Borg Set Change

Way to go cryptic. the Borg Set is now once again useless. the console connects to some other BS while the set we have now is just dumb. The Borg Regen shield is one of the most useless shields in the game and now you're basically FORCING people to use it.

    they arnt forcing anyone to use anything pal, i run all maco MK XII on my fleet defiant and its freakin awsome, i used to run all borg and maco shield but since the borg shield proc got nerfed i never used it at all, so try running all maco or omega for the (again nerfed tet glider) and high shield regen

    I'm pissed off because that means I'll have to REDO all of my ships. 3 Piece Borg or Bust. Also why wasn't this on the patch notes for Tribble?

    This isn't the first time B-Money, and it won't be the last... If they can get around telling us, they won't.

    It was the best science set for graviton generators, but now if we want any set bonus, we'll have to use the terrible borg shield or the not up to par maco space set (the 2 piece power is stupid and utterly useless). So I'll have to loose a lot of resilience or sci power efficiency.

    I understand the need to nerf tanking, especially for escorts, but once again it looks like a science nerf, even if it wasn't the original purpose. I do hope that the new omega adapted borg tech won't force us to make a lot of sacrifices and have goot other set parts, because I really need the console on my science ship. :cool:

    I'm not opposed to change but I hope the new omega adapted borg tech isn't a cheap set with terrible set parts, because I'll feat I have to loose the GREAT borg deflector with +5 to aux. That's already a huge nerf for scis.

    I'm only just collecting my borg set now (Got engines, 1 EDC away from getting the shield, still need the deflector), so don't know what's happened in those links provided. What exactly has happened?

    Sorry for the thick sounding question but does this mean that the seemingly universally recommended combination of 3 peice borg set and MACO sheilds is no longer viable/worthwhile?

    If so then great...I've just got all my main toons ships up to this level! :mad:

    It is no longer a 4 part set that allows you to have the 3 part set bonus and still use any stronger shield like MACO at the same Time.
    Now it is two 3 part sets.
    So if you want the 3 piece set Bonus you have to use the Borg Regen shield which has a low capacity.

    I know this annoys a lot of people, esspecially escort pilots who really lose out on tanking now.
    But lets face it. Escorts are not really meant to be that tanky anyway.
    Cruisers I am sure can compensate (esspecially since there seems to be a MK XII version of the Borg set now. Up till now it was only MK X?
    And science captains have a lot of other sets to choose from...

    Plus, no matter what, everyone will still be able to use the Borg console on top of the set of his choice.
    And even combine the new Borg set which consists of the console and 2 ship weapons. So possibly more visual Borg TRIBBLE on your ship than ever before. Bound to make some people happy.
    I wonder if equipping all 6 parts turns your ship completely Borg now.

    Id prefer more dynamic sets from the devs rather than nerfing a whole class just because the devs only know how to nerf...

    I never had trouble competing with my cruisers. Just took a bit longer. Elite STFs can still be completed well within time.
    The only thing that was impossible, was killing player escorts because they tank so well. Let's see, how well they hold out in a prolonged fight without the Regen procs or with weak shields.
    Of course you still have your OP doffs to unnaturally enhance your tanking...

    Fine w/me. I've been using MACO XII + 3 pc Borg for a while myself and as much as I love it on everything (cruisers and escorts), they were bound to take that koolaid away some day. Might actually make PVP a little more interesting as well.. (also apparent by the fact that no PVP'ers have thrown a nerdrage post in this thread yet)

    If you can't destroy an Escort then support the team Escort who can. It's called teamplay.

    And as for tanking, it's not like they can't take shield distribution doffs.

    Took a closer look at the new set bonuses.
    It appears, that this set will make a properly skilled cruiser captain very competitive.
    If you have the updated more powerfully MK XII set you get awesome tanking value. It seems to be designed to enhance damage output as well. The new console/weapon set looks to be very kinetic heavy.
    If the cutting beam is anything like the actual Borg version, it should have a good bit of shield penetration.
    Makes me want to try a kinetic damage build on a cruiser or science ship, because that should free up enough energy to put into shields.

    A tanking torpedo boat with cutting beam.. yeah. Sounds interesting.

    It was meant to be about the set, but someone bragged about escorts being nerfed down to cruiser level now, hence what started the off topic. :rolleyes:

    Wow im just speachless, i drop 3,200 shields (from 14.5 to 11.2) and gain a useless Tractor beam with a HUGE cooldown - unless that gets changed

    I guess the tankiest set now would be the full MACO, but the set bonuses are next to useless.

    Going to make it difficult to mix and match sets when you can only get one set bonus.

    Well apart from mixing the new Omega Adapted Borg console with the beam or torp and another set...

    There is no more Borg tractor beam, because there is no more 4 piece set... so don't worry. ;)

    How far your shield strength drops depends on how powerful the Mk XII version is of teh Borg shield.. I don't think anyone has seen those numbers yet.
