Stopped reading there. I am not going to start bringing my "medals" (I have a loooot) in to the discucion and start a debate of who is the more awesome, I am not going down to that level.

I am just going to finish with this:
Overpower Galaxy X will be wrong, no one asked for that (at least not the majority). Sames as
Romulan Vapers using Proton Barrage and Scimatars with aux2bat. Anyone is free to ask that in the PVP forum.

Considering how many posts I probably have in this thread by myself, thread length does not equate to individual posters. :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

And Cosmic's Dilithium grinding knowledge is questioned.

I question the knowledge of anyone that said that Romulans with Proton Barrage are ok and that griding for 2500 zen is hard.

Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.

I will get it out of the way: I main KDF - but only for the carrier.

Before the reboot, I am deadset on buying the Scimitar pack. Now? Not sure. I already have HEC and the Vestas, so I am wondering if I should bother with the Galaxy pack.

Scimitar. The Reboot is a joke hasn't changed anything at all - you fly a Galaxy, ANY Galaxy, because of the love for the ship, not for stats. If you want to perform then by all means buy the Scimitar.

When I heard the Gal-X was being redone I was glad but when I saw that they only changed the ensign tac into a ensign universal I was thinking "You got to be kidding me!?" I have to suggest to pass on this one as even the Fleet Excelsior and Ambassador preforms better than the Galaxy and Galaxy-X. My suggestion is with the other posters in this topic buy a Avenger or a Scimitar.

They changed more than what you listed. Kind of strange that you only looked at boff seating since that's just part of the whole package.

They made the Fleet Galaxy a very worthy ship OP, so I'd say buy the Galaxy pack. It's a bold new era for Galaxies in STO. Well for fleet Galaxy X's. But to really take advantage of the changes you need the set bonus so the pack is a good buy.

Only reason to buy Any of the Galaxy vessels is roleplay.
The updates are not worth it.

Changing an ensign tac slot into an ensign universal. Whooptidoo.
Slap on a hangar on the Galaxy-x. Why is the question on everyone's mind. Unnecessary.

2-piece console set from saucer Separation and Antimatter Spread is easily overclassed by more useful consoles.

Saucer Separation can now be used on the Galaxy-X, but the question remain.. WHY.

Add that nothing has been done to address the inaccurate Phaser lance and that the Galaxy-X only has a mere Lt Tactical making any use of DHC pointless.

So long story short: stay as far away from the Galaxy as you can, perhaps the developers will see the light and implement the changes proposed by the community but until that happens the Galaxy and its variants are not worth the investment.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

A lot of Galaxy X owners have asked for and even demanded saucer sep over the years. So they added it. It took forever so a lot of the threads asking for it are pretty old, but the reason "why" they did it is really kind of obvious. Because players asked for it.

Keep in mind that the purpose of the bundle is to focus on one of the ships, and use the 2pc console bonus.

The 2pc console set might be worth the bonuses compared to other kinds of set bonuses, but are you willing to sacrifice two console spaces on your Galaxy/Gal-X?

Also keep in mind, the Gal-X doesn't have many options available to it. It has such a slow turn rate (even with the 2pc bonus to turn rate) that cannons are usually not viable. (There are builds that can utilize it effectively though. See Matt's build)

The Gal-R is a tank, pure and simple. You won't get much damage out of it, compared to the Regent.

Also remember that, unlike the show, saucer separation does not offer a significant tactical advantage. You're just taking the top off of your ship and gaining maneuverability at the sacrifice of a lot of important stats (hull, shield power etc). Unless your ship is equipped with AMS, the saucer rarely does anything useful, and usually blows up.

According to Tribble testers from the past two days, it's a +2 bonus. That's a huge bump for a ship with that low a turn rate.

And also, it's a +10 bonus while separated.

The Fleet X is, according to testers, really nimble while separated. The separation animation adjustment makes separation easy to use. And the Lance was "fixed" for separation.

So the Fleet X really seems like it's been made to take advantage of separating. In that mode, it can pretty much be an escort and utilize cannons.

Oh, interesting. Somewhere I got the (mistaken) idea it was a +1 to turn, not a +2. (I like this!)

As for separation, each player takes a risk when they separate. From memory, the separated ship lose 13% of hull, -10 to some of your power tanks, and other detrimental effects. Also, specifically related to the Gal-X, the high damage Lance gets a reduction when it turns into the "sawed off shotgun" version of itself.

OP, the best advice I could give you would be to wait about a month for people's reviews of the starship(s) to be posted on these forums. Then make your decision. The ship isn't going anywhere :)

Scimitar pack or Galaxy pack? Are you serious? Might as well be choosing between getting a kiss from a super model or a kick to the nuts by Chuck Norris.

Ignore the apologists trying to rationalize use of the Galaxy. The Scimitar trumps them all by perhaps the greatest disparity exhibited between any ship in the game imaginable. There is simply no comparison.

Testers seem really pleased with the shotgun. It takes, IIRC, a reduction in distance. But gets a boost in actual effectiveness? (It does become an AoE type cone attack). Everyone on Tribble said it worked better than the unseparated lance.

They're saying that mostly because a lot of players just focus on the BOFF settings and ignored other things. I play a Fleet Galaxy (my first Fleet ship, in fact) and I love it, mostly because I can draw fire in PVE if needed, even though I'm a Tac player. I just need to get used to doing that, really.

Again, to the OP, wait a month or two and find out what other players think. The people here who are telling you to get the Scimitar is only saying that because of the lack of DPS and don't want to adjust.

When I was grinding dith to buy my rommie an endgame ship I was choosing between the Scimatar and teh Ar'kir Tac Carrier. I choose the Ar'kir and never looked back. I for one do NOT think the scimi is OP. In fact I see far too many that are underperformering in stf's as people just think if they get one of those "op" ships they can just coast though. In pvp I have blown up a large number of them as well in my mains Tac Oddy.. in fact I had a scimi decloak off my bow and open up with all her guns and she didn't even drop my hull past 75% before my shields were back to full and my hull back over 90% and she herself was destroyed. (This is NOT a challenge I am not a fablous pvper just pointing out that the ship for all it's DPS is also paperthin). To me a scimi feels more like a giant bop with a 5th forward gun and a horrid turn rate. I wouldn't buy one then, and I won't buy one now.

I Think if you already own the normal Galx X, and Gal R. Its worth the $5.

If i had no Galaxy and was looking at buying the whole pack + fleet module to get the Fleet X, im not sure if I would.

But that said, if you already own the the others, $5 for better turn rate, saucer sep, ship hanger, AoE Lance, and +1 tac consoles is actually pretty decent.

Like others said. It basically makes you a big Defiant, that has an AoE cannon and hanger. Sounds decent to me.

Is it shiny? Is it scrumptious? WILL IT MAKE US MONEY?

yes to the last so it happened, they need to fix BOff seating but other than that Im am pleased with the potential, the lance needs to be more accurate at point blank at least but cheese is cheese.

Galaxy is one of the most useless sacks of deadweight in the game. Most of the old ships are trash in comparison to the newer ones, and as we have seen from this "reboot" Cryptic CBA to make the old ones competitive. The only purpose for the older ships anymore is a vanity skin to fly around Sirius sector. If that's what you want from this game, then sure go buy it.

    Skip.

The only cstore bundle worth buying is the scimi. The only cstore ships worth buying are scimi and kumari. For others, get the fleet version and be done with it.
