The Talaxian species needs to have the unique species trait: "25% chance to cause food poisoning."
Also, does the new Voyager sickbay come with our very own easily-annoyed EMH? And if it does, does he love singing, and do I have to issue a ship-wide Yellow Alert to evade his VERBOSE speeches?
New 50-60 level cap
New lootz up to Mk XIV
T6 ships
Delta Quadrant stuff, with no details on story or if story really matters
Lots of ships
New species like the Kazon and Okampa, although it was said that we are only exploring the "southern" parts of the DQ when those races appeared in seasons 1 and 2. I don't get that.
I'm trying hard to remember anything else. It seemed very cryptic on story and rich on just raising the bar. Those were my impressions.
He can also operate that Space Elevator, that Starfleet STILL hasn't built yet (so we can take an elevator ride from the Academy to ESD)
He also makes a mean Anti Theta-Radiation stew ... Which Cryptic should add to the game as a Consumable = You are immune to radiation poisoning, but you have to stop every 60 secs to puke up your Dietary Supplement ...
Ugh! Voyager sucks sooo bad. Why do they keep ramming it into the game? We're getting Kazon and Okampa??? Species so bad and uninteresting even Voyager decided to ignore them 2/3'rds of shows lifespan? Also getting sick of Tuvok and Kim slapping there faces on any and all TRIBBLE Trek projects for the simple sad reason that they're cheap and available. I guess youtube will get a break from them while theyre committed to STO for a while. You know times are tough when you're an out of work sci fi actor that didn't even get a spot on Stargate (where ALL newly unemployed sci fi actors used to go to die lol).
I'll be interested to hear the BS reason I need a T6 ship against a bunch of fools that haven't figured out transporters.
I am going to be 100% honest here. Whenever I re-watch the Voyager series, I always entirely skip over the Kazon part. I refuse to watch a Kazon episode.
They can fly freighters, working as....less than honest traders. They are sort of like the Delta Quadrant equivalent of Ferengi, only not anywhere near as idiotic, or ugly.
New species like the Kazon and Okampa, although it was said that we are only exploring the "southern" parts of the DQ when those races appeared in seasons 1 and 2. I don't get that.
Define "southern." Think in terms of the Bajoran Wormhole, which leads all the way to the Outer Rim of the Gamma Quadrant. The Caretaker Array took Voyager nearly to the Outer Rim of the galaxy, which is twice the distance than what Earth is from the the Alpha/Beta Outer Rim. So the nomadic Kazon tribes, Ocampan space, and what remains of Talaxian space are all located in the Outer Rim. This means that the distance Voyager needed to travel was the equal of a trip to the planet where Enterprise encountered God, flying back to Earth, then coming back to the God planet, and then part of the way back to Earth again. So how did the Kazon, Ocampan, and Talaxians manage to get into the Alpha/Beta Quadrants in the first place, much less coming in significant numbers to become a part of the local populations?
For that matter, how did the Voth get so close the the Alpha/Beta Quadrants? Voth space is located only slightly farther inward than Talaxian space, which still places it significantly farther away from the Core than Earth. The Solanae Dyson Sphere is supposed to be located near the Alpha/Beta Quadrant border, but still just inside the Delta Quadrant, which means it actually is located inside the galactic Core region. So, how did Voth manage to get there in the first place? For that matter, the Core is an unimaginably violent region, stellar formation, death, rebirth, collision, consumption, any planetoid in the region spending its entire (and short) existence without ever knowing what night is, not to mention a supermassive black hole. So how did the Solanae Dyson Sphere manage to survive at all, let alone survive for as long as it supposedly did?

Did they even have shields? It never looked like they did when the Kazon ships were hit. Also, the Borg thought so little of the Kazon that they didnt even want to assimilate them. If a sci-vessel with an affirmative action crew with a man-hating banshee in command armed with a limited number of torpedoes (just ignore the self-replicating photon torpedo launchers Voyager was secretly equipped with) can single handedly take on the Kazon then my newly acquired Tier 6 whatever should be no match. That is unless they give them a superbuff more out of sync then the Borg supernerf we have all come to know.
I can see it now "These unintelligent space nomads that never developed a simple replicator managed to steal, copy, and adapt the best Federation technology from the 2370's that Voyager had to bring you a feared enemy you battle here today."
I don't mind a level cap increase. I don't mind gear upgrading to Mk XIV, as long as lobi and rep gear stays auto levelled.
I want new ships, i want new classes, new everythings! Lol.
However your comparison with WoW is stupid. And anyone else that comments about all MMO's having obsolete gear stages have limited knowledge of the issues.
WoW is a subscription game.
STO is not a subscription game.
As a result i have paid a lot of money over the last couple of years buying lockbox keys, lockbox ships and C store ships. People are just worried that their ships will be made '2nd best' with a level cap.
There is no one here, i don't care what anyone says, who really doesn't want a level cap raise and new ships and ship classes. They just don't want their money, either in game or real life, to be wasted. I don't think that's unreasonable. Snarky comments about it either shows you spent zero money on this game or you have too much money to spend on it. Either way, not representative of the majority of STO players.
Devs said hold off on the pitchforks, and thats all good. I am sure they will have a good method to upgrade etc. However if my Lockbox and fave C store ships are 'not quite as good' as T6 ships after an upgrade or whatever they propose, i won't pitchfork anyone. I just won't buy any more stuff. I can't afford to go round buying a whole new fleet of ships, nor can i justify it.

