Can't wait till a Romulan faction but I hope it's got playable Romulans, Remans (one of my favourite species) and Hirogen and of course the 'alien'. But I've been waiting for a Warbird for AGES so it better be a rom faction:D

Maybe you will be a KDF lover once they say "You Must Have a Level 50 Klingon In Order To Play the Romulan Faction"

I have 4 VAs and 3 LGs...I'm more than ready for 3 comparably ranked Romulan characters. :D

With "Our shadow will dim the stars" it should be pretty obvious by now it's not gonna be a Romulan Faction, but something heavily focussing on Iconians instead .... which was kind of confirmed over the last 6 months ... but this will probably be just completely ignored to "save the dream" ... again ...

Wise move to get rid of "March Beneath the Raptors Wings" to replace it with "Our shadow will dim the stars", hopefully it will calm down the hype ...

    WHERE'S YOUR HONOR??

Tell that to the Gorn who have to be suppresed by them and litteraily are a so called "Third Wheel" to the point if a "haired" one dies they send fleets from Qo'nos as if a "hairless" one dies they leave the body to rot! Same with Letheans (which helped Gorn) and Nausiccians (Helped Gorn)

In all honesty, (although 99.98% of not happening) I wish for a Gorn Faction to take the Naussicans and Letheans with them and the KDF only having Klingons, Orions, Ferseans (which by the way took 2.5 years since annoucement to be launched) and some other aliens they are alli8ed with (possibly Romulans or somrething dumb like that)

Or a Gorn Rebellion will be nice... (also dumb cause like faction... as in you get to chose thier side or not FEd and KDF though REP and et cetralike in S7 for Romulans)

But most of all I just loathe the fact there being "possibly" 2 Romulan seasons.. in my mind that is.. B.O.R.I.N.G. or Bodly Ommiting Romulans Interesting Nerves (People's Mind) (a)gain.

I'm sure you all can figure out what this means. ;)

Hmm... well the UFP logo still displays incorrectly on the models, so that's not fixed yet. I still have Boffs that either fall halfway into the geometry on my bridges or levitate 6-12 inches above their seats, so it doesn't mean that's fixed yet, either. But they added one of those countdown timers, so they were probably burning the midnight oil doing that since the company wide "Red alert, all hands on deck!" to fix the Boff slotting issue that their last update porked. It doesn't seem like anything is happening on the Foundry/Ship interiors issue in the foreseeable future. Err... I give up, enlighten me! What does it mean?

I'm not sure how "[the Raptor's wings] will dim the stars," combined with a picture of decloaking Romulan warbirds flying through space qualifies as "pretty obvious it's not [about] Romulans."

    Nope, no Romulans here...

Well the [about] might be the key here ... i just don't see how a new faction (which should have the same powers of the 2 existing ones) could "dim the stars" ... that might only be possible with Iconian Help which again would be no surprising ... because some Sela/Romulan/Iconian Conclusion was confirmed over the last 6 months ...

    PS :

If you take a close look at that screenshot, you can see a sort of green temporal rift. At the end of the Romulan episodes, the last thing we saw was a Warbird being dragged into a time portal.

I'm not sure the two are mutually exclusive. In fact, I think it's almost a given that any Romulan faction would be intimately tied in with the Iconian storyline.

We'll see though. A Romulan faction would be interesting, but I won't cry myself to sleep if it doesn't happen.

Well I'm pretty sure if there is gonna be a Romulan Faction it will have nothing to do with Iconians at all (which leaves the Mol'Rihan Romulans) .... why ?? ... well because :

Faction 1 : Humans capable of Space Travel for 200 years
Faction 2 : Kligons capable of Space Travel for 300 years
Faction 3 : Romulans supported by the mightiest species in existence capable of Space Travel for 300,000 years

=> boy PVP balance is gonna be messed up :P

not to mention ... how to implement Iconian - Romulans in STFs, Featured Episode Series 3 etc etc etc

Not gonna read the whole thread, so sorry if it's been mentioned but in the OP's link it now has a count down ending on March 21st at 2pm gmt. I suppose that's when they'll confirm the Romulan faction or admit to having trolled the fanbase. Either that or they're just really excited for the official start of spring.

