I agree we need an update on when it will be back up, but I'm actually getting to believe that the devs aren't even paying these threads any attention or they would have answered us already. Its getting real frustrating that they don't care enough about us to give us a daily update to what is going on.
I wouldn't necessarily say they don't care, given that they are actually taking time to make sure the Foundry is brought up properly.
But in the PR business, perception is reality, so I would say some better communication with us is in order.

it is truly tragic and funny at the same time. when they take the time to do something right people complain that they are taking too long and fuss and cry about not having access... but when they rush something to make those people happy they are the same ones that cry and complain that it has bugs and blasts cryptic on their lack of proper QA.
if you were all as much addicted to the foundry as you profess to be you would know that there were MAJOR bugs that had to be worked out and we are not talking about 5 or 10 foundry missions but hundreds or more. or is this the thing for everybody to jump on the bandwagon and complain about this week because they are angry at life in general?
let them fix the damn thing right if that takes a few more days or even a week im all for it i also would rather there be a bug free fully functioning foundry system than what we had recently.
Heres a wild and crazy idea: dont break it in the first place and you wont need to fix it.
From what I've read about the upgrade, I wouldn't characterize it as "breaking it" so much as a conversion of code to a completely new system while still attempting to preserve functionality. More like trying to *avoid* breaking it, during the conversion.
But yeah, an update...especially with a hard deadline...would be sweet.
I think all the Foundry authors and fans should make themselves heard here. The Foundry offers a HUGE boost to game content without requiring story-writing or design from Cryptic/PWE, so I would think that would be a big win-win for everyone. Effort ought to be placed into getting the Foundry back online because it makes the STO experience a lot richer.

If you want the Foundry back up as soon as possible surely you want the devs to be working out all the bugs, checking the re-published missions to ensure they haven't been broken by the updates and just generally doing their jobs instead of lurking in the forums, reading impatient posts so that they can give you day by day updates.
It'll be up when it's up. There's no sense in complaining that it's down, that won't get it back up any faster and complaining that the devs aren't here telling you when it will be back up doesn't help anything either. These things take time if they are to be done right and frankly I wouldn't be surprised if the devs WERE ignoring all the posts in the forums. I know I would be because it can get pretty frustrating when no matter what you do all you get are complaints. When things are rushed out because everyone wants it right away they complain there are bugs or that it's not enough or a long list of other complaints and when they decide to take their time to ensure it will all work properly people still complain that they're taking too long.
We can all go without the Foundry for a few days, or a week, or even a month. It won't kill any of us. Read a book, go out for a walk, have a nap. There are plenty of other things that life has to offer. So please, stop complaining and bashing the devs over this stuff. You'll get it when you get it.
And as for "Heres a wild and crazy idea: dont break it in the first place and you wont need to fix it." Anyone who knows even the slightest bit about software development, especially in the form of complex applications such as games, knows that sometimes bugs come up where you never expected them to. The slightest error or smallest line of conflicting code or anything else can cause all kinds of problems.
It's not like the devs just decide to throw in a whole bunch of things to break the game on purpose. Patience. Regardless of what you may think creating and maintaining a game like STO is a lot of hard work. How about showing the devs a little appreciation for once. They also have lives and families and things outside of STO. If you can't survive a week without the Foundry then you really have to reevaluate your priorities.
Sorry to those of you who aren't just complaining and being ridiculously impatient (I know there are at least a few of you out there :P) but I've just been getting so tired of seeing people giving the STO devs such a hard time over every little thing. I also want to apologize if any of what I said seemed like it was personal, it wasn't, just stating that everyone needs to be a little more laid back over Foundry down time and actually post some things in the forum that aren't just slagging off the Cryptic devs.
Keep up the good work Cryptic, I know it'll be well worth the wait.
We found a few minor issues when we did the mass republishing after the season 6 patch. We have fixes in testing now and hope to have them live on holodeck by the end of the week. At that point we will open the foundry for play first and then editing assuming no more issues pop up.
Thanks for your continued patience and understanding.

