Achieving 5 referals is a significant contribution to the game and those guys deserve to have a reward that stays exclusive to them for at least that long...

If the referal program is ongoing then it should never be added to the c-store. Only players that refer 5 playeyrs with 5 referals should should get it - and possibly long-time Vets.

This is exactly how it should be.

Of course it should be added. I have no interest in flying it, but if Cryptic is going to post the exclusives up there for all to pick and choose, then put galaxy on as well. Nothing should be sacred. :(

ALL of my "exclusive" pre-order bonuses have been put in the C-store for sale...

Then SO should the "exclusive" Galaxy-X, in no more then 4.5 months...

....what seems to be the exact time an item remains "exclusive" in STO

    seems fair to me!

I'm inclined to agree. I've been against all this c-store BS from the beginning, but I've realized that all my flaming is not going to convince a business' marketing department to change their profit-motivated plan.

As such, I see it as all or nothing. If it's available as a bonus from any source, it should be available in the C-Store.

Add the Galaxy Dreadnought class to the C-Store.

Cryptic assured the Pre-Order lifetime subscribers that the Liberated Borg will remain exclusive, indefinitely.

If Galaxy-X will become available via C-Store, the Liberated Borg should be available to the general populous first. Makes sense in every aspect. Fair and square.

People definately deserve something for their troubles of recruiting.
But on the same note, its 2409 and I should be able to buy a ship from 2395.

If they did, they would be removing a major incentive to get people playing this game.. Think they definately should not!

AS much as I would love to be able to buy a Galaxy X Class on the C Store I do feel, It should stay a relatively rare ship and remain as rare as much as possible.

I am not sure how game changing the ships cloak and cannon really are if there where to be more ships out there, but I had the privilege to witness a Galaxy X Class ship in game for the first time, and all I could say was wow!

It looked so cool and even chatted with the guy a bit. I thought it was really fun to come across someone flying such a rare ship, even when I may not get to fly it.

It added a great deal of coolness to that day playing the game. I just wished I had invited him to play Pvp with me. Just did not have the time. I really wanted to see how it handled it self in Pvp.

I have to wonder knowing what I know now if cryptic knew when they launched the raf they were going to be releasing the preorder items to the cstore that way people would still do the raf because at that point in time the preorders were still exclusive. So people figured this is the only way to get the ship. I'm not one who usually has conspiracy theories but that looks like exactly waht happened here. Then factor in the lack of response from a dev on the matter they want people to keep trying to get referals and still have the option of selling it on the cstore. C'mon cryptic give us an answer already there are countless posts on this subject why not answer at least one of them.

I'm torn. Many good points about encouraging new users, enhancing gameplay and such have been made re: adding the Galaxy-X to the C-Store. For me, it comes down to the effort I had to put in as a sales-rep, trainer and support agent for the STO Demo, in order to earn my reward.

I recruited friends and family via the demo, then spent a lot of time coaching them through the demo and getting some grief for the poor manual, UI-layout, etc. These are some hard-core Trekkers... but there are many hurdles to getting up in running in this game that I had completely forgotten about since I began in the days of Closed Beta. Add to that the frustration with the limited nature of the demo (Tutorial, Spacedock and the Azura?) and I had to do something of a PR job to offer them enough encouragement to try the game out for 30d.

Most were hooked by the time they got to Lt Cmdr and achieved their first ship upgrade, but I received (in a condensed version) pretty much every "This is broken...." and "How do I do...." question from my hand-picked-crew, that you could get. I took the time to respond in person, lead RP'ed training missions, etc. In the end, we've got a small RP fleet, and everyone seems to be having fun.

But I worked hard as a "Cryptic" Ambassador to get that ship, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a primitive need to feel "elite". =) If they retain the "free" method to get the reward ship while allowing people to buy it, a) who am I to argue? b) then the same opportunity that was given to me exists for others. Seems pretty fair from my own perspective.

I just wish this game was easier to sell on its own!!!

All that being said - My effort and story is my own. If Cryptic puts this ship into the C-Store, I have in the very least a group of good friends I'm playing the game with as the result of this RAF program. For me, this was a worthwhile exercise... despite my primitive feelings.