They took a poll sometime back and people OVERWHELMINGLY wanted more Voyager content, so that's what they worked on.
I think you're being way too harsh on Russ & Wang...
New story content? Cool, I like that. If the LoR missions are a benchmark, they should be fun to run through at least once and relatively painless to repeat on alts. I hope the missions are delivered in one or two huge blobs, if they are dripfed over the next six months that could be a little more frustrating. I also hope the missions provide an adequate source of XP/etc to hit the new level cap.
Level cap raise? Sure, why not? It's an MMO staple and even has precedent here in STO. As long as the sources of gear we use now (Rep/Fleet stores etc) are updated with Mark XIV gear, this will be a fairly simple thing to overcome. I don't know about this new captain specialisation thing, we need more information beyond "This is a thing." I guess we need more information on everything, but these are just my first impressions on what we have.
New grinds? Ehh, so it goes. It's not like they're hard or time consuming to get the marks for, just time-gated for leveling it. 1500 marks is all it takes to get T5, then whatever extra for the shiny stuff. I've already stopped trying for crafting, I don't care for it. I can't say I like the Reputation grinds, however I don't get my knickers in a twist over them.
New ships? They're a given really. I'm hoping we get a choice of one basic T6 for free, as we do with every other promotion barring VA. As for the whole T5.9/T6/T6.5 whatever? If I can still have fun in a T5.9 then I have no problem with the concept. If I see a T6 ship I like? I'll get it and if I don't see one I like? I won't bother. On a related note http://i.imgur.com/gD6fWCi.png looks a LOT like a flash new Defiant class to me.
All in all, I want to see the fun stuff. I want to see detail and info dumps. I want to see how I can enjoy this expansion.
I don't mind a level cap increase. I don't mind gear upgrading to Mk XIV, as long as lobi and rep gear stays auto levelled.
And this is the big problem. Why the hell we need in first place another cap level?? why the hell we need in first place mk XIV items?? im really tired of seeing cryptic do stupid things just because they dont have a clue about making things better and because they want to boost the power creep to new levels. Its really frustrating to play a game behind a company that lacks completely of imagination, seriously. I wish they will invest time and efforts on thinking ways to balance the game and make it more bearable instead of trying to fill it with stupid things. And yes, i DO care about new level cap and new items, because that means the game is not evolving, the opposite.

Level cap increase means a fresh chance to rebalance the game, a reset switch in some cases. Yes on the surface you'd assume it just means the players get more powerful - and the higher Mk gear would support that - but you forget that the enemies will also be bumped up significantly.
Raising the level cap and introducing Mk XIV gear supports both the requirement to give players new things to work toward *and* allows designers to tailor content to the new max level. In a year or two we'll probably be back to where we are, but that's when they'd need to raise the cap again. Level cap increases are used by many MMOs for a very good reason.

It is EXACTLY the same over and over again. Cant you see it? lol. Ow, seriously, how many kids (no offense i wish i was a kid, so i will have at least a reason to say non sense things) are playing this game? lol. Yes level cap is used in a lot of mmos to just live longer, thats all. It doesnt change the balance of the game. It will be the same we have now, but with more numbers. It is really concerning that some of you, even if you played for a long time, after so many years you dont know how cryptic does things.., this is a clear move to keep players insterested in the game, but we will have even more power creep than now. So, the game will be even worst. You will see it, in time. New items, new ships, new stuff, just the same over and over again, only with the purpose to keep players throwing money from their wallets. Balance???? dude, i dont see it, i dont.
To add more things to do and to re-balance the game.
Lol, re-balance the game can be achieved without a levelcap increase. Cryptic just dont have any idea how. They cant make balance updates to the game, so they just release another cap increase and new items, ships, and a huge etc. And please explain to me, why do you think with a level cap increase things will be more balanced??? because maybe i am the most stupid guy in the world, but i dont see it.
If you are in a completely square white featureless room with an infinitely high ceiling and the floor is then raised 10 meters what is the deference? Its the same with making all the numbers bigger and not making new ways to use said numbers, you are basically in the same place.