The team and I wanted to let you all know about some important information about the Foundry and the launch of Season 6.
Currently, while we republish all missions made prior to launch, all access to the Foundry is off. This includes editing and playing. Once the republish process is complete, we will allow access to playing Foundry missions again. When we do, the ability to review missions will be temporarily disabled since we don't want Foundry authors to suffer from any possible decline in rating caused simply by the Season 6 changes.
We hope to have editing, playing and reviewing back up very shortly, and will provide updates in this thread as they become available. Also, we will be delaying this week's Spotlight on the Foundry until next Friday, where we will pick up again with the next spotlighted Federation mission.
Foundry authors: I made a forum post earlier in a week that gave a heads up on some important items -- you can check it out here. If you notice any unexpected issues that are not covered in that post, please let us know by commenting in that thread.
Thanks again and we'll see you in-game!
Cheers,
Brandon =/\=
hmmmm while we are on the subject of the foundry and this post is most likely in the wrong place but as a huuuuge fan of zombie film's and the few zombie missions on here i thought of i idea, as i know there are area of effect items on the foundry, such as fog, or low grav, how about a audio AOE item, and yes gou guessed it, zombie moans i think this would be both scary and awsome, and maybe some light items that flash on and off due to power surges? omg i got a awsome idea for a foundry mission already lol, PLEEEEEEEEASE do this for us zombie fans
Can see it now.... An away team has been sent to 'Jackson 5' where a federation ship refuses to answer any hails from Starfleet. An away team gets beamed into a fog filled darkened bridge..... moans coming from every direction...... the lights flash on for just a brief second......the away team backs away from the locations of the bridge they were investigating, until they all collide with each other back to back in the center of the room............ there's a loud bang a all the lights go out......... all that can be heard is breathing and strange moaning from all around them..... Tension music builds until the lights flick on and stay on, and to the away teams utter horror....A creature dressed in a red jump suit and 50 choreographed NPC's start doing the THRILLER

see now how awsome would that be? minus the thriller part XD
Summary for those who haven't read the whole thread:
The Foundry is currently offline because the updates to the Foundry in Season 6 required an automatic republishing of all missions. They disabled the Foundry last Thursday so they could monitor the republishing and check to make sure it was going through ok before letting us back in to mess with them.
They have since ran into some code bugs that are preventing some missions from republishing like they should.
Latest word (as of Tuesday night) is it'll be ironed out by the later part of this week.
Latest word (as of Tuesday night) is it'll be ironed out by the later part of this week.
But that's not a guarantee.
Also for those who are still locked out of the foundry and unable to buy and retain slots, the patch notes listed that it;s been fixed again but obviously there's no way to test this.
The only question I have, Is if they have a real Test server, that they keep exactly like the real sever aside from what they are testing, shouldn't there be NO excuse for this many bugs on the real server?

I just opened up the login screen and it said they'd be performing maintenance on the 20th from 0000 to 0200 PDT (0700 to 0900 UTC). They don't say anything about a patch, but I thought I'd let you all know.
Here's more info on what time it'd be starting and stopping in your time zone:

General:
Silver players who were gold players will now have 20 shared bank slots.
Resolved a formatting issue that prevented the entire description of the Tholian lock box from displaying properly.
Tier 12 Phased Tetryon weapons can now be equipped on the Armitage.
They need to resolve the formatting issue ALL OVER THE GAME... I am fed up of seeing "..." to more information that is off screen... You cannot re-size the screen or do anything other then hover your mouse over the ill completed text to see what it's saying. this is on the ship selection screen, the character info screen, the skills screen... is it that difficult to use justified formatting? or add a scroll bar if there is a lot of information. It just makes the pop up dialog's look amature.

First I've seen about such a problem. Usually that's a sign that the game has resized the video screen though. Tropico 4 does that all the time to me. Can you check to see if you have the video size set correctly at ESC -> Options -> Video.