It's interesting the Date being March 21. On or about the Spring Equinox. And it being a Thursday which is the usual patch day....

Well it could be like this.

After spiriting her away the iconians sent her to another dimension.
(Tom Paris was not kidding about their trans dimensional technology.)

In this dimension the romulans who marched beneath the raptors wings had conquered all before them and ruled with guile and force.

Supported by the power of her Iconians allies/masters she became empress of that Romulan empire.

Once apprised of the situation in the prime/alternate/other dimension.
( To be honest I have lost which we play in)

The senate and imperial fleet support the empress in her plan to take control of our dimension little knowing it is all a devious Iconian plan to weaken their enemies.

Soon the vast Romulan armada will blot out the stars as they invade our space.

For us we must decide to play our existing captains or roll up a new Romulus character to fight against this invasion.

    In various.

    1) Fleet actions where Romulan battle groups attack our fleet star bases and other prime targets.

    2) Take part in desperate STF's to disrupt their war efforts.

    3) Complete impressive Featured episodes to carry the story along where success can alter the course of the invasion.

    Or we can.

Decide to march beneath the raptors wings and start a new Romulan character from this alternate dimension and in our oh so cool Romulan vessels.

Or ally with this almost overwhelming force to make sure we are on the winning side in.

    1) Attacking fleet bases and other prime targets.

    2) Take part in desperate STF's against our enemies.

    3) Complete impressive featured episodes to carry the story along where success can help win the war.

    along with.

Special events such as the siege of New Romulus/ The assault on Vulcan/ with space and ground invasions.

Players actual participation and preferred faction adds or subtracts to the over all war effort.
( ie territory control of a sector or sectors)

Skirmishes start up across the sectors as captains from all sides face off in PVP matches in new and interesting systems their performance is added to their preferred factions war effort.

Each side will be given new reputation systems to gear up their vessels and new technology for their existing ones.

Which ever the way the war goes it will be decided by the player participation over the coming months.

The invaders may be driven back into their own dimension.

Or a new more powerful Romulan empire will control a sector and a also strong beachhead for their even more powerful backers once they show themselves.

    OR.

    None of the above. :-)

Yup. And then when it finally drops, the playerbase screws itself into the ceiling over the bug count, because it was only tested for a couple of days, if at all. Careful what you wish for, sometimes wishes come true.

What I think it means is that is the date they are going to begin official promotion of the May content.

I can't wait for all the Rage and Tears of the Romulan wannabes.

You know I'd trade season 8 and 9 and 10 for them fixing the blockage of the ground sets. so I can "save 60% time".
Coming up on 3 months now...

I played season 7 for the ground sets and the flamethrower both of which are currently not even in the game.

At this point I just can't mount any kind of enthusiasm when the core of season 7 remains non-working. All I am able to reflect on is what are they going to break next time.

No point of listing cool new items when they don't work anyway. SIGH

Not really, most of the big announcements have been on Thursdays. For example new lock-boxes, the anniversary event, winter event were all announced and implemented on Tuesdays. If announcements occur on the same day as patches, it helps dissemination (you know when to check about new content). It also helps time management ( The team knows exactly how long they have to make good on their plans.)

Heck this teaser site was launched on a Thursday.

The team knows that this will have everyone screaming faction. If they don't plan on releasing one, it really is kind of heartless marketing. That being said, i think there have been some good arguments for why a new faction may not be a good idea.

Well I guess we'll see in about 3 weeks here...

I predict the countdown will be a major announcement, but it will be lacking in substance. It will simply be confirmation that the update either is or is not a faction, with a lot of fluff and hype to pad it.

We can complain about the lack of KDF content/ships, and how they will add a new factions without finishing the KDF.
Or any [insert new Cstore/lockbox ship here] is op.

    As usual !
