I think it is about time this thread comes to an end, it was a good 57 pages of journey, but the Fact remains the same that the pack will be kept the same. If anyone cannot justify the cost, simply do not play as one. There are different race available that benefits the class you choose. This pack is for those that are willing to be different amongst the crowd and have something unique, hence the high price and not really about the rest of the contents. Who knows, Maybe in the future there will be a similar pack offering Dragonborn only race for a cheaper price. As of now, the pack remains unchanged.

Agreed, although it won't happen until Cryptic/PW believes it has profited from all the whales that will pay for this pack.

This is the first >$20 pack to come along that didn't say "shiny" to me at all.
    Where'd my blinky-blinky path go?

    Oh.. my.. goodness..

Seriously? $100 just to play as a race in a F2P mmo? You guys gotta be nuts.. I could buy any number of MMOs and play for months on that kind of cash and never have to drop another cent for micro-transactions.

I have been waiting for a decently interesting playable race to finally to get to play Neverwinter, but I'll be damned if I'm going to drop three digits just to play a race that isn't an awkwardly morphed human, or a human with horns clipping through their head. I'd pay a smaller amount for the race alone, but.. frankly, there's absolutely *nothing* that makes this worth it. Complete fail on the price point and lack of flexibility with pricing. It's far, far too high and definitely will cause a lot of people to just not purchase it, myself definitely included. I don't even care about all of that other pay-to-win easy-access freebie gear and such, I'd just want to be able to play the race.

Well, it was exciting to see an interesting race from 4th edition finally added, even if the excitement died utterly the second I saw the ridiculous cost! If it goes free in the future then all's fair if this is a 'early access' kinda deal, but not making that clear now is just sleazy marketing.

It's not about "justifying" cost.. There is no value to it. It's purely cosmetic and some little fun items. You have to look at the cost, $100, versus what else is out there. $100 in many games will buy you every race/class/mount you could desire. It'll buy you ESO and four months of subscription. You'd have to drop $100 to play a cool race *and then* still spend more on all their other F2P gotcha's. It's just an awful price point for a free to play game that is already designed to get money out of you.. Microtransactions are supposed to be micro, not the cost of a month's worth of utilities.

Has anybody ever taken a game producer to court over them throwing around the word exclusive? The word doesn't have "for all time" along with it or a footnote indicating that they can never change their minds. Pre-order and collector's edition exclusives seem to be increasingly made available publicly in games after some time passes.

I don't know if any game companies have been sued over making "exclusive" items more available. It wouldn't surprise me to learn they have, or that complaints were made and then settled.

I do know that both US and EU government agencies are starting to take a real hard look at "free to play" gaming and they don't like what they see.
@Venture-1 @Venture from City of Heroes if you remember that far back. Yes, *that* Venture. Yes, I probably trashed your MA arc. For me it was Tuesday.

lol of course I know that, I'm not that <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> to know the price is high with the lack of contents to justify the price for the race. But what I am trying to get through is, this is Cryptic pricing and they have already decided on this price point. It's either to take it or leave it that was my point in the previous post. We have plenty of pages, each post stating the ridiculous price. It will not change their mind of the Dragonborn legendary Pack. Just hope in the near future there will be a Dragonborn race only pack if they decided to distribute the race to a wider audience. This pack is for those that wants it first and their choice to buy it.

They need to rename this pack. It's a lackluster pack....with a legendary price. Even download content on console games isn't this badly priced. Maybe "The Bernie Madoff Pack" ? If they change it later and either charge for just the race or add more worthwhile stuff to it. Either way, this shouldn't be made an exclusive race.

I can't help but wonder what they are going to do to this game next, and what they are going to charge for it after the income off this drops off.

    Dear cryptic

I don't know if your high offer will work,
Remember the economy ingame are already unbearable.

the economy is one of the main reason on every MMOs,
why players start leaving the game.

All the prices ingame goes higher and higher,
we do Not need more pressure from outside.

    1. first the economy inGame will be unbearable.
    2. main Chars get hard nerfs and become unusable.
    3. The zen Pack are overpriced

Players will think about if it makes sense to continue playing
    ..or not.

As I see it there are 2 Good arguments happening in this thread
    • Selling the Dragonborn as stand-alone Item
    • Adding more to the current Dragonborn Pack (Act wide Mount and Companion and AD)
Both arguments seam to be fair and reasonable request by the current player base

Exactamundo! 57 pages to get to the heart of the matter? Well, it is the internet. The above quote should absolutely be the most focused on post concerning this particular matter. Anything else would be uncivilized

Making the 30 slot bag redeemable by each character and BoP to Character, as the artefact is, would be enough to make the pack worth £56 for me.

There is no need for a Mount or a Companion as I have two account-wide mounts and 7 companions each anyway.

But the free Artefact plus a free 30 slot bag per character would make it a reasonable deal. If it included the per character bag, I'd have bought it already.

Like everyone else here i was very excited about the new of the introduction of the dragonborn and very disappointed when i saw the price tag and contents of the pack. With the sigils i really don't need another artifact for all my characters (i mean it's nice, but not worth nearly as much as it used to be and even then i wouldn't have paid this much). Either make all items claimable with every character or drop the price, cause this pack is much less interesting then the $50 packs and costs more.

And please do something about the ad-zen economy. The fact that zen is so expensive now that no one will even post offers of selling zen anymore should indicate that the economy is going to hell. One of the things i loved most about this game was that you could buy zen with AD. Theoretically that's still possible, but in practice it's become near impossible.

If the bag were account-wide, I'd view this thing as worthwhile too. As it stands, it's a pebble trying to pass itself off as a pearl.

Lol, just lol. Great comment, you're always worth reading!

