Also, this is part of continued experimentation in making black costumes. The key is to only use the "full" black colour to pick out details, such as the piping on the jacket, and to mix things up with dark greys and other washed-out colours. The flame pattern on the jeans is decently subtle, I think.
Hello everyone, it's Friday again and I'm back with another entry... late but not forgotten.
Today we have Brightbolt. Sandy Ducain was an ordinary schoolteacher before the day she [insert freak accident of choice here]. Afterwards, she was imbued with the power to harness and control electricity. Sandy had no idea what to do with her newfound abilities until [insert life-changing event here]. From that day forward, she vowed to be a hero and use her powers to help those in need.
This concludes our story of how Sandy the Schoolteacher became Brightbolt. Thank you, move along now. What? Oh, yeah... pictures.
Due to unforseen events, I missed my deadline on thursday. So if no one minds I'll play catchup.
I think it'll even out, as Lilsteffie isn't able to hers this week and zedbrightlander filled in on Thursday. Somewhat disjointed, but we'll make it work!
Not sure if you are full for this past week but as I posted this costume idea to help someone out elsewhere on the forum, perhaps collecting it here will give others inspiration.
Anime Girl (V1 - i.e my first real attempt at Anime proportions)
Uses: Formal, Wizard, Harajuku,Ninja, Fantasy and Egyptian
Congrats all round for another fine week of costuming, guys and gals.
In case you weren't aware, I've been listing all the contributions in the first post in the thread, and will continue to do so (until I run out of space. I'm starting to regret only reserving one extra post. Ah well, live and learn). Anyway, it's a handy way to keep track of what costumes have been posted up week by week.

Well, maybe you can take a look back at what dinahmightcoh did when she did this in her 2013 thread. Just to get some ideas of how you might keep a list as we go.
Off the top of my head I think if you were to, for example, create a post, # 999 or whatever, for week 5 Jan 26 thru Feb 1 and then post a link to post #999 back on post one.
I'm sure there are any number of ways to do this sort of thing.
I forget, what is the limit to the number of links you can put in a single post?
Also, I can copy and paste your week links into my post at 5 or even 6, if you think that would help.
I create three post that you could use if you think this kind of thing could help. You could also put four weeks worth in a single post and use it that way.
Princess Die - Gun for Hire. Assassin? How much you offerin'?
I've been messing with LD for months. Friday I decided to try jacket and then the guns. She could be an easy fit for Soldier, Specialist, Blade if you swap out the guns for a sword. Or even a Void if you're inclined.
And with those dark colors, she's gotta be somebodies Nemesis.
Why did I not mention that this needs the Victorian set?
The Inferno - Flames are not always red or orange, are they?
Acetylene
Living Flame
I am posting these, they are not even really a bonus costume since any one could make these, but because I promised to create simple variations of the Arch costumes mainly to show what I am learning about the CC. I admit these were very easy to make, and honestly, most of the costume is in the Fiery Form Aura. Still, I think the idea of this thread is to spark creativity in other as well as ourselves.
Any one want to try making a purple or yellow version as an experiment? I predict that we will, eventually, see Heroes running around the RenCen with black and a white Fiery Form Auras.
And finally, since Auras are now an added aspect of Costuming, we should consider getting creative with Aura use. Not all Fire-using heroes will use Fiery form to generate their fire powers. Hot 'n Foxy is using ( techno-babble ) combined with ( more techno-babble ) to power her heroics. It looks like Regeneration set on Red. ;-) You will see her in my next official costume post.
I needed to make some people for character screenshots so I thought i would share them here as "bonus/guest entries."
Old Man Albrecht Brand (Former war time teen hero Chance) and great uncle of my own Chance
And as extras Albrecht in costume as Child and Teen
p.s Zed, it might be an idea to add the weekly summary post (or a link to it) over in the Costume Exchange thread each week. that way people can find them both ways.
And for my character's The Bug and Scarab I needed their grandfather Bisahalani, a rugged old Navajo. Note this uses New Shadows Puffy Shirt and Robot Samurai Gi to create the tunic.
Might be a useful base for anyone looking to create an old shaman character
I do still plan to release sets for tomorrow's daily slot. Just need to make sure I take some good screenshots in addition to the saved costume files.
Screen shots are not a requirement - IMHO, just a nice-to-also-have. Besides, you can always add caps after the fact if you're feeling the need to keep to a deadline.

