If there are no immediate plans to port Neverwinter to Macs, we really would like a forum section for those of us WINE (Mac and Linux) users. I'm sure there are many non-Windows people wondering if and how they can get into this great game.
I'll also vouch for Crossover for Mac. The game plays great, aside from infrequent and random crashes near campfires. Just like on PCs, the better your hardware, the better the game plays.
For anyone else interested in playing on their Macs, but they don't have CrossOver, use this website to port Neverwinter via WINE: http://portingteam.com/files/file/7839-neverwinter-online-dungeons-dragons/
Mobile gaming is great. I'm running on a late-2011 MacBook Pro via CrossOver with no errors. I work in a telecom NOC, so I like to multitask my work apps with NW running in the background for professions, browsing the AH, and running quick little quests during quiet times. Plus, I can always hop over to Starbucks or McD's…
"Some watchdog you turned out to be! You bark at every gnoll you see, but when some elf thinks it funny to switch out a dwarf's clothes while he's bathing, you're quiet as a dormouse!"
Irritating. My L60 GWF is no longer fun to play since they switched out her high-INT scores. I submitted a ticket and hopefully I can get them restored or get a FULL respec.
My new tiefling rogue is having the same issue. I can't drop the initial invocation quest to retry it. How do we assign the invocation power in that icon?
"Once the toothpaste is out of the tube, it's hard to get it back in." I'm in favor of a wipe, but give the founders bonus AD for every day of early access they paid for.
I built a sweet gaming hackintosh (for ~$1,100) and Neverwinter works gorgeously on it via Crossover. Ideally, I'd like to see a forum section for us OS X/Linux users.
I just noticed this on only one of my gaming boxes: No attachments show up in the mail message to recover my AD or auction wins. My other computers are fine.
Much of the game is instanced, so overcrowding won't be much of an issue for many of the quest lines. Of course, I don't expect everyone to be able to get in at the same time, thus the queue to get in. ..but that's what our VIP access is for :p
You don't need to wait for a Mac client. Go to the Codeweaver website and download the free trial version of Crossover instead. Use Crossover to install Neverwinter and the game will play as well as your hardware will allow. Don't bother with the whole Bootcamping or emulation routes. WINE/Crossover does the job nicely on…
In reference to the post above, in BW4 the armor/weapon skin graphic glitch from BW3 got fixed and I had no other issues on my lowend computers. On my OS X box with the nVidia 660, I had a graphic glitch with fire/sparkle animations, but otherwise no other issues. I'm hoping that issue gets fixed by Open Beta tomorrow.
Crossover ported Neverwinter so well on my MacBook Air and Mac Mini, that I built a gaming Hackintosh and got a MacBook Pro to play the game. Go for it!
Doesn't work. I don't even get the sparkling visual effect for treasure chests and doors that lead to other zones, so it is more than just the quest trail, I can't get anything to sparkle.
I'd say that if you only going to play a single character, then just spend the money on Zen. However, if you are like me and like to mix it up with different classes, the Founder packs are going to be a great value: Mounts, companions, Greycloak's legacy for ALL characters.
Crossover works perfectly on my Macs, so don't bother boot camping or running emulators like Parallels or Fusion. Getting the Founders pack will get you front of the line access, which is going to be a godsend when this game goes live and everyone tries to log in. Guaranteed to get your Neverwinter fix instead waiting in…
Great, that's good to know. I was wondering if the nVidia GTX 660 Ti would be good enough for High visual settings and you confirmed it. Should I bother with 16GB RAM or will 8GB do?
Also, when viewing the page on on an iPad and iPhone, the top row of drop down links (e.g. "News", "The Game", "Community", "Media", and "Charge Zen".) are unresponsive.
