Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate Problem

    It's saying "Connecting" ... I hear this in the Eve Online girls voice.

    Launcher style is pretty important. Cryptic should learn this.
    An appealing launcher actually makes a game better in stressfull situations like this. :P

    So, it appears that things are beginning to come back on track.

    Well, the launcher now loads, but it's not patching. This is probably due to the load/utilisation.

    But, once it finally downloads, what can we expect from Cryptic with regards to the lack of service, and the very large lack of notification?

    I believe that we are entitled to compensation for this. I would like to hear from the company without their usual 4-day delay.

    I was able to login, but the lag is horrible. So I'd say it's NOT working (intended or otherwise). Let's hope we see a fix tonight.

    yeah I actually have already managed to download the patch... but don't get too excited once you download the patch and get to the point where you are supposed to be on the character select screen... the game just appears to freeze at a localization patch or something like that. I am currently on a black screen that states the following:

    So I basically am in the game itself, but I am in the middle of patching the character select screen or something and it is taking for bloody ever.

    My launcher splashes on the screen, and the only thing it says is, "Loading". I cannot do anything else.

    It's downloading the patch at like 1KB per week. Great job cryptic. At this rate I'll be dead before it finishes.

    I'm having problems with getting into the server and copying the tracert. Hops 13,14,15, 16 and 17 are all around 100. 18 and 19 request timed out. all other hops were very low in the single digits to the 20s.

    Connection to Server is still intermittent, But I am now getting some responses from 38.111.40.114.

    Well I can play but only if I keep the private tunnel open for patching every time I enter a zone. I also have to keep on-demand patching enabled whilst logging in otherwise it tries to download over 5GB of 'patch'...

    However I can play for now - at least until my 100MB private tunnel allowance runs out(!)

    Suggest you try it if you haven't already - it's a doddle to set up (and I'm a techno-n00b)

    Yay, its starting to patch but very slowly like others have said, been waiting for over 5 hours for it to come back.

    Unfortunately it only sais loading.....

    I have not heard from anyone at Cryptic for over half a day now.... What does the community manager do with his time? Isn't he employed to manage situations like this and communicate with us?

    Been able to start up the launcher (after being unable to for 5+ hours), but patching at a snails pace - guess due to the number of people trying to do the same.

    Well iv tried lots of things that ppl have said worked for them. Unfortunately i cannot get past the, Unable to establish to patch server. Iv e-mailed my tracert and nettest so hopefully that will help. Any more ideas as to what i can do. Iv reinstalled, tried expat, also tried reseting my ip or summit, i just followed the instructions. Any ideas would be gratefully recieved as i dont like cold turkey lol

    Ok so I used a tunnel to get the patcher loaded. Once that was done I no longer needed the tunnel I can connect to the patch server and I am patching right now in fact. This should help narrow down the problem.

    managed to patch 60% so far, and i have to patch the whole game again basically . . . some quick patch thing must have happened to me :)

    well the launcher opened but its been stuck at 25KB patched for the past 20 minutes so my guess is it stalled.

    almost there cryptic but not quite yet

    I wouldn't make that assumption. There is always a rush of people downloading after patches are made and it's never anywhere near this bad. Truth is, they just don't have the problem fixed yet. I just did another trace route and it still times out at perfectworld just like it's been doing all day.