But, then how are the characters supposed to feel extra special? It'll fluctuate based on camera angles, available locations, and free time.
Alright, so what am I up to with mine? A while back there was a thread with alternate costume ideas for the archetypes. My thought process is to take that idea but restrict myself to only the pieces free players would have (plus Viking set due to the Alienware offer). I've got some unreleased for emergency weeks but today's is new.
21st January 2014:
Combat Medic (The Radiant)
An AT that's styled off of magic and mysticism gets redone in a very sleek, techie style that works well both as a traditional superhero outfit and as a sci fi concept. My sole disappointment is that the medical cross can't have any glow since I mistakenly thought that chest emblem had the option for it.
"Interesting builds are born from limitations not by letting players put everything into one build."
That's brilliant, zamuelpwe! I mean, for the most part, the game seems to assume that all Radiant energy is magical in nature. Well, since Clark's Third Law is - Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, that must mean*****
22nd January 2014:
Bloodmage
(requires Arabian Nights, Roi'nesh shoulderpads unlock, new shadows buttcape unlock, heroic formal for the necklace)
Back into my comfort zone this time, with a nice fancy cloth outfit. I'd not really intended it to come out like this, but it's always good when the design takes the lead and the designer has to follow. In fact, that's usually when the most satisfying costumes happen. My original intent was to make a less aggressive-looking classical dress using the Arabian Nights pieces, but it took off after I made the head the way it is. The lady looked regal, powerful, and more than a bit nasty.
I suppose that arguably makes four villainous costumes in a row, doesn't it? I'll try for something more heroic next week. Maybe.
Hey bobsy26, I've used those boots. Did you know that you can illuminate several parts on them? I'm no expert, but ever since I learn it myself, I am constantly looking for parts to "light up."
I did not know about the illumination, when I created these guys, I learned it after.

I'm not a great fan of glow effects myself. The above costume does use a small glow to help bring out the eyes, but in general I try to keep it to a minimum.
While I like the glow option on some things, I don't think it should ever go above three notches in the bar. Don't even know why the highest versions even exist.

Mostly I agree with you. However, sometimes that extra glow is handy for some things. Always nice to have the option.
Edward Carver led a normal life at his normal job. Everyday he took the same route to work and ate the same breakfest.
Then it all changed. He witnessed a crime and testified against the purple gang members that did it. In retalliation Eddie went missing. Abducted from his home and beaten. Finally as his life's flame flickered he was stuffed in a drum of toxic waste.
The toxic chemicals were suspose to disolve Eddie's remains so there was no evidence and to a certain extent the chemicals did just that. Somehow Eddie was able to hold onto his conscience, he was able to ooze his way out of that barrel of sludge and reform.
Knowing that the world thought him dead, he decided to mask his identity and take a new name. Thus Elastic Man was born.
...but the head alone taught me much about Effective and Creative use of glow - including why you might slide some things to max. Kind of a cool concept. Add a classic, clear, bubble, space helmet kind of thing ,and you'd have a Venusian space traveler. Or, perhaps a Mercurian.
But what it mostly taught me, recently, is my Molten Mountain Man will never be truly correct without Humanoid Oiled Skin Head to Toe.
In this pic, the slider is still a little high, and kind of cartoonish, but I'm sure I can find the exact point on the slider to make it look like a volcanic person about to crack and erupt lava from the cracks in his skin, which I believe would be the perfect look for that concept.
Actually needed help with it because I could not find the MCPD patches for shirt sleeves.
Not sure what it is that eiledon is doing, but if he feels the need for a Police Officer costume for that project, well here's one with two uniforms. Easy enough to edit if you need a bunch of Patrolmen.
Soaring through the skies, he swoops down upon his enemies with the swiftness of a bird of prey, hauling the evil-doers off to prison. Part man, part.... man-made... mechanical winged... bird... person? He is... Crimson Talon!
We got a ghost pirate, a jewelry saleswoman, alien tinker'er, two archer alt costumes (really like the new Dryad set.. super cute) and an antique wind-up doll.
Remember to add costume files if you are posting to this thread so others can make use of them.
Scourge of shipping across the seven seas, the Pirate Queen has a penchant for collecting weapons from her conquests.
The Girl from the Greenwood
Searching beyond the edge of her normal woodland territory, she found herself in a strange world full of colorfully clothed individuals and gleaming buildings which stretched into the sky like the elder trees of the Greenwood. Unable to find her way home she now makes a life for herself protecting the citizens of her new home using the skills she learned in the wood to hunt a new type of prey.

I tuned the Regeneration Aura toward a Red so that the flowing, spidery lines on her costume seem to be heat nanites moving about the suit, that direct the necessary energy to the Heat Bracers on her wrists.
You can just about see the effect on her legs. Best to take her for a spin, yourself, in the PH if you want to really appreciate that Red Regeneration effect. Very cool - IMHO.
Internet acting up and I procrastinated finishing the final details what was supposed to be this week's entry so I'll upload one of the emergency backups. Also not sure of work schedule so uploading early (though the clock say Tuesday, so fair game).
28th January 2014:
Team Redshirt (The Inventor)
Boldly going where the comrades with better payroll don't have to. While the inspiration is obvious, it has its own look for space faring heroes or even tweak the color scheme for a nemesis. I really wonder how these would actually look in the Moonbase hideouts since I can't test that (chose the cave instead). Also, I think this is an example of the female outfit lacking options or option combinations the male has, unless that's been updated since I made these.

Pretty sure any player can use this. I mean, no special parts so far as I know. I may be going through a shiny metal phase. { shrug }
Enjoy.
lilsteffie - If you get your costume up, we can call this one a bonus Zed costume for this week.
Edited to add a cap. And another cap.

Victorian vest used.
I think it'll even out, as Lilsteffie isn't able to hers this week and zedbrightlander filled in on Thursday. Somewhat disjointed, but we'll make it work!
Also, I just created one that could be the Nemesis to Marsha L. Law.
