It's been a while since the last time I was here. What have I missed? I love what you guys have done with the place.

    JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

    I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

    How long have you been gone? That would help a lot in filling you in. There have been a few Featured Episodes this season, leading up to the end of the Iconian War, and with luck the perpetual Klingon unit-measuring contest won't mean that we have to have another Klink-Fed war...​​

    How long has it been? Almost two years? Year and a half at least, so yeah it's been a while.

    Well, the forums are still the same - fanboys and haters everywhere, depending on who you ask.

    The game...

    Well...
    - The expansion Delta Rising happened. Thanks tot he Dyson Spheres, we manage to reach the Delta Quadrant and find an old VOY enemy has turned into a surprising threat.
    - We got another level cap increase, this time also with a new ship tier. You can upgrade Tier 5 ships to be closer to Tier 6 ships, but you don't get there completely.
    - Specializations were added as an additional end-game advancement system.
    - Specializations were added as a new source for bridge officer abilities. TIer 6 ships come with "Hybrid" seats that act as one of the classical career slots, except you can alternatively fill each slot in the seat with a specialization bridge officer power.
    - Bridge Officer training was significantly revamped to allow you train your BOs in skills without forgetting them. You don't need to rank the skills from 1-9 skills anymore. You teach your BOs a skill, and you then select a suite of powers from the skills the BO knows. You can store the selection also in a ship loadout.
    - Upgrades allow you to turn lower level gear in higher level gear, and potentially (luck) also raise their quality. Upgrading is basically the only source for Mark XIII and Mark XIV gear.
    - The new ship tier also means a lot of new ships. For once, "specialization" ships, that are the only ones that also offer a Commander Hybrid BO slot, and also have access to special specialzation-related ship abiltiies. (Similar, but in addition, to Sensor Analysis or Cruiser Commands). Also a lot of lower tier ships now got a Tier 6 variant, including a new ship costume with interchangeable parts.
    - Following the events in the Delta Quadrant, the Iconian War finally broke loose. It's not looking good at the moment, we're trying to resort to desperate measures to win. But Season 11 (announced for October) already promises the war will finish and we're still around. (As if there was any doubt we'd make it in the end.)
    - Fleet Armadas - fleets can form alliances to support each other and gain passive bonuses.
    - More missions have been revamped.
    - New Sector Space! Alpha, Beta and Delta Quadrant are one map each. Finally Quantum Slipstream can be used to full effect and you need less loading screens to get to your destination.
    - Forum changes.​​

    So I missed the entire Iconian war during my little retirement? That's a little disheartening.

    The higher level cap and specializations intrigue me, but do they actually change up the gameplay or is this Starbases and Fleet stuff all over again?

    Basically what I'm trying to say is, have they added any interesting costumes at all?!

    Depends on the definition of interesting. Vaadwaur might be interesting to some, as markhawkman says. There are also new Talaxian costumes, and I believe a few reputation-set related things.​​