well, we already know all that days ago, forum is flooded with it.
if all the area is that we explore is nearby kazon space, then all the usual suspects will be there, kazon, talaxians, haakonian, trabe, numiri, baneans, vidiians, human colony, akirtirian, sikarian and many others i would imagine. there was however images of hierarchy and malon in there so it must extend quite a bit beyond that area.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
and the unimatrix 0 ex-drones? the new collective led by the human female (forgotten her name)?
question:
the mirror ships will be updated? The mirror Ki'tang is the best BOP for now, i hope an update.
concerns:
even with new ships (not interested), level increased (not interested), how they will avoid the routine. After 1 week or 2, the new "campaign/missions" will be finished; we will have a new rep, a new box, new stfs which will become boring after played 10 times. always the same things!
I would prefer to fly in a trash can and :
- having a lot of stuff to do with my boffs (away team),
- exploring strange new worlds,
- trading with species.
- more clothes for the roms and the klingons
- cooperation between players to solve problems (captains helping an other one), this means very hard missions; not only missions where you run and kill everything
They should create a free mini-faction where players could find other things to do (trader, smuggler, pirate, friend of the gorn rebellion etc). these things wouldn't be in contradiction with the spirit of Star Trek

You wasn't here for the vote? Or either you forgot? Anyways, there was a big vote taken for the players/fans to decide the new direction for the game for future content. Listed was all the shows from Enterprise to Voyager. Voyager won the vote, so now we head to the Delta Quadrant.
To me this is good, cause now we can see what happened after Voyager's trip through that place. Or at least one theory of it.

only if everybody is promoted to the new baseline, otherwise its a further separation between the haves and have-nots. Do you honestly believe they are going to turn everybody's stuff into T6 with Mk XIV gear? I dont. They wouldnt even upgrade the small number of existing Fleet Patrol Escort hulls when the Refit was released. No evidence at all that they will upgrade everybody. Its not a balance reset its a grind reset, an arbitrary one at that.

Guess I missed the vote because I would have went in another direction for sure. I actually agree that it would be nice to see the results of Cpt "Let's make Kirk look like a girl when it comes to breaking the Prime Directive" Janeway. Sadly, I really don't have faith in that happening in any meaningful in depth way. I expect we will get our T6 ships, our new skill trees, a lockbox, a few new missions to finish off the "Mystery of the Purple People/Iconian Gateway" - then we will all be back to the status quo playing our fave 3-5 PvE's over and over and over. Hell we might even play a couple of new ones until everyone finishes whatever new rep grind and ignores them totally like so many other maps in the queues.

There is still a chance in the future for something from the other shows. I would like to see more of the Alpha and Beta Quadrant since there is still some gaps there. Having fun in the Gamma Quadrant would be nice as well. But with the Dominion there. It could go either way.

I voted for Voyager based purely on "What would I least mind seeing Cryptic take a big steaming dookie over". Plus, it's pretty much an open book, so they can't TRIBBLE it up too much.
It seems people are mixing general, basic MMO problems with issues in this specific game. It's an MMO, so it will follow some development path resembling an MMO. If you don't like this game model then don't blame it on the game. Monopoly is cool but I don't like to play it because people take things too personally, so I don't play it.
They've been talking about level increase for over two years, here it is. I haven't seen a good objective reason why this is a bad thing yet. Let's wait for the blogs & tribble testing. It looks like they are taking strides to make the game better and more expansive. I welcome it because I don't log in just to play STFs every single session. I think that a game based on an IP with a dynamic universe shouldn't just leave me logging in and out within 15min only to start time gated projects.

I hear your pain.. True I am out of ship slots! Really the Risa LC along with it's Risa CV-Escort more than enough. Until they have 5/5 weapons = 10 weapons payloads, 5x for everything slot Tac, Eng, Sci consoles then maybe it's a good idea to have new ships. Skins are changed the functions and objects seems to be the same. So either skin the ship you have now or use the holo to flip/flop the look/function animation of your ship engine stream.
For me I would like to see fixes to the glitches (aka bugs) might never get fixed unless more focus on the issues instead of skipping them to add to the confusion of more new features most of really don't need, but others might need them. If the Exchange gets can? Then you only have R&D Crafting option. Sto needs the Exchange and Vendors they got rid on Dilithium Vendors.
Expansion 2 or Season 10 which ever comes first. What they really need to do is buy new Servers and revamp the current code using for this game. Hire more creative developers or do some freelance hiring of some of these smart players who can come up with more missions for us all under Foundry Missions.
Exploration is needed too.. I agree with you on that one..

FWIW - Al made passing mention of filling in the 'Northwest' end of Federation space still being on the books for future expansion at the STLV panel.
So that dusty old entry at STOWiki is still on their radar - but with the current tack clearly oriented towards the Delta Quadrant, who knows where that lies on their priority list?

They cant make balance updates to the game, so they just release another cap increase and new items, ships, and a huge etc. And please explain to me, why do you think with a level cap increase things will be more balanced??? because maybe i am the most stupid guy in the world, but i dont see it.
well, we already know all that days ago, forum is flooded with it.
if all the area is that we explore is nearby kazon space, then all the usual suspects will be there, kazon, talaxians, haakonian, trabe, numiri, baneans, vidiians, human colony, akirtirian, sikarian and many others i would imagine. there was however images of hierarchy and malon in there so it must extend quite a bit beyond that area.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
question:
the mirror ships will be updated?
That was taken out with Season 9.5 and no forseeable future it's coming back. Ever!

I'm looking forward to the first dev blog.
Time will only tell!
