I would think sexism in trek is an established enterprise (sic) but then again, this could be a troll thread to out female players who express themselves openly and enjoy dressing scantily ala green orions only threads. If cryptic does not approve of this they easily could remove all of it and I would not complain either way.

That is a bizarre accusation, why would I create a thread to out myself and others for something so minor? The thread was created for lighthearted discussion, I didn't expect it to turn into any form of debate! I've been called many things, but never a troll!

It would be cool if Cryptic came up with a Romulan and Klingon mirror universe uniform. :)

It would be, but the problem is we haven't seen any Mirror Romulans, and Klingon/Cardassian alliance uniforms are just prime universe uniforms with the KCA insignia.

I just love how a simple uniform request thread turns into a heap of social debate TRIBBLE.

I just love how commentary on social issues was the primary purpose of Star Trek to begin with. That includes the mirror universe as originally conceived: it was what the writers believed humanity was in danger of becoming if we didn't get our sh*t together. Can you really look at the world right now and say they were wrong?

Analysis of the full implications is part and parcel of Star Trek fandom. Get used to it.

Which completely misses the point I was getting at.

And I'm already "used to it", i.e. massive thread drift into off-topic territory. There are no "full implications" needing "analysis" in simple request to add a costume type, into a game that is nothing more than a Star Trek "theme park".

    You're being melodramatic.

Oh you ain't seen nothing. Well... unless you've seen the Delta Rising Rage.

You want to see venom? On a mod site that I used to frequent, Star Wars fans would get downright vicious when a Non-Star Wars mod got Pic of the Day for games like Empire at War. Especially if it was Star Trek related. Meanwhile in the areas for Star Trek games... Trek fans are like "Oh that's cool" whenever a Star Wars mod appears.

I am not a fan of pigtailed look, and they are to short to look good and being realistic. Where is the braid.. And more long hair options? The current ones are so limited. There are more nicer upto date options for the Romulan faction .. Just wish it was available for the others .. For both male and female.

Considering there are already more revealing outfits in this game that aren't restricted in where you can wear them, I can't see what the fuss is about. I mean sure, the current ones aren't shiny but really, is that a good reason to single these out?

Also, on a side note, as it's been mentioned previously, the theme is canon and it's entirely possible that despite the history of women's treatment in the mirror universe (which since DS9 seems to have completely reversed) have we not considered maybe mirror universe women like to show themselves off? A bit like Orion women in the prime universe, which I might add, nobody on these forums seems to openly oppose... Just a thought.

@gulberat you make a great point, I think it did created this shift in Jadzia's personality and how could it not.

Perviously the part of Curzon that was in love with Jadzia and more importantly the part that was sexually attracted to had been repressed by the symbiont Dax either out of respect for Curzon or out of concern for Jadzia mental health.

But once the secret was out and Curzon rejoined Jadzia with his deep hungry lust for her alive and active in Jadzia herself, well she'd be in a constant state of sexual arousal brought on by Jadzia herself, which means no rest of relief could be hand by being by herself.

That means the calm, balanced, Jadzia who believed she was beyond based desires was forever changed by the Zian'tara into a constantly horny woman with an insanely high libido. And when Ezri inherited Dax she inherited Curzon, Joran, and post Zian'tara Jadzia so no wonder Ezri slept with 2 fellow officers, dated Captain Boday and flirted with Quark in less then a year, Ezri never stood a chance against all that lust.

If they do give us these new mirror universe outfits it would be nice if they were made cross faction, that is if they aren't planning on making any kind of Romulan or Klingon equivalent. Technically speaking, they aren't Federation uniforms, though they are based on the Sierra I believe and I think I've seen images of mirror Leeta wearing what looks like a modified Jupiter jacket.

P.S. Some of my earlier comments in this thread were sarcasm. I was trying to bring in some humor since the thread quickly devolved into an annoying debate. Sorry if it upset anyone.

P.P.S. It would be nice if we could finally get Captain Kirk's mirror universe sleeveless top, as well as various decorations they wore on their uniforms.

Yours is a reasonable suggestion that should in no way exclude the availability of mirror universe outfits for KDF and Romulan players.

Why these were never included in the first place I'll never know; it's an omission long overdue to be fixed.

If I'm not mistaken, Captain Boday was one of Jadzia's flings...but yeah, while I admit I'd seen Curzon as egocentric, not just hedonistic (remember how Jadzia dated Worf yet trashed his beliefs every chance she got?), your theory on the psychology of it does make sense.

There's some details I like from the new dawn mirror costume, the embossed insignia will work on the oddy uniform I think

Why does anyone need a reason to dislike anything?

Only if they're advancing their personal tastes as a valid reason to limit other peoples' options.
Even then, wouldn't it be more reasonable to only be against the limitation of other's opinions via said person and not said person's own personal tastes.

It's interesting that nothing of these took place here, one person voiced personal dislike about them, I stated they are in poor taste and aimed at teenagers and made a few snarky comments about how the MU was killed by uncreative writers. It is you who starts to fling the morality debate around.

speaking of some days it seems 90% of everything is aimed at teenager boys. what about men( and I guess women too. :P ) I'm 25, where I'm at in my life I'ld rather see a pretty woman in a nice dress, though suits can be rather nice, then a bunch of nothing or clothes so tight it's amazing they can move at all. I don't know maybe I'm weird or something. thank you to those of you kind enough to read my rant you may go back to ignoring me now.

The reasons everything these days is aimed at teenagers are that they have the most time on their hands and are generally quite prone to spending their parents money, something to do with spending someone else's money makes it easier to ignore costs.

Also, when you look at the stereotypes (which to some degree are based in fact) women tend to be less impulsive with money and generally have less interest in videogames although I think this is something of a self fulfilling prophecy.

The self-fulfilling prophecy thing is it. When things are aggressively marketed to a single demographic AND made strongly inhospitable to those outside of that demographic, why would those on the outside want to expend the effort to get in?

Impulsivity with money, in contrast, can very much go both ways. I've heard of that in both men and women.

I don't think so, except for trolls. There have been enough opportunities to voice honest critique and it has been done, a nonsense mirror uniform won't spark it anew I think. Maybe when the Dentals feel bored someone tries to ignite a fire but that's about it.

There are plenty of uniforms and armours in game that are not sexualized in game, no far more then are sexualized in fact, the vast majority of female uniforms are not sexual.

For female sexualized uniforms there is the Orion Uniform (that only Onion females get), the Mirror Universe Uniforms, the Seven, Trio, and T'pol uniforms that are avialable fed side only, a variant to the main uniforms that shows a bit more skin, but that barely counts and its not a whole uniform. None of the armour visuals are sexual at all.

And all these sexuality=Sexism is TRIBBLE, feminist lies and indoctorination (trust me I was a self hating male feminist for years, till I opened my eyes and learned to accept myself for who I am, I make no apologies for my sexuality, none).

I'm not going to get involved in the should/should not have the MU uniforms, but since the thread has veered into talking about diffrent uniforms. ..It would be nice for female characters to have something between the mini and pants. Say a knee length skirt. I want my female officers to be able to look profesional yet feminine in something other than pants, and running around planets in the elements with minis just doesn't seem realistic to me. Now if you want them, that's cool. I'm only speaking for myself
