How in the hell do they manage to bring the game to an sort of stable point this last week and then utterly destroy it? I heard that many of the new work done for STO is sent out to Freelance teams/people if that is true .... What happened to the Cryptic Studios Team? Did they finally succumb to the painful death of incompitencialidis? I stand by my decisions. If I can't get the game working today that will be that I'm afraid. EvE does not have the same charm as STO but there I pay monthly and HAVE ACCESS TO EVERYTHING without having to pay more money and the game FRAKING works!

It looks a lot like Cogentco has to answer some questions, most of the people that bothered to post a traceroute in the last few pages have gone across the Cogentco network.

For those that have not posted a traceroute, go get WFTrace and in the command line put patchserver.crypticstudios.com, then click the 'copy as text' button and post results here. Once you're done you can do the same thing to us1.proxy.crypticstudios.com.

My gut tells me that there is some kind of issue with a bad node with Cogentco that is affecting many customers passing over their network.

If everyone posts a WFTrace and it makes it clear that the Cogentco network is at fault, we might be able to aggregate the trace results and lodge an issue.

You know... I got to the point where I subbed myself 2 weeks ago and then this bloody mess happens and it keeps happening and I've gotten to the point where my patience is growing thin. Cryptic never had these problems when Atari owned the game even on my wireless connection I was able to stay on constantly, I come back after a year and a half to this cluster f&*#. I am disappointed by the constant server issues and the unreliability of the games server staff... they SUCK ROYALLY!

I've since canceled my sub seeing how it isn't worth two cents of my money, you heard I was subbed for 2 weeks and I dropped it because of this BS.

I just ran a tracrt and it has cogentco all over it, but it goes past it and on the last hop which is the STO servers, it fails. I notice that the server status on the launcher is red. I assume that red means it is up? I just can not log in. everything else works. I even got the patch just fine.

Time to clean houose and fire some people. Usually makes the rest get busy and do thier jobs rightish.

Doesn't loook like they will have this running anytime soon. Guess I will go watch some internet TRIBBLE, at least that is always working reliably, maybe they should hire some of those guys. We would have reliable service at least.

    Hey Everyone,

We have investigated this issue and it appears that some players are encountering an issue with a routing provider (Savvis) that exists between their ISP and our servers. We recommend waiting some time to see if the issue is resolved on their end, or alternatively, contacting your ISP to report the issue.

We will continue to monitor for additional issues and will investigate accordingly if new information is discovered. Thank you for letting us know about this!

    Umm, hi forum dude ..

After doing a few traceroutes, I'm not going through Savis .. I guess the majority of major ISP's must be having problems tonight .. Odd that it would all happen at once .. I'm curious as to why only your game is affected .. Maybe you should stop uploading patches, they tend to crash ISP's .. When your hot, your hot .. Never mind, I'm just being paranoid ..

Didn't they upgrade their servers a while back to prevent this kinda thing from happening?

No updates from their Facebook account, anything elsewhere?

    Anyone else having issues today?

    Been disconnected 3 times today.

I attempt to warp to a planet, I fly right past it.

I attempt to drop out of warp, but I keep going at maximum warp.

    Doors won't open for me.

I go to full impulse, and fly right into a planet.

Please tell me I'm not the only one getting this today!

I always have this problem even after their server stability fix or whatever you want to call it. They honestly need to rethink what they do with this game....its just getting worse. They "fix" one thing then 2 things TRIBBLE up etc.

I've had this going on for a week now. no response from their support. Is it still called support when none is given, lets call it the 'tell us whats wrong so we can ignore you' ticketing system.

Been playing for years, no issues. now 'Disconnected for unknown reason'. I get to select my character and click play but then Disconnected. Getting to player screen takes a good minute or so though. again, never used to. Would like to get an acknowledgement that this is a known issue that they are trying to resolve or do I abandon my LTS and find a new game?

Well, up to a week and a half now of the mysterious disconnects. I am still getting the Server Not Responding that lasts for 18-20 seconds, then Disconnects. I do not have lag, I just have sudden SNR, then DC with no warning. I have contacted my ISP (CenturyLink) and has told that the disconnection problem is on Cryptic's end, yet post #170 here says that the problem is Savvis (CenturyLink owned). I am bein given the runaround and am becoming somewhat frustrated.

I'd like any advice on further troubleshooting this if anyone can give if. Otherwise, how can I manage how my computer connects to Cryptic to avoid Savvis servers?

I don't get disconnected often as some, although it happens; three, four times a week. But I do get server not responding quite often during my 2hrs play time, usually at night, and my lag is so bad that it got to the point where I can't play any PVE map, because I am useless.
My FPS drop as little as 3/s and it continues for several second, in which I am already destroyed. And those FPS doesn't have to do anything with my hardware, I tried lowering video setting to the lowest possible, with half resolution, just to be sure. ( I don't have graphical problems, but the lag became so unbearable I thought that maybe something is wrong my my hardware- it's not).

So now I can only play, at some degree, PVE content aside from PVE queues. Even travel through sector space is lagging, which has never happened before.
And one more thing, maybe it's relevant; my sound flickers when those lags happen. Not all the time, but just the same, too often do I hear crackling sound, like the sound that I hear is not constant but rather its lagging, if that's the right term. And, in PVE queue maps, my sound is messed up; I don't hear me firing, then I hear some random explosions and beam weapon fire, than just a little bit of my cannons firing.. Its wrong.

    Hope this helps.

I got no time yesterday as I couldn't log in. Today I got maybe 50 minutes by jiggling the proxy settings around till it died again just now. No matter what launcher settings, login server is dead from here.

The longer this goes on, the less I bother trying to get back in. I'm certainly not going near NWO when their infrastructure is so poor. Maybe they decided it's just cheaper to let the people who can't stay connected wander off than to fix the capacity problems.

they will never fix the problem now. it is all about money to them so I play free, I am getting a new internet band on thursday. so nothing will change with the game. they should take the game offline for a week, so they can get better severs that's the only way this can be fixed:mad:

It's hideous today. Had to log in 3 times just to get in. Once in, kept getting Server not responding in the midst of an Azure Nebula Rescue (fortunately, I didn't die till it was almost over, but I came close a couple of times before that). Then I got DCed and had to log in at least 5 times before I managed to get back in.
