They really need to put NW on a separate server. Because they want to cut costs too hard you get these kind of problems...

No doubt. Server down at Champions too. So this is a PWE/ARC issue, not software really. It's purely operations.
Just signed onto Champions and they're complaining about DC's as well. So apparently the operations staff are the ones to blame for this level of incompetence.
And make no mistake - this is incompetence. I've worked for multiple ecommerce companies, and they pride themselves on a 99.X uptime rating each YTD.
I don't play STO all that much and It is down for me at LEAST 10% or more of the time for more than 5 hours. And that's me missing the outages I completely missed when I don't play and when I suspended my payments for a year. If I had to take a guess, i'd say these guys are running at 80% uptime per year. Less than that if you consider when they have a problem with one shard, they have a problem with all their other games as well. If I was their operations manager, I'd either quit as their CTO/CIO's dependence on shard technology should have been put to rest years ago, or fire the entire operations staff as they have demonstrated they can't effectively administrate their servers.
Honestly that "Light" has no real meaning... I've logged in when it was red. And not been able to log in when it was green. I don't pay attention to it any longer.
That said the servers are obviously having major issues this morning. And I can't speculate about the cause. I just wish I knew when it might be fixed so I could minimize my frustration with repeatedly logging in only to be disconnected in a matter of minutes. That part is truly getting old!
I am reading and hear waaaa, or cryyyy, or waaaaaa and cry lol. The server is down, there is nothing you can do about it.
I have an idea...
Go find something else to do like eat, watch Tv, or find another game to keep yourself busy. But to post "i see a red light on server", or, "Sever is down for me too"... lol.
Interesting to simply be entertained by you all who can not live without sto haha.
Get out, find girlfriends or a life and stop your b*tching about what we all know is a down server.
That, or make a funny remark or something that is interesting and please stop posting what we all know.
And by the way, those poor hamsters or tribbles, there doesn't seem to be a consensus about that.
They use the three types of IDIC tribble buffs to dope the hamsters...

There are some reports of users now being able to get in - I have tried and have logged in with out delays between screens or character lists and I have not been disconnected.
Can you all try logging in again now and let us know if you can get in okay now?
If you are on the launcher and it still has a red light, please just try launching the game.
If you still have problems, please post back and say which error message you get and at what point you're disconnected.

I still had the red light, but got in anyway. Even opening the launcher now it still shows red.
