No, the content gap did exist in the first couple of months after the day one patch reduced XP rewards so that existing content was no longer sufficient to get one all the way to 40. I took two characters through 30-35 and used the guides pointing out where every mission was and I still hit dry spots where I had to grind…
I just leveled a character up to 25, and I had far more missions than I could actually do in the proper level range before outleveling them. It's pretty nice. I actually wonder how things are up the 30s, as I recall running out of missions several times on the way to 40, and grinding my way through 39 on Empyrean…
Thanks for the advice all. I went ahead with the 10.2k hp + better energy build. It's generally smoother and more fun to play than going with the other options.
I just learned about the old Purple Gang the other day. Also, I really like Lemuria, and I can get around fairly easily. It's one of my favorite zones in all MMOs, visually speaking.
Resurrecting. I've been experimenting in the Powerhouse and came up with this: PowerHouse (Link to this build) Name: Archetype: Freeform Super Stats: Level 6: Intelligence (Primary) Level 10: Recovery (Secondary) Level 15: Constitution (Secondary) Talents: Level 1: The Invincible Level 6: Boundless Reserves Level 9:…
I would suggest finding another person to help. Two people can usually deal with her before she bugs out. One person can be dodgy, but two will almost certainly be able to finish her off every time.
The main thing I like about chest beam is tapping it for the debuff. I do know how the slots work in that regard, and swapping between tapping the chest beam and sustaining micro munitions was how I played before. Of course, that might be redundant with U-238 rounds. You prefer regeneration to the other defenses?
Given the changes to crafting, why do they even need to have skill levels? Why not just train up for each investigation node band at the crafting trainer and leave the skilling up grind out of it?
Some defender builds could solo much more easily than others. FF, Sonic, and Empathy were at a big disadvantage compared to sets like Dark Miasma, Storm Summoning, and Radiation Emission. For comparison, back in the day I could keep my D3 up against Praetorian AVs virtually indefinitely. I couldn't generate enough damage…
Freedom was actually the best thing to happen to CoH in years. About half of the new powersets were available to VIP subscribers automatically, and the other half could have been purchased with just the 400 or 550 point monthly stipend if they didn't really want to pay additional money for those powersets. Freedom existed…
Thank you. This is the kind of advice/response I wanted to hear - I knew I missed some power types and had put points into powers that didn't need them, but I didn't know which ones didn't need them. I never took /DA's self-rez, except once on the test server in 2005. I don't even remember what it's called. :)
Updated build a bit to reflect choices I actually made since I posted this. The character is level 17 now, and the choices are consistent with what I've done to that point. Also rearranged things for a little more team support.
Also, Sam, if you're at all comfortable with controllers, getting an XBox 360 wired controller for the PC makes this game much easier to be actiony in the way you described on the CoH forum (with regards to The Secret World). Melee in this game is less about sticking opponents where you want them and wearing them down.…
Heya. :D It's been ages since I've seen you. I do not know. I have some BOSS members on my friend list from launch, but I haven't seen them in game recently. Adding you to the flist. :D My biggest problem at the moment is working out how to rebuild my already leveled or somewhat leveled characters - that is, my level 40…
Here: I was @BellaStrega since the one-week open beta prior to launch. I don't mind the change to BelleSorciere although I would have appreciated my attempts at capitalization being honored. On City of Heroes, I was KaliMagdalene on the forum and kalimagdalene on global chat for a long time. A couple of years ago I changed…
Also, something I did when I started here during the beta: I adjusted the sliders to proportions I was comfortable with, and then saved the costume template. I try to use that template as a starting point for my characters, and I think the results are easier on my eyes at least.
I'm in a similar position, although I have eight characters that I made around launch three years ago. I've tried to come back twice in the past couple of years but found the choices overwhelming. Mostly I'm just reading as much as I can until I can make sense of what I need.
Regarding character power, over the past year the game has been pushing that the players are important and powerful, moreso than the signature characters. The incarnate trials were a bit of an exception, although with a handwavey explanation as to why. The signature story arcs - heroside, at least - involved the Freedom…
I actually first came here at launch, but got a bit disillusioned by the heavy nerfs that hit the defensive powersets, and which made my characters unplayable until they finally gave out respecs. I've come back a few times, but the game had changed so much that I got lost trying to work out what I wanted in my builds and…
