastest teams (PUGmades, basically). It's still a total cakewalk.
Get some control powers, you can even stuff them into all of your console slots and don't even need BOFF powers.
Try the new subspace integrated console, Theta, Graviton Pulse (see my sig), Romulan Singularity, etc.
It's a team effort, and shouldn't be made into a complete joke by 1 guy with GW 1 in the first place.
If people even tried, in a tiny fashion, to slightly modify their set ups for a touch of control this problem would basically resolve itself.
Yes, it's boo-hoo because you have to drop from 20% chance to crit to 19.3% chance to crit to slot some particular control console, get over it already.

Acctully I personally fly a carrier, I can sit still and let them go in crazy loops all the same, since my mesh weavers are most of my dps.
And honest the behavior is more to do with how the AI flys then epte in the end, I'm just clarifying that its typically why you hear it complained about. drunk borg spheres are drunk, and fly like it when this is up
so is it true that they are going to nerf this console down to just it shutting off weapons? if so what use will it be with everyone running epte you will fly out of the cloud in a second and weapons will be back online, it would be a lot more use for it to shut down engines only as it will help slow down all the runners that are now in pvp that seem to be able to fly around at warp 10 none stop, shutting off just weapons is a joke and not worth the steam off my you know what
Actually they are changing the complete disable to a weapons system disable. This actually buffs the console in PvE since perception doesn't matter to NPCs. The slow effect is still in place but has been fixed to WIA instead of apparently giving 15% more slow than it was supposed to, and the kinetic damage has been significantly buffed. End result is it will be more effective in PvE and properly effective in PvP.

I appreciate that, but really it's just complaining from some players that could deal with the situation with a few minor adjustments.
It's still under a 4 minute run from start to finish for the fastest teams, and probably adds about 1 minute of extra time to an ISE in the average cases.
the weapons shut down only works within the cloud and with most players now running epte x 2 the weapons shut down effect will be near as dam it usless, at least if it shuts down engines it will be of some use, forget about pve players you can kill most npc with mk x equipment so why would they ever need any of these so called cheese consoles anyway
the slow helps keep everything inside of a gravwell, which means the well does more damage since things end up more at its center. the weapon shut down makes the tholian web console more viable too, since it wont get shredded before it can collapse, not to mention its a extra like 9k damage at 130 aux when it collapses, so a good torp crit, which can finish off targets that survive the rest of what your doing.
essentially its still good in conjunction with other sci powers, and consoles.
to make them keep mouth shut for nerfzz..
mouth only allowed to be opend for: food, drinks, asking if you may leave youre seat to make a toilet stop, and to praise scimitars and there mighty captains!

That is my only beef with the whole shebang.

The funny part is that EPTE spheres is a benefit to BFAW cruisers since their arc isn't as critical for AoE as an escort's is.
You'd think the forums in general would prefer that, all things considered.
