Because you don't risk dropping something out like this going into a weekend - you do it at the start of the week.
You'd risk dropping what's on Tribble right now after all of the feedback (and other responses) it's gotten? It has improved bit by bit as Tribble patched, but it could still use a quite a few iterations of that...
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
And where is the announcement here on these fora to, you know, actually read?
I assume it will come on Wednesday, in a Blog and in Patch Notes.

But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Just looking at the website I see 4 Blogs about 9.5 since the 1st of July - and today is the 15th, which means 1 Blog about every 4 days. There have been 9 other posts about other things since the 1st of July as well. That is 13 website posts in 15 days - and that includes a 4-day holiday weekend.
That does not seem like "hardly ever" to me. YMMV.

That we just got another Tribble patch today, that Geko actually posted about another change that hasn't hit Tribble yet, that there's supposedly some sort of R&D tutorial (all my toons simply received a box and a thank you for having done something that I didn't do), the missing this, the missing that, the bugs, and all the rest definitely point to it not only not happening Thursday, but it not happening next Tuesday either - that it's another week out for the following Tuesday...
...but the main gist of the not deploying on a Thursday is much simpler than that - it's just a case that gives you a partial Thursday, part of Friday, and then you're into your weekend crowd...and if the hamster poo hits the fan - you're in for a hellatious weekend and bad vibes. It's hitting into prime playtime for a bunch of folks that may not play that much during the week, but have that time on the weekend...and you could tick them off. You deploy on a Monday/Tuesday, you've got the week to fix things before hitting that weekend.
Just as simple as that - this isn't an internal business upgrade where they'd look at scheduling it for the end of the week, knowing folks goof off on Friday anyway and they can get it fixed over the weekend before Monday comes. It's a game...you don't risk TRIBBLE with your weekends like that.

i already suspected the oddy/bort uniforms would be ready to be put on the server this week anyway as the timeline would fit ideally. but the whole of 9.5 as well? lets see if its ready for the attempt, if its still full of bugs its going to sink without a trace and without fail it would be another colossal disaster.

they shouldnt do that, if nothing is coming they should make it clear in no uncertain terms that it was a bad post or something like that, state the usual sorry and move on. if a company says one thing but does another then how can you trust they will follow it a second third or forth time or any of their content. a trifle bit DOOOOOOOMMM!!! like ya think?

Why do they always make such a fuss about it? I'm pretty sure Cryptic knows more than a week before when the new season is going live. It's not like "oh damn my baby kept me up all night and now I can't finish the code till thursday. We have to postpone the new season."
