Season 6 Foundry Maintenance Timeline

Hi Captains!

The team and I wanted to let you all know about some important information about the Foundry and the launch of Season 6.

Currently, while we republish all missions made prior to launch, all access to the Foundry is off. This includes editing and playing. Once the republish process is complete, we will allow access to playing Foundry missions again. When we do, the ability to review missions will be temporarily disabled since we don't want Foundry authors to suffer from any possible decline in rating caused simply by the Season 6 changes.

We hope to have editing, playing and reviewing back up very shortly, and will provide updates in this thread as they become available. Also, we will be delaying this week's Spotlight on the Foundry until next Friday, where we will pick up again with the next spotlighted Federation mission.

Foundry authors: I made a forum post earlier in a week that gave a heads up on some important items -- you can check it out here. If you notice any unexpected issues that are not covered in that post, please let us know by commenting in that thread.

Thanks again and we'll see you in-game!

Cheers,

Brandon =/\=

Glad we could get an update on the foundry and its maintenance timeline, but how about an update on the game itself and its maintenance timeline? Been down basically for almost 9 hours now.

I'm just putting words here, but the question's in the title, when will we be able to edit stuff again?

A question about dailies - you might want to call out specifically in your timeline WHEN we will be able to complete our "Investigate Officer Reports" again. My KDF is just new so this was one of the few sources of quick dilithium available to me.

This is an excellent question. Seems that PW has really dropped the ball on this one. So when will the game be back online?

With the dailies and the gathering the dilithium ore for the daily dilithium refining in the dumps today, because of this build. Are we getting some compensation for waiting for this build to be finished? It takes a 30 minutes to get on longer with no problems, but if there are problems in logging on, it could take alittle longer. All in all, this build should be done in the wee hours, than during the daytime.

Thanks for the update Branflakes! And kudos to you guys for not turning the reviewing back on immediately. I, for one, am quite thankful of that since I'm sure I'll have to make some minor edits to my missions to get them back to the way they used to be.

It's day time for someone at any given time in STO, so doing it at any point on the clock would disrupt it for someone somewhere. Secondly, it had to be day time US as they needed to tie in with other networks / businesses etc.. so had to be done when each of them had staff in office.

I find it funny that some complain that there is not enough content in the game, and then on the flip side of that, there are people that complain when the servers are offline, while new content is put in.... they cant win..

why? they are safeguarding the missions so we dont run into the problems we had before. losing the foundry for a short period of time is better than authors getting one stars everywhere and people wasting their time playing broken missions.

this is a positive move and i applaud it.

Yeah, if anything it's the opposite of "The fail continues", because it's a solution to previous instances of alleged "fail". It's frustrating as I held off until after Season 6 before finishing my first mission, but I'm so, so glad I did. With even more bits I'll be able to put even mooaarrr on maps.:D

I know what you mean. :) With my very first mission that I'd ever done (it was a short one, just some way for me to get the hang of things), I was improvising since I couldn't use a specific location that wasn't available in the Foundry.

Now that it finally is, once the Foundry goes back up, I'll change my original first mission and now I get to expand on it! :D

As far as I'm concerned, for all they're adding into the Foundry [especially those items that should've been there a long time ago] and all they're doing to upgrade it, they can take as long as they want. :) I'd rather wait a long time and play a perfect Foundry than have them turn it on now and have their be bugs in it.

re-publishing didn't take this long during previous seasons. I hope all is well.

given that it is getting towards 24 hours after the end of maintenance, it would be nice to have an update. Even if it's just: "Hey guys, we're working on it, it's going well." or "Hey guys, hit a snag, but we're working on it."

On a personal note, I would really love to have Foundry back on for the weekend.

I really wish we could use our own images for our avatars; I miss that feature.

if you see this, that was resolved about a week ago. Look under the User CP in the left column.

I'm going to take their silence to mean we're not going to have the Foundry available for the weekend.

Sorry, the silence is unintended :) We mentioned in the OP that we will provide updates as they become available, but we do not have any yet other than the post made yesterday. We're not quite ready to bring the Foundry back online yet, but please know we want to ASAP and will once we know everything good-to-go.

Oh I agree with you there, they should safeguard the missions members have made.

Just a shame they couldn't have taken another week to do the season 6 update to make sure at no point content was removed while they "work stuff out"..

That's pretty much par-for-the-course when it comes to Cryptic.

Doesn't matter if the builds on Tribble is full of bugs, and half-broken features. They'll push it to Holodeck anyways, no matter what. They have their own schedule of doing things, and even if we provide tons of feedback, most of it goes ignored.

It does not quite work like that. they said they have run testes on tribble and internally and everything looked fine. theoretically it should work but when it goes live there is no guarantee that it will work exactly like it did in testing.

even if they delayed it by a month the potential for something to go wrong remains.
