March beneath the raptors wings is the same title as a Pocket books novel about Capt Archer and the start of the Human Romulan war. I think it will be a Story line where at the end there will be a playable Romulan Capt for Fed & KDF with Romulan Ships. We already have all their gear and Doffs and Boffs and Weps. I doubt it will be an entire Romulan Faction. KDF will be Tal Sher and Fed Romulans under D'tan

Yeah, you are talking about this. As you can see, it is Beneath the Raptor's Wing. There is no March.

That phrase was originally from the 7th episode of Enterprise's 4th Season, titled "The Forge." (It was part of the 3-episode Vulcan story-arc from that season) Good episode!

The book's title was also inspired by that same episode.

The full quote from the episode is:

Syrran: "Infinite diversity in infinite combination. Words that are a mere shadow of its true meaning.
Surak tells us that the story of the IDIC has no end but it begins here, at Mount Seleya."

T'pol: "Surak died on Mount Selaya."

Syrran: "His body, yes. But his Katra was spirited away - before the last battle against those… who march beneath the Raptor’s wings. Those who wanted to return to the savage ways."

The quote refers to "The Time of Awakening," when the Vulcan and Romulan races diverged in a great war.

I really hope this is a third faction. Though if it is more information before May would be good seems to have been kept too under wraps for something so big.

Equally though if it isn't a new faction it will only lead to disappointment unless someone comes out and says sorry no faction but some new missions. The way its been put though really makes it seem like a new faction.

I'd be interested in what this means for the game, will we see Cardassian or Dominion factions now one day. And how does this work with the Klingon faction who start at such an accelerated level.

I don't think you should get your hopes up. Dstahl mentioned season 8 will be BIG and then came up with "March beneath the raptor's wing" teasers.

Knowing Cryptic, I think it will just be a huge raptor wing statue erected somewhere ("Big") and then there'll be a mission to "March" beneath the statue to earn 10 romulan marks.

It will just be an easy and fast way to earn Rommy marks the players are clamoring.

Hehehe, that did make my laugh actually. I think that'd be a pretty hilarious joke if they put that in somewhere just for the 'lols', like on April Fools.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

It's so weird having the New Romulan symbol "bird" only holding one planet now instead of the two back in the old days... BTW what planet is it is it Raptor or New Romulus?

Everyone is getting excited about the possibility of a Romulan faction, but please keep all expectation in check.

If this is a new faction and we dont know for sure, its not going to suddenly have levels 1-50 of content by magic. its impossible unless they have been secretly building for ages which seems unlikely.

This will most likely be a bare bones faction which just gets them on the table, much like the klingons were at launch. a start zone, some ships, a few wrapper missions etc, or they will be some kind of level 50 unlock where you start at level 50, and just get a choice of which ship to fly around in and access to the current and future end game content.

so just any excitement under control or it will just lead to disappointment.

depends who it belongs to. if its the separatists then its new romulus and if its the 'baddies' under sela and the tal shiar then its rator.

what's quite interesting is that there are now 2 planets so maybe there will be a short of reunification storyline down the line.

Considering the Klingon's still feel somewhat lacking, I have a hard time believing they'd jump in and make a third faction so soon.. But man, if I'm not excited at the possibility. It'd definitely bring me right back into the game.

    Here's my best guess:

A new FE series featuring Romulans (Sela/Iconians vs. Tal Shiar vs. New Romulus) for high level FED and KDF players.

Completion of the FE allows lvl 50 players to start a new Romulan Faction alt at level 40+(with more missions to come "Soon").

Plenty of Romulan ships purchasable on C-Store/Lobi once your Romulan alt hits 50.

New Reputation categories, fleets, and lockboxes for end-game Roms.

New Klingon missions, enough to flesh out levels 1-20 (with a tutorial). With the new FE we KNOW is coming, it won't take that many new low-level KDF missions to finally finish the faction.

One new character slot for all players (mandatory for a Romulan alt for f2p players).

The Federation doesn't have enough content. Why should the other factions? ;)

Oh yes, it sounds like something bigger then previous seasons alright. maybe Romulans and a bunch of other schwag.

I know what it also sounds like: $40-$60

I love how you people just assume that it's free and that somehow they are not going to get you to pay through the nose for it, because Cryptic doesn't do that kind of stuff.....right?

If The Updated Formerly Known as Season 8 was a lockbox or a starship, your poorly thought out snark might have a point.

But in seven seasons they've never released a major update that required payment (or direct payment, anyway - dilithium is weird that way).

We have no reason to believe they'll change that now. No precedent for payed major content releases exists for STO.

You do know that the last I checked, the official policy for STO was no mission or story content to be locked behind paygates, expansions or any form of concealment behind real money purchasing right?

Not gonna read the whole thread, so sorry if it's been mentioned but in the OP's link it now has a count down ending on March 21st at 2pm gmt. I suppose that's when they'll confirm the Romulan faction or admit to having trolled the fanbase. Either that or they're just really excited for the official start of spring.

Just a teaser for Season 8 and/or the next FE series. Don't get your hopes up for a new faction. :P

I give my hopes up for no new faction, not another Season for Romulans (I am sick of Romulans now stealing 2 seasons) And now I think the Empire will be slit at the brain again for thinking of change. (Read the History at my Link Below) This is getting tires for everyone. Just fix the Empire already!

There are defnetly some new ships there
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

My guess is some kind of invasion event where the Tal' shiar return backed by iconians. Champions has already tried a few invasion events (the current one not doing so well), so it does seem more likely than a playable romulan faction, especially with the horrible state the KDF is in. More than likely they're going to be joined by either a romulan or tal shiar lock box.

Sadly the only ship i would want from the Romulan side is the Scimitar, but that's just m preference, any Bird of prey i would want my fed to have would be the higher level klingon versions which we all know would never happen. I haven't seen or heard anything about this being an actual faction from the dev side, so i'm pretty sure it's just fan speculation though. Going by how Cryptic usually does things if it had been a third faction they'd be hyping the fudge out of it only to have it end up being just like the klingon side.

Either way we have a count down until then, so shields up and power the weapons.

I was surprised there was even a second faction to begin with, given that the entirety of the main Star Trek franchise has always been about the Federation.

Maybe you will be a KDF lover once they say "You Must Have a Level 50 Klingon In Order To Play the Romulan Faction" :D  :P