This would borderline make the pack worthwhile. Still feels it needs something else like a pet/mount then we are talking turkey.

75 or 100 dollars or euros (much worse for us, exchange rate is much higher), is nearly the same, simply too overpriced, in most part of the world people earn that amount of money in nearly a month and not just in 3rd world countries, but in many European countries too!

So i consider this amount a bad joke!

    Guy,
Do folks fail to realize while it is a game , they did not make it out of the kindness of their heart. They made it to make a profit.

Like any business they can charge what they like. You do not HAVE to buy anything in this game to play it. I drive a toyota, I can't afford a BMW. I can't go to BMW and complain that they charge to much extra for heat warmers and my basic car did not come with heat warmers so now I'm out of luck.

Listen, these people at PWE, Wotc and cryptic have family's they have employees to pay the have electric bills rent and every other overhead cost every other company has.

There are plenty of things in life that one person feels is worth a price that another person doesn't . You have the final say in it. Don't buy it or do buy it. But don't try to put a price tag on somone else's business. Or go out and start your own company and give stuff away and see how long your in business for.

If people don't spend money on these f2p games guess what? No more game. Just saying. ..

I think everyone is familiar with the concept of paying for (digital) goods and services to support free to play games. But thanks for the refresher course.

The idea that this is a business, not a charity, cuts both ways. I don't buy things from businesses out of the kindness of my heart. I buy them because the business offers a desirable item at a fair price. This pack is neither.

Cryptic already runs two MMOs using business models that don't involve gouging the customer. I subscribe to both. There is no excuse for what we're seeing here. They're just trying to cash in on the F2P stupidity sweeping the industry, and maybe it's past time players told game publishers in general that the ride is over and we're getting off the crazy train.

Excellent comment, too bad it falls on deaf ears/entitlement attitude types/and generally the "i want it for nothing" crowd.

To the real word: Value is relative. If something isn't valuable enough to you for the price it's offered for then don't buy it, shut-up and move-on. But people tend to think their opinions will influence the way things are sold, and it may - but not on THIS product, perhaps something in the future.

    Good luck with that.

Yep, because people who don't find value in this pack must belong to one of those categories. Nice job on the generalizations, again. I thought you were done with this thread?

Again. I would happily pay for this pack like I did for HoTN and the Feywild pack if I thought it was worth it. By letting Cryptic know what we think that's called giving feedback. Sure it might not change this pack but if there's a chance it could influence others in the future why do you care?
I am sure the company thanks you greatly so they can now adjust their books to remove the microscopic difference in potential revenue stream.

The point being is he/she isn't the only who feels this way. Even the largest structure is made from many microscopic atoms!

yeah, thought I'd take another peek because for some oddball reason it refuses to die (neither of us are helping with that, obviously). Either way: I think the "it's too expensive/no value for its price/I'd buy it if it were cheaper even though I probably wouldn't" messages have been clearly expressed and received by Cryptic.

I just find it absolutely hilarious when people proclaim how they 'used to spend money here" but now "will never again because of this very thing!" - C'mon, admit it: you're rolling your eyes at these statements, too.

Here's the thing: some people may really just stop playing because this this, but it's only the final straw in their long path of doubts and frustrations. Some people really would buy this package if it cost less, but nowhere near as many as those who proclaimed it (among all those who proclaimed it). Sure, more people would buy the package if it included *another* (yawn) mount and companion.

In short it is what it is. I purchased it - and I and other like me have had mud thrown at us just because we've purchased something for ourselves that the slingers don't like. I won't say offended because it's pretty damned hard to offend me. But just the same: you accuse me of generalizations?

    Okaaaay.

Fact: I purchased this package. Happy I did. Even if I hand;t yet, read every single comment in this thread, I'd still likely do it. I'm satisfied I'm getting what I've paid for. As for value and worth: pffft - the players have decided the value and worth of things like Artifacts and whatnot by the astronomical pricing in the Auction House and such. Is the $100 too rich? Sure, for most. I'd have a hard time swallowing the full hundred, but I'll drop the 75. I didn't do it willy-nilly. I percolated on it for a few days then decided to do it. It's not like I'm some mindless bazillionaire who throws cash around willy-nilly.

But I can afford it and Neverwinter is my chosen entertainment source, so for me it's simply an investment into that entertainment source. I don't spend money going to the movies very week, or eating out every single day, or buying music all over the place or buying a stupid $7 coffee three times a day. Now if half these commentators who do buy those things stopped - the $75 tag might not be as steep as it looks.

People actually complaining about a one-time purchase of something that will last forever (as long as the game survives) - but will actually happily spend $7 on a COFFEE? LOL As I've said: Okaaaay.

Just saying. We all pick and choose how we spend our money. Tomorrow I'll still have my shiny race on the next hundred new toons I make for no additional cost, you'll still have to pay that $7 for a coffee. (General public "you" - no one in particular).

There are what, something like 3-5 people who've said they already bought it and a whoooole bunch of others who have said that they won't, at least some of those having also detailed exactly why in an extremely rational fashion.

Entitlement and wanting things for nothing is not the rationale in a great many cases. Multiple voices have claimed that they don't mind some races being paid, as long as they're not gated behind an over-high price point while being tied to a bunch of shiny tat which the players did not ask for and are not prepared to pay a jacked-up price for just because they want one thing that they apparently can't get otherwise.

I somewhat expect a standalone (paid, not free) release or a smaller pack to be announced in the future, but only once the consumers who actually are willing to fork at the higher price point have been milked. After that part of the population has been separated from their money, then it's possible that something with a wider appeal will come out. If they announced it now, then some people who are already grudgingly sucking up the price of the current pack would go for the cheaper option instead. (This is banking on the already demonstrated fluidity of the concept of "exclusive".)
