  • If you're up close to him, the AOE hits much harder. Running up close to amp damage him was something I had to time carefully to avoid getting 1 hit myself. I suspect up close the damage is actually physical instead of magic damage but haven't taken the time to really verify that. It has been this way for at least 2 years…
  • The new server shares a name database with 2 pre-existing servers. Ya that's right, if a name is taken on either of the other 2 west coast PVE servers, it's unavaible in the new one. I would imagine they impose a limit of 1 toon per account to prevent people from taking all the good names too fast No clue how long this…
  • Happens to me occasionally. I seem to see it more when I'm laggy in crowded areas, or when I'm teleporting (like from inside a instance to the overworld). I also remember seeing it a lot when I'd tab in from web surfing during WQ.
  • I'm going to go with wizzy especially if you plan to go 90+
  • Would be nice for those of us who wanted to play a specific class and had no gender choice. Male veno and female barbs ftw,
  • Winetricks d3d script made no change. ^_^
  • o.o look! look! Before just trashing my install again, removed ATI's broken junk and with a little trial and tribulation--reinstalled the open source drivers to give them another shot. In my reading about them, I read that vertex shader support was broken, so I turned it off in wine and from a terminal launched element…
  • Nope. The driver pack contains both 32 and 64 bit drivers. If I am correct in my thoughts, my issue is that it doesn't support kernels later than 2.6.29 or xorg higher than 7.4 I got it from this page.
  • After a few more failed attempts I went back to hit google. With posts like this, this, and this, I have come to the determination that both my kernel and xorg are unsupported by Catalyst 9.3 drivers. It seems compatibility for them was broken in Ubuntu 9.04 meaning I would have to use Ubuntu 8.10 and disallow updates to…
  • Booting into recovery console and using sudo -i to ensure root Using grub option for recovery console, I get Using F6 to interrupt boot process, I get I tried using the "--keep" argument so it wouldn't erase the temp extraction and launching "ati-installer.sh" the "main install script" according to the README.distro while…
  • b:surrender 3 times downloading, and I get these same thing. According to the installer instructions I'm supposed to install as root so, here I go.... Fail... However, installing without sudo... So what.... my kernel is too new for these drivers? Where does this leave me?
  • So the ATI self installer didn't want to play nice so I found some instructions to brute force it in. Needless to say, I broke my installation and rather than fix it, I am trying Mint 8. For anyone unfamiliar with Mint, it is Ubuntu rebranded with many proprietary modules preinstalled. It is configured much the same as my…
  • Maybe I worded it funny, but... I have =) I will try to install the proprietary ATI drivers as well as OSS for sound as per the post you redirected me to. Sadly, the drivers in the respositories reject my card. I'm going to try the self-installing version off AMD's site as it does name my X700 as a supported card. I have…
  • Additional info: I have already "tweaked" this install to be compact and be optimized to run on a SSD. This is the breakdown. /dev/sda is split into 2 partitions: /dev/sda1 on / type ext4 (rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro) - 3.5GB /dev/sda2 on /media/data type vfat (rw,noatime,uid=1000,gid=1000) - 4.0GB tmpfs on /tmp type…
  • Well, I have fixed the problem. It seems that the Windows 7 peronal firewall flat out lies to you. When you open the firewall and click "Turn Windows Firewall on or off" -> "Turn off Windows Firewall (Not Recommended)" despite the fact you get a little securty popup telling you that your firewall is disabled and you are…
  • Well, umm... we have had Ubuntu on the system for a while (which really hates the onboard video) but PW ran very poorly using Wine. Also, it's my girlfriend's computer, not mine and she will not accept Linux as her OS anymore. We found a decent 1GB Nvidia video card which we'll likely be putting in there in a few weeks as…
  • I agree, the symptoms point a lot towards a denial on a port. Unfortunately aside from the brisk feeling of excitement sitting in the DMZ with no a/v or personal firewall, it made no change. b:cry My gut tells me this is a Windows 7 security issue. The disconnect messages are immediate like PW tries to open a port and gets…
  • Just for the hell of it, I went and verified files anyways. Verification completed just fine.
  • No DMZ declared, no port triggers or port forwarding used on either DSL modem or wireless router. Physical location - Washington State Pings from server list - around 60 on west coast, around 120 on east coast.
  • After a bit of playing around, I found I can gain full keyboard control and skill usage if I spam a couple "F keys" followed by using the mouse to open a menu like the quest box. b:chuckle I dont know if its symptomatic or causial but while playing with the "Disconnected from server" message, I'm experiencing ~10 second…
  • The inability for the majority to find a way to split where everyone is happy erodes my faith in people. Its all in who you play with. There can't really be a set method on a fair way set to split due to the fact that TT squad layout, mat values, items dropped, and resources used all change. This long-standing debate has…
