Star Trek: Odyssey - S1E02 "Standoff" Summary Captain Zhang and the crew of the Odyssey must prove the innocence of a decorated Cardassian Defense Force war hero accused of conspiring with the True Way terrorist organization. Based On: Star Trek Online MMO game mission "Standoff"…
Unfazed. No amount of "preparedness" and "concentration" would sufficiently mitigate an unexpected and imminent danger. If you don't believe that I'm deliberately making my narrative edgy, then your automatic response wouldn't have been necessary.
I'm already writing in present tense as much as possible, but "works" on its own seems imprecise, and fails to describe the urgency of the scene. Assuming you're also referring to the (beat) comment, I'm using fewer parentheticals than the official final drafts of TNG/DS9 episode screenplays. What would you recommend…
In my opinion, "damn" and "hell" sound far too sterile for certain situations. The main characters are intended to be younger and less familiar with their roles and responsibilities, rather than being dignified and mature like Kirk and Picard.
jonsills - I just compared my screenplay to the final drafts of several TNG episodes, and I found that not only did they use (beat) as general-purpose pauses in dialog, they also used it far more often than I did. Therefore, I'm going to hold off on removing all those (beats) from my screenplay. Thanks for your input…
In hindsight, I've realized that (beat) should only be used for dramatic pauses. I'll definitely go over and rework my dialogue to use less of them. Thanks! I've got mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I've been fairly careful not to scatter profanities willy-nilly, but at the same time most Prime-universe Trek…
As always, thanks for the compliments everyone. Some thoughts about the drawing process: - When I first started drawing, I actually hated drawing humanoid figures, especially as I could never get faces and hands right. A good way to build up confidence is to attempt to emulate (but not trace from) an existing art style; I…
Depends on the level of visual style of the characters - some of the CGI fan films / fan art done using Poser, for instance, are dangerously close to or are trapped in uncanny valley territory. An idea I'm entertaining for my own fanon is Japanese-style animation instead, which would cost less than a CGI series. Many Trek…
I'd personally prefer having a new Trek series set in the STO timeline of 2409~2413, as it is sufficiently far away from the TNG/DS9/VOY era to not be too dependent on cameos by actors from previous series, but still recent enough to reuse ships/assets. I also feel that, given the prohibitive costs of building actual…
As an addendum to my initial post, here's the Google Spreadsheet version of my VA wishlist: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1p2Us0jHgttZ6dTP2WxBe-E7ReiIC7M3Y6Mnj-029BIk/edit#gid=0 I still haven't decided what my English VA would be, but I already have a good idea of the Japanese ones ;)
Fabulous work, rattler2 and alexmakepeace! I personally don't care for the concept of a dedicated Hazard Team, but I really like the gear combos, especially the blue holographic display right gauntlet, which I feel fits the Federation Starfleet's LCARS UI color scheme really well. Next time I'm in the game, I'm going to…
As my main has an Intrepid-class ship, I'll go for the standard bridge layout for that class, with the following tweaks: - The material, color scheme and lighting would be updated to 2409/2413 standards, possibly taking cues from the alternative-reality USS Vengeance. - Holographic displays will augment standard LCARS…
Precisely :) Just as long as the USS Yamato stays well clear of anything Iconian, I'd be okay with this. As shown in the first episode of the Yamato 2199 remake, Earth's surface has been bombed to oblivion by Gamilon interplanetary missiles / redirected asteroids, and all the oceans have dried up. Shipwrecks dotting the…
Slightly late response on my part, but this idea was actually briefly touched on in the Yamato 2199 remake: One of the fighter pilots assigned to the Yamato is Akira Yamamoto, the gender-swapped version of the originally-male pilot who was killed in an early episode from the original series. Akira is described as a…
I believe the Armada system is 100% optional - private fleets can be kept private, while other fleets can become associated with others. I'd say this is a win-win for everybody.
Listed in order of ease of implementation: - Change the ESD Cardassian Tailor dialogue to have a more character-appropriate flavour text. Currently it is the dour "Hello. You can change your uniform here," instead of something more Garak-esque, such as "Ah, welcome back, [RANK]! You look like you could do with a new…