Live long and stay thirsty, my friends.

I'm in for the Gal-X in the store, or as a veteran reward or something. Reason being, it's not really the status symbol the Devs want it to be. IT creates the illusion that someone found 5 people to sign up for STO, when in reality 99% of the people, bought 5 of their own accounts just to get the ship, so that 1% that DID earn it through actually getting 5 people to play really has nothing to show for it as they just look like someone who pried out their credit cards and charged 1 month to 5 accounts.

It will be put into the C-Store sooner than later, so far all the exclusive pre-order bonuses have been. This is along the same line. It was done to boost sales and subscriptions, even if it they are false subscriptions.

Imagine all the people paying $30 x5 for the game to refer themselves, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted myself. That's 12,000 Cryptic Points! Just give it to us at 1/10 the cost, that's still $15 :D

After they put the Galaxy on the C-store, how long will it be before they add the referral Holographic BO? Or did they already do that?

The Holographic BO is also the ONLY thing on the referral page listed as "Exclusive".

It is flagged as unique and hence you can only have one at a time which means if you want an alt to have it you have to get rid of the one you have already

Make it available to those who complete a gruelling mission chain and get a particular set of accolades. But, hey, folks've been saying things like that since the beginning.

I agree. I will be getting the x in a month. I hate to see it added to the c store but I would not mind seeing it made available by doing a mission on hard or higher. Maybe a whole chain of missions to get a set of plans for it or any other dreadnought class ship.

So your saying it should be a grind?

So your saying it should be a grind?

Believe it or not... after I left FFXI because of how grindtastic it was... yes, I am essentially saying that. I'd rather it was a matter of requiring thoughtful puzzle-solving and skill in combat, but that's notoriously hard (albeit not impossible) to do in an MMO.

Look, there are a handful of achievements I've been proud of in the time I've played MMOs. One of them was finally getting the artifact head armor -- The Hat, for you former Red Mages out there -- in FFXI. Surviving a pirate attack in EVE long enough for the jerk to get CONCORDOKKEN'D, and targeting his pod to let him know he could be waking up in a clone body any second now for that affront.* Getting the Rulaaru's weapons in COH. ** There are a few others if I think hard enough.

The point is, all of these involved more than a little time and/or lots of effort in the game. It involved some planning, more than a few hair-raising moments,*** and tension and excitement and time spent playing the game. I didn't just shell out bucks for The Hat. I didn't swipe my card so I could swipe Rularuu's Talons. I spent time playing the game because I had a goal and it was fun. In-game rewards for accomplishing in-game goals keep people playing and involved and engaged with the game, long after the episodic content has become stale. They (sometimes) encourage people to gather together to accomplish these goals. And every hour that a person is playing the game and having fun is at least a day that they're not sitting around bored and wondering if they should cancel their subscription. And it makes them more likely to recommend the game to friends: If they're having fun, they can induce their friends to play without feeling guilty or feeling like shills or being salesmen. Heck, Cryptic should be familiar with this, they're the ones who put the Shadow Shard, the Rularuu weapons, and all those goddamn eyeballs into COH. :) (Again, I blame Atari marketing for being short-sighted.)

'Grind' is not necessarily an antonym for 'fun.' It usually is, but if the goal is worth it to the player, they will enjoy the process of getting the reward at least a little and the reward will be even more enjoyable. And with the right type of 'grind' it makes things equal: It's just a matter of time and (if done right) a bit of skill. Not how much money you can spend or how hard you can push people.

So yes. Despite my being a staunch opponent of grind, you have my sentiments in essence: Make it an in-game grind to get. Not a C-Store purchase, not some sort of R5F reward (though that dreadnought cruiser has sailed.) But something that keeps players playing and enjoying the game

But not too much of a grind. ^_^

    * - Yes, it would have meant I got C-DOKKEN'D too. But that long minute of him wondering if I was crazy enough to do it was worth it!
** - Attack ships on fire off the shodulder of Orion... c-beams glittering in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate.... :D
*** - Me: "Hate eyeballs, hate eyeballs, hate eyeballs...!" Overseer and his ten buddies: "RULAARUUUUUUU!"
